I’ve become the iOS equivalent of the Home Organ player!

As the title says:
Even though I have a hugh range of iOS apps from full DAW wannabes to (my more oft used) Gadget and BM3, my iOS use now boils down to that of a home organ user!

As iOS users we are pretty spoiled with creative and sound manipulation apps (although lacking in a top notch stand alone sound sampler IMHO), and Yes, I’ve done my stint of trying to convince myself I’m making creative tracks. Tracks that are only a decent singer and top notch mastering away from propelling myself to stardom! In reality though, I’m really making a few simple backing tracks and playing along to them with my own choice of programmed synth lead - yes, I’ve become the modern equivalent of a home organ player!

The above and admittedly a deep love of ‘app collecting’, is my reality. Am I saddened by this realisation? No, not really. My age was always against me becoming a star anyway. That and the fact that I’m so stuck in the past musically that most kids would probably laugh at my admittedly ‘numanesque’ sounds.

I wonder if I’m alone in this realisation?

Long live the iOS Home Organ - to unashamably steel a line from another “now go finger your” Organ “and have fun doing it!”

  • I too have realised that mega stardom probably isn’t going to happen. And if you boil it down, a lot of music could be described as a backing track with a tune over the top. The main thing is to enjoy doing what you are doing, and if you can share that with others who can get some enjoyment from it, so much the better.

  • I refuse to give up, I'm still clinging on to the fast fading glimmer of hope :D

Have had a small taste of fame here and there in the past, sometimes made a few quid, too. Today, knocking on doors in pursuit of either is a) not physical possible at this time for me personally, and b) not something RTM would do anyway. If financial success is meant to be then that will happen by luck/fate alone. If not nobody concerned is really all that fussed.

That said, I believe wholeheartedly that our RTM material is very good quality, polished and far more interesting than 95% of what is on mainstream media. We like what we do and that is the main reason we do it. ‘Margaret’s Magic Triangle’ the sole video currently on YouTube has a couple of hundred views with no promo, due to serious illness.

More music/ videos are in the works. If others like them, that would be great. If something got picked up by a commercial concern, even better. But actually creating, enjoying the process and proving to ourselves that we can achieve our musical aims is all that really matters.
