OT: Asking for good vibes for Las Vegas

edited October 2017 in Other

I'm from Las Vegas born & raised, and last night/early AM today it was just the latest site of a senseless mass shooting, a plague on our entire society that knows no borders anymore.

I ask you just to send some good vibes, some good joojoo, prayers if you're so inclined, to the families of the victims. At least 20 dead, 100+ injured, mostly seriously, it was a horrible night in the desert.

The thing that really hit me hard was the target was a concert outside the Mandalay Bay hotel/casino; these people were just going to listen to some music...just pure insanity.

My thoughts are with the victims & their families. Thanks guys..it was just a hell of a thing to wake up to. Peace.

  • Just horrible. :'(

  • Pretty shocked to wake up to this too......yet more people gone from this world who should still be here :'(

  • Another reason to doubt the sanity of this world.
Wish we could all live in peace and harmony. The best we can do as individuals is give a smile and the time of day to people. Try to be as nice as you possibly can to all and consider that we all have problems.

This shit will continue as long as any idiot can go to into the next store and buy a machine gun ...
So instead of playing hadudu for the victims and their families see that this won’t happen again, or you can play hadudu for the next victims and their families next year.
You need to deal with the gun nuts and change some laws, end of message.
BTW. Don’t fall for the if I have a gun I can prevent this nonsense. ;)
It’s a circle of death and you need to stop it. Now! Peace.

I agree 100%. There's always this feeling of "this isn't the time to talk about gun control" right after tragedies but as usual a few days pass, the news cycle moves on, and NOTHING changes!

I've been shaking my head all morning at the tweets & news posts that come up with someone saying people in the crowd should have had guns! Like firing from Las Vegas Blvd up at a high rise hotel FULL OF PEOPLE would have been a good idea! Police with sniper rifles didn't fire one shot for fear of hitting innocents. But some dude half drunk 400 yards away would've taken care of it....Christ.

I go to London every year or so and it's like my second home. Is there violence in London? Sure, some fool just went apeshit with a knife in the tube a few weeks ago. But London & other Western cities with reasonable gun control just DON'T experience this sort of mass shooting on a regular basis. They say this takes the top spot as deadliest shooting, but look at all the others underneath. The vast majority are in the United States.

I didn't want to get all political on the board but this tragedy is literally 20 mins from my door...the wife goes to the Strip everyday to work at a hotel just a few blocks down. It just hit me & I wanted some good vibes from the good folks here to make their way to those who need it.

But @Max23 is right and I can't muzzle up about it. If we don't do something as a society these will forever be a fact of life, no doubt occuring more frequently and more severely.

We need more regulations on cars and knives as well, and anything that can be used in bomb making! We needs tons and tons of new laws. We have to stop all killings now. Machine guns, semis, cars, trucks, both automatic and standard, ban em all.
Mandatory body armor for all residents who live in cities of more than 5000 in population as long as we're writing up knee jerk laws, let's make them work this time.

  • Senseless cowardly violence compounded by the fact it targeted people who just wanted to enjoy something that is meant to unite and uplift.

I’m not getting drawn into the gun control debate, not the time.

This is purely an idiotic statement. So I would guess that you made this statement when the idiot ran people over in France "This shit will continue as long as any idiot can go to the next store and by a truck". If this person bought it in a store or from a guy in a back alley somewhere, it wouldn't have made a difference. There are gun laws and those that break them are criminals. What if it where a Bombing, there have been plenty of those, should we have more stringent laws on bombs? Oh wait, there is and they are illegal to posses but these idiots still get them.
Besides this is not the forum to discuss these matters.

Lets just have thoughts of the family's involved in our hearts.

Nice fallacies of logic. I see composition/division there with a little slippery slope for good measure.

Missed the point entirely. When knives, pipes, gunpowder ON THEIR OWN can kill 50 people inside of 5 min you have something. We're talking high powered, semi & automatic weapons that have one purpose: ending human life.

Those, and just those, should be controlled a hell of a lot tighter than they are. The 2nd Amendment was written when muskets were the state of the art. The pieces of paper, the ideals & symbols the United States are based on should be liquid & not held to some scripture like fanatisism.

    Have a nice day.

Actually YOU can NOT but YOU can try. ;)

  • Laws only apply to those that obey them.

Agreed. What is the matter with these people. Seriously. I mean, every country in the world has its share of assholes, but this kind of atrocity keeps on happening in the US. Because nut jobs can legally own guns. Does it happen elsewhere, yes of course, but not with such awful regularity. Precisely because it is harder to get guns.

I get that there are far, far more responsible gun owners. I get that the Consituition gives them the right to bear arms, and can see that there are circumstances - especially at present - where that is not a bad thing.

But what is so wrong with enacting tighter controls, and having regular checks?

  • Sure, Max 23’ but better regulation would not take a single gun off a mentally stable NRA member.

  • An awful incident in a city that I've been on holiday to 3 times and absolutely love. My thoughts to everyone caught up in this.

Looking in from the outside, US gun laws are nuts beyond belief. Anyone who thinks that members of the public being able to buy automatic assault weapons and machine guns is fine and dandy, is a complete f*cking idiot as far as I and 99.999999% of the population of the UK are concerned.

After this ridiculousness is FINALLY stopped, children born many years from now will sit there dumbfounded in school as their history teachers talk about the collective madness that afflicted America in its relationship with guns. For those kids, it's going to seem as backwards and unbelievable as thinking the world is flat.

  • Good vibes and more good vibes.

    Viva Las Vegas.

    Peace.

NRA defends the sale of automatic weapons.
NRA is against background checks for the mentally ill.
NRA manipulates the gun fetishists and the ignorant (with fear mongering, including how their "rights" are under attack, and with meaningless tautologies like "if guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns")
And behind it a 15 billion dollar a year business...
The greedy, pulling strings on the ignorant, and the bloodbath rolls on.

Boom goes the dynamite. It's as true today as it was when it was first said: To get to the bottom of something, to know someone's motives... follow the money.

Please, let's not have any erroneous reports this early.

  • I'm no troll. Just shocked to hear what's being reported.

Intending no offence, sir, but I just don’t get how people such as yourself still push faith. If there is a god, and he cares, then what possible reason could there be for allowing a madman to pull a trigger?
