Animoog IAP are in sale too?
I hate it, when this is not clear... why not show old and new price or percentage?

    What to get?

IAP not on sale unfortunately, those are the regular prices.

Guys, Animoog or Model 15 (both discounted at the moment)?
I don't understand the pros and cons.

    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/22167/should-i-get-animoog-or-model-15-or-both/p1

  • I've had Animoog for iPhone for about 4 years - I managed to get it for $0.99 for my iPhone 4. I never really used it - just couldn't get into the sound for some reason. I have Filtatron and Model 15 and dig them both, but Animoog never grew on me.

Then I moved on to iPads and I used the same app. Still didn't like it. Well, $9.99 is the cheapest I've seen the iPad version, and now I'm on a 12" iPad and the iPhone version doesn't cut it any more. So I pulled the trigger - here's hoping I use it more now.

So - any cool tips/tricks I need to know about to make this thing more useable? C'mon everyone - you've all sold me on lesser apps (which I've enjoyed) - this one is a favorite around here, so tell me why you love it so much.

  • MODEL15 IT IS!!

  • Will I be able to run Model 15 adequately on my iPhone SE 128gb?

Works fine on mine, only issue is it's a bit of a scroll-fest.

Yes, but you might find the screen size restrictive for modular routing. It was stated earlier in this thread that it runs fine on 5s, so SE should have no problems with it.

  • So I bought a bunch of patch cables for the Model 15. Where do I put them in on my iPhone? In the USB connector?

  • OMG THIS SOUND MF AMAZING

I like Animoog most for creating strings and pad sounds which sounds very moving. Like i said there is mainly one patch i use and tweak from there. Alone for that it was worth the price since i used it in about 30+ tracks (but never exact the same of course). Maybe i post a little sound demo of what i mean. It´s kind of hypnotizing sound which i can get lost in and sometimes just play for a while without recording a note.
I used it for longer time not but then it get a new refresh when recording that into my DAW and using some of my favorite FX. Still the unique sound of Animoog can´t be replicated for me with any other tool. It´s just that after a while it can get overused but after some time i come always back.
Together with Mitosynth, Animoog is THE app i never could imagine at this time to find a replacement outside of iOS. So, it´s so great why it´s so unique for me! But that doesn´t mean that everyone like what it does.
The other great things is of course the MPE stuff and i really like things like that you can set the keyboard correction to play it "weird" and almost in microtonal. That said Model 15 is still the overall better workhouse in general.
I got Animoog for one dollar also in the past and just realize what amazing value it still is.

Oh shit - Animoog iPad is a tenner. Big decisions to make this week.

  • Just got model 15

It’s good... helpful quick starts and tutorial patches and it’s fine on my iPhone albeit a bit cramped- but it allows zooming in to get better grasp of the controls.

Decided not to wait for yonacs app as moog will always sound better

The app sounds powerful even when you tweak just a little..

Add Italizer and aufx space =ambient chaos :)

Deffo worth ten quid and it plays well with other apps controlling it too

To those who are debating about animoog- grab it cause there is no other synth like it and visually it’s stunning too...

Ok, but if you were to choose 1?

Depends on whether you are looking for a specific sound. Animoog is more digital and metallic sounding in comparison. Model 15 is much more versatile and capable of deeper bass.
Some are overwhelmed with model 15 interface but it is a great learning app. However even just using the presets and tweaking will get you happy.
Animoog is a different wonderful. Both well worth the price and multiplied.

Animoog might be more "digital," but it really sounds like nothing else. Model 15 might sound richer, but it does tend to sound like a lot of "famous" synth music from the 70s. Model 15 also is much harder to get your head around if you don't understand modular synthesis.
But honestly, this is a huge sale. Get both.
I just picked up Animoog for iPhone for $1.99, just to have.
Next question: In the age of excellent AUs, is Filtatron worth having? Also on sale.

I use filtratron just for the delay sometimes. And warming up stuff. U could probably use model 15 the same way though much more resource heavy.

Filtatron's delay IS great - Never thought of using it by itself...

  • I looked through this thread and don't think it's been asked so...

Besides the expansion pack compatibility difference, is Animoog for iPhone any different from the more expensive Animoog?

  • Animoog is great for pads/strings. Long evolving sounds. It has a very nice playable interface, which is just fun. Also very easy to get good sounds out of. Downside is that it can sometimes sound a little samey.

Moog 15 is great for, well, Moog sounds. Bass (the bass sounds are amazing), leads, drones - all awesome. It sounds analog. Like OMG, I can't believe it analog. However you will need at least a passing acquaintance with modular to get the best out of it (even if you rely on presets).

If you're into modular Model 15 is a no brainer at this price. Model 15, iVCS3 and Ripplemaker are synths that every modular head should own.

  • I wish they'd have a sale for something I haven't got for a change, prices for all the apps on my wish-list never seem to budge.

  • edited October 2017

    Also

The sound of these moog apps is top notch or above but also...the details in the ui are second to none imo.

  • Further digging into model 15- it does sub bass like no other app can

Also.. the sound quality is unprecedented overall

Very glad I took advantage of this sale

I remember how happy I was to get animoog for 69p lol

Thanks moog! This is great service to iOS music

Sounds like you need a fix. ;) I get that feeling, too. But if we're honest with ourselves, at this point, any additional apps are 'nice to haves.'

  • Argh, I had been so successfully resisting Model15 but now my shields are down...!

Think of it this way: Your purchase helps support a company founded by one of the Godfathers of Synths. B)

  • That's a hell of a sale, I pulled the trigger for both a long time ago and paid full price, but even at $30 I still feel like its a bargain, especially for Model 15, its sounds great coming from the Ipad but when I play it thru my Apogee Duet it REALLY sounds amazing. Id say to anyone thing thinking about taking advantage of this sale, pull the trigg

  • Say what you will about the various iOS synths - this sounds great, that one is amazing, etc. - but I think you'd have a hard time arguing with Model 15 on sound.

NOTHING sounds like Model 15. I don't know what sorcery they have stuffed into my iPad but I would argue (and have on a number of occasions) that M15 is the single iOS app that would give a HW synth a run for it's money. There is a richness and depth of tone not found elsewhere. At least not on my iPad - mood and Zeeon are a close 2nd, but M15 is the king to date of analog synth tone.

Animoog all day. Best synth on iOS (my personal favourite)

  • When does this sale end? I'm on a work trip and want to buy the animoog packs I don't already own

    Packs aren’t on sale

  • If I had to choose between these two... I think I'd still take the old school Animoog overall. At this price, they both should be nabbed as quickly as possible, but if funds are tight... I'm a bit partial to Animoog.

Model 15 is the warmest analoge sounding synth in my opinion. Its amazing. Just playing with one note and the filter cutoff is incredible sounding. That'd be so boring most of the time on your average software synth. It just sounds like a piece of hardware not an app. Get it and run it thru a reverb. Mind blowing
