In fact it hasn't been confirmed. CBS reported it first and has pulled back. Here's hoping this becomes an excellent story for Petty to tell....
Running Down A Dream? Great doco that, recommended even if you’re not a fan of his, really well made.
RIP (edit, if he has passed on ... I haven’t seen anything definitive)
Brilliant songwriter. He trusted Jeff Lynne to steer him in a different direction on Full Moon Fever and the result was incredible. “Learning To Fly” has that airy acoustic guitar “pad” that’s just so cool...I love the acoustic tone he got on Wildflowers too, a lot more natural, but that spiky, whooshy multitracked acoustic sound is brilliant.
Rest In Peace Charlie T Wilbury Jr
Update: story of Petty's death has been retracted. He clings to life yet...
Unfortunately named band ...
Yeah. But there's no brain activity and he has a DNR. So good as dead. It's just a matter of hours
I'm reading that the family had the DNR, not him.
Erm. Not convinced that's how I'd like it to work.
Sucks. One of my heroes. Top 5.
