A syncable pattern controlled gate is on the TODO of future AUFX apps, but it won't be next.
My knowledge of how to use a gate for something other than noise reduction is lacking. Maybe I've never had good one to play with.
With a standard gate, you can put say a strummy guitar or synth pad through it. Clamp it down so that the gate is totally turning off the signal. Then, send a kick drum or click to the gate's key input. Now when the click or kick hits the gate, the strummy guitar will sound. You can use it for 'ducking' or for more interesting rhythmic effects.
A so-called trance gate is essentially the same but it removes the need for an external key and allows the user to set a 'gate pattern' like on a drum machine where every hit allows the original signal through (or the reverse). Fun stuff but limited to sorta dance music effects unless the steps allow for intensity and/or curves. Then you can use it more subtly like a poly-rhythmic tremelo.
Y'know how talking about yummy food makes you hungry? This thread is like that...
Agreed! I'd love to get more of the things that the desktop users have (...in a little tiny package!--the iPad). :-)
I am really hoping for a talent booster with low cpu usage.
@MrNemuzi - haha!!!

Stumbled across this thread in a search and wanted to take a sec to high five @chrisg for guessing correctly. Or perhaps this is yet another one of those infamous Swedish conspiracies.
Now, what about the next one?
Tremolo/panner?
Haj fajv!
I'm guessing (wishing) the next one might be a distortion unit, with a few extra bells & whistles to color the sound, plus a lo-fi/bitcrusher mixed in there somewhere.
Not an AUFX app, but I remember Liljedahl posting about him also working on "the ultimate droning/texture app", or something along those lines, he also posted some great sounding audio examples. Looking forward to some more news about that one!
A cool Stutter EFX pleasee
A light weight mixer for multi-lane AB output stages, please.

This. Please.
Bonuses (some via IAP?):
Auria/Cubasis have most of that covered. I'd like something light weight for live play/ noodling before getting the big guys involved
Yeah, I guess I submerged 'light weight', didn't I?
I guess I'm thinking something with solid mixer functions and none of the multi-track/editing/automation overhead. Medium weight?
Yes a multilane mixer 4 ab2 would rock,
Im missing fast access to volume, Pan, mute and solo
aux sends would be the iceing on top together with a recorder for overall output will keep me busy forever - without having to mess with a daw and the RAM/CPU load of a daw
I would also pay for a single utility ab2 app that does Volume,Pan, Mute, solo and phase invert and switch stereo to mono, that would get me halfway there - there are so many apps without panning ...
I guess someone could write that in one Day, so c'mon its a low hanging fruit ⭐️

Loopy HD does all of this except record audio to specific loops... meaning that we need the option to select individual loops in AB2 output slot. Maybe @michael could easily include this in an update?
Loopy already can do sends by selecting individual loops in AB2 input.
and volume, Pan, mute and solo are all controllable by MIDI per track. Loopy is a really versatile app. It single-handedly made my iPad an enjoyable song sketching tool. (since I didn't have the patience to work with any of the DAW apps)
back on topic: I don't need another multi-lane mixer but I'll take any of the guitarism effects. Aren't they all done by Kymatica?
Loopy is nice, but I don't like audioloops, thx anyway
hmm, right you are. You can work around some of the limits of loops in Loopy, but still... it is called Loopy for a reason.
Remember that in Loopy you can set the record time to more or less any number of loops, I'm not sure what the maximum number is but it's in the thousands. So essentially you can easily record for the duration of a whole song, not just one loop. In that way it's no different to a DAW really, just simpler to operate.
I think this makes it really useful as a sketchpad, you can start with a couple of loops, and then flesh out a whole song. the only real drawback is the limited number of tracks.
The problem with that is that there's no easy way to jump to different parts of the loop. And you have to wait for it to come back around to start recording again...
And audio is inflexible as hell
u can't change your mind - like I want it in another key now or the notes are fine but I don't like the sound - without starting all over again ...

Or the combo of the above
I'm listening, and making some plans...
A Vibrato/Tremolo, with the "Magic Touch" of all AUFX:series
Granular Delay
I'd love to see a Trance Gate on steroids with control over edge(Saw or Square -> Sine or Tri) and with depth control the effect could vary between gate and tremolo effects and if pitch is implemented vibrato too.
A step sequencer for gate on/off, and for weird stuff a glitchy transpose sequencer to turn a simple wave into chippy arpeggio-heaven and with edge control the pitch would glide instead of jump to the set values and top top it all off a filter sequencer too.
The step sequencers gate, pitch, filter could run at independent but still synced speed.
If no sequencers are used the incoming sound could trigger the filter and gate with AD type envelope.
Hope it makes some kind of sense, got a bit carried away
All of these sound great but Samu's gate/tremolo is something that I have been half expecting from the AUFX series for a while now, it would be very useful.
Agreed, a trance gate would be nice! :-)
