  • I bought Model 15!

I bought it thru the link of our good friend Doug Wood's YouTube channel (so Doug will earn a small bonus from Apple). If you're thinking of buying, use his link (which costs you nothing, but helps out someone who has contributed immensely to the iOS community with all his great videos).

    Link can be found here:

  • I bought both. Both are stunning, the best ios synths I own, soundwise (although iSem comes close). If I had to pick over the other I might take Model 15 for the luscious sound.

Next up--figuring out how to get some more musical presets. I'm not much into weird synth noises (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Ok, but if you were to choose 1?

Animoog all day. Best synth on iOS (my personal favourite)

I've been using Model 15 more lately but I'm actually with Mireko the 2nd on this one. Presuming you already have 10 virtual analog synths (who doesn't), Animoog is the one that offers something new.

Oh, hi! You have asked for me?

    ;-)

Okay, you are right, i also have some synths which are meant to simulate analog synths. In my case: Sunrizer XS, DRC, iTuttle, Gadget, Magellan, modular, AnalogKit, Caustic, Troublemaker, zMors Modular, Yamaha Synthbook and some not so impressive free stuff.

    OK. But i think:

Already having 10 VA synths does not mean you have THAT sound. Model 15 is special here: It really does sound analog. Just detune two OSC, and then...

    !

We can say quite the opposite: Most of us already have enough digital sounding synths on their iOS devices, aren't we?

Probably so, but this thread leads me to believe some folks like the digital sound better than analog, and those people generally prefer Animoog over Model 15. FWIW, I agree with your assessment of the differences between the two in your previous post.

I take your point. And I love love love Model 15. I don't think it's quite right to categorize Animoog as 'sounding digital' though. No, it doesn't sound as analog sweaty sex as Model 15 but it also doesn't sound anything like Shapesynth or a Volca FM. It sounds like Animoog.

I don't own anything that sounds as bad-ass as Model 15 but I do own 10 synths that can make reasonable and good-enough-for-most-mixes 'synth bass', 'plucky arpeggios riff' or 'mono square lead'. Perhaps only 4/5 as good as Model 15 but that still means I have 4/5 of Model 15's basic sonic territory covered. I can't say the same about Animoog.

Plus, Animoog's moving-beyond-presets-instant-gratification factor is way way higher than Model 15. It's like an order of magnitude easier to tweak. Would love to see a view in Animoog where all of the knob screens were visible at once though! Where they'd take over the wavetable display.

Buy both, without hesitation. Model 15 is the best sounding VA on the app store. Plus, it's patchability provides for endless fun (so desert island choice on one or the other: prolly model 15 because there are so many places you can go with it). If you can only choose one for financial or brain-space reasons, and you already have a stable of good sounding VAs you like, go go Animoog.

  • Is Model 15 universal?

Yes. Sadly, I can't install it on my "old" iPad4.

Another option is to buy Animoog for iPhone for $2 and see how you get on with it.

I have Animoog and love it. I downloaded Model 15 to my iPhone last night, but when I went to the AppStore to install it in my iPad it wasn’t available to download without purchasing again.

  • I managed to resist the temptation. Already have Animoog for iPhone so I can access those sounds if I want to use them.

  • Just wondering. Does Animoog have a sequencer?

I just took a look on an iPad, and it's shows as downloadable for me. Does it show on your Purchased page in the App Store app?

    No, it does not.

  • @mannix said:

No sequencer or arpeggiator, can't say I have missed either function. Getting lost in the stuff that other synths don't have is seriously fun, hardly touch the effects, envelopes etc

  • Wow, AUv3 Model 15 update just rolled in :)

almost a little surreal to see it in the list of auv3 ...

Cool! Thank you. Yes, it was on the purchased page. I appreciate your help.

I looked through this thread and don't think it's been asked so...

Besides the expansion pack compatibility difference, is Animoog for iPhone any different from the more expensive Animoog?

Sound and functionality-wise, no difference. I think the IPad version has a slightly more elaborate recorder module (more tracks), but that's it.

  • I bought both. I have no idea how to make sounds with model 15 with all the cables but the presets sound so good. Tha animoog is cool too. The main reason I bougth both is that they both support mpe and I will have a roli keyboard in a couple of weeks. It's a great time to be an ios musician now.

@MoogMusicInc , or other Model 15 gurus- idea, can you run the app on two ipads, and be able to use one, as a midi controller for the "real" one, that you play, and makes sound? I was imagining how cool it would be to get two screens worth of real estate, and get the knobs to sync together. Like you have oscillators on one screen, and envelopes on the other, etc.

The trillibass preset can move your house to the left

I generally perceive these statements as clever and at least true in spirit. But in this case it's just true. My house may never be the same after a session today.

I hope you figure out MPE. The one disappointment I have with model 15 is that my Linnstrument honestly doesn't work as expected. I'm sure it's user error on my part but no tweaking of settings is getting me there right now. Small potatoes though.

  • If it’s still on special get it guys! You’ll regret not getting it at this low price!

  • In addition to the great sounds - I'm loving the Arp on model 15. Not a lot of mention of it on the threads here... Only played with it for 15-20 mins but it could be my favourite arps in a synth yet. (Virsyn apps arps are great too)

But yeah - like many others here feeling a lot of love for the Model 15. Great deal at sale price!

The arp is nice indeed but a real sequencer like they had in the system 55 would be nice.
I just hate that on iPhone i often open the arp with my fat fingers.
If the arp had cv output.....But using velocity as modulation source works great too so far.

  • Ah, Arps . Syntronik has the best I have seen so far but this one is not bad either.

  • Model 15 is an amazing piece of software. In case anyone is still unclear.
    Go get it already.
