What will be the next effect in the AUFX series? "Edited thread title"
..Snip snip
Anyway, I noticed a twitter from Liljedahl saying he'd hoped to have the next one ready by now, but some things came up and it's been delayed. So, Kymatica, if you're reading, is there anything you can share with us? A tiny little sneak peak?
Comments
Nothing to share just yet, but I promise I'll give you all a sneak peak when time is ready
Awww.
Oh well, atleast it's close-ish.
Compressor?
I'm guessing Delay Line (Flanger/Chorus/Phaser etc.). More closely related to what he's done already.
If it's a flanger it better do through-zero!
The most common effects are reverb, delay, and modulation effects (ie chorus/flanger/phaser etc.), so my bets are with @PaulB. It seems to me that the goal behind the AUFX series is to become a suite of low overhead, high-quality, general purpose tools that can be used in an IAA host to cover most effects needs. So, it would only make sense to have the most common/essential effects be the first tools to be released.
I'm betting it will be a Gonkulator emulator ;-)
multiband distortion with step filter?
I'm hoping for something like AUFX Trash. Multiple distortion, crush, noise, tape, crapification options.
[high fives smeeth]
@eyeballjackson - I'd love to see an AUFX flanger! JamUpPro's Stereo Mistress clone is OK, but pales compared to a true analog flanger...
It doesn't matter - I'll throw my money at it whatever it is. Although I like where smeeeth is going.
Jam up does a nice job at distortions but it renders your input to mono. Perfect for something but not so much for drum kits and wide synths.
Would be awesome if aufx: trash had multiband capabilities. Split into 3 or 4 bands, choose distortion type and amount for each band. Amen.
Oh my list of AUFX-apps-to-do just gets longer and longer... But no one has guessed the next one yet, actually.
Hm..a parametric EQ? Or Perhaps a multi-filter effect with a few various exotic filters (wha whas, hi/low pass, band pass, vowel filters)?
Granular Delay with Pitch Shifter
Harmonizer?
Hmmm.... Well, if it's not Reverb, Delay, or Modulation, then I'm going to have to go with @ChrisG's guess. A parametric EQ would be another essential app....
Ok, what hasn't been tried yet?
Octivider?
Tremolo?
Leslie Simulator?
Compressor?
Limiter?
Noise Gate? (Triggered from microphone might be interesting)
Envelope Follower?
Ring Modulator?
Pitch Shifter?
?
Not a guess but a morning dream on a aufx:multiband. Multiband EQ with a kymatica twist: it's also an IAA host. Each band can send out to a different IAA node so that we can send a signal into it, split it by bands and send different frequency ranges through different aufx or tbd IAA effect apps. You could build utility stuff like frequency dependent compressors (like de-essers) but you could also do whacky stuff like overdrive 200hz-700hz, delay only 1-2k and reverb only 5-6k and phase 6-12k.
make the frequency range dividers controllable via midi (or internal LFOs) and sweet jesus.
*Bit crusher
*Wah/Env filter
*Overdrive
Very interesting idea with the IAA host that can send different part of the spectrum to different apps Too bad one can only make a single instance of each IAA node app, otherwise that could be used to build any kind of multiband processor.
It's gonna be black, blue and white.
Edit Oh I forgot awesome
It really is too bad. Imagine three different aufx:dub settings on different frequency ranged of a shimmery dreamy shoegazey guitar.
my guess for next effect: gate/tremelo.
A gate with configurable patterns would be useful for sure, gotta be able to sync it up tho
Yea gate kind of seems like an empty market right now except for Pro-G in Auria which is a pretty penny cost wise
Agreed, a sync'ed gate with configurable patterns is a black hole right now in the general iOS... That would be a NICE addition! :-)
I was thinking more of a "trance gate" effect unit, not your typical gate/expander found when mixing. More like the one in Looptical and similar
me too @chrisg
Yeah, that would be really cool!
