just test it out and drag and drop works
Wow! Great update!
How do you do drag and drop? What kinds of files are you dragging and dropping? Still trying to figure out iOS 11 over here...
Nice but they really need to contact fabfilter for the full screen bug on their plugins with ipad 10.5. It's pretty annoying.
I also would like to see full screen AU implemented like GarageBand
But anyway... thanks RIM. We know you’re working hard. Good to see updates.
Dragging files recorded elsewhere in to auria. Dragging audio files, stem files out. Hopefully dragging convolution reverb cults in, and sound libraries.
FF display bug fixed....nope.
I’ve updated but unable to restore purchases from Auria store, including the Pro upgrade.

Any advice on this issue? No problems with other apps and AppStore in general
I’ll maybe delete and reinstall rather than update.
Thanks
My update on a 10.5 Pro iOS11.1 went smooth. I didn’t have to restore purchases because they were all still there after update, and my upgrade Auria to Pro, stayed Pro.
Drag and drop works well. My fab filter plugins show narrow or wide display. Works fine for me.
@WaveMachineLabs no issues. Haven’t noticed any glitches yet. Just easy-peasy update. Thanks!
Just give FabFilter a heads-up on any issues via mail or Twitter/FB. They'll definitely at least take notice. You should only expect any answers via their support.
Loving the drag and drop feature but #(&$@!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why can Auria have punching in on the fly? I just dont like the fact we cant manually punch in with it, only having auto punch is a flaw imo. When its playing and a track is record enabled, hitting the record button should not just stop the track from playing, it should just start recording, like every other IOS and desktop DAW does. That one of the reason I use Cubasis over Auria Pro sometimes, because I can manually punch in, instead of always having to stop and set in and out points to punch in. Auto punch is very useful but so is manual punching in imo.
That one of the reason I use Cubasis over Auria Pro sometimes,

Also, Cubasis allows the duplication of tracks. That would be useful in Auria Pro.
Agree.
In addition to things like track duplication, I love the look of Cubasis' workflow (never actually used it). It just breaks my heart that the MIDI resolution is so low. Fine for internal composition of course, but not really suitable for recording MIDI in from external sources (at least in my own personal 'world view' on these things).
Reeeeally looking forward to using Auria Pro with files integration. Truly awesome!
@JohnnyGoodyear and @Zen210507 - I also agree track duplication would be great. There's a simple enough work around, just not as simple as hitting a button that says, "Duplicate Track."
Drag and dropping tracks in and out ... VERY cool!
@OscarSouth - speaking of ease of use/workflow, how about 'dat new Garageband ... from an objective standpoint, with GB's robust support for AUs, Apple just walked in with their free app and their purloined Alchemy and kind of ate everybody's lunch ... sneaky 24bit update
Yeah, GarageBand is absolutely class. My top two DAWs on the platform are BeatMaker3 and GarageBand. Auria Pro is primarily an edit/mix tool for me.
Every time there's another update to GarageBand, especially this last one, I'm left with the icky feeling of "Ummmm, now why exactly have I spent all this money on all of these apps, along with all the time it took me to learn them... when GB could likely do everything I'd ever really need?"
As for having some pieces that I want to put together and arrange on iOS, Auria Pro is more than enough for me. Never feel like it's missing anything for my own use. And, it's actually easier to use and get my head around than Logic Pro X most of the time. Can't really complain. Though, if I had it to do all over again... every time a new plugin, synth, or fx, etc. comes out... I would first take a trip back to GB and make sure that iOS base isn't already covered by GB.
Cubasis workflow is very nice. I am not a gearhead, but am usually able to figure out Cubasis pretty easily. I recently downloaded Cubase LE on my PC and that is a different story -- not nearly as nice as the ios version.
For me, it’s not one or the other.
I use both Auria Pro & Cubasis together. Both have strong & weak sides.
I love both apps. Given what gear I used in the 70s 80s 90s 00s.... these apps are incredibly incredible
When I began my career in radio, 1992, we used tape cassettes for commercials and the only digital thing was the CD player. The company cell phone weighed 3 kg... yeah I appreciate the iPad and all daws I can get my hands on.
@skiphunt : That last comment about GB.. Whew.. You said a lot there! Very significant post.. Makes me reasses some things ! Thanks.
I second that. I think I’ll try GB myself. I’ve only used it on Mac.
This forum is great for inspiration.
What are actually the most irritating limitations for iOS GARAGE BAND? If any.
We can start with NO MIDI IMPORT!
Can’t route it in output in Audiobus...
There’s more...
Biggest limitation for me is only having three choices available for time signatures and the song can only be one time signature per song.
Smaller things for me, lack of simple fade in and outs etc. I am also forever moving the playhead at the top of the screen and accidentally moving blocks of notes by mistake, which is either a poor UX choice OR (more likely) a matter of me not knowing the clever kids way of doing stuff. And, yes, of course I wish it could be an AB input, but I've reconciled myself to that, but it sure would be nice not to have to export tracks separately for editing work elsewhere, but just have an export all stems in a zip/whatever option....in the grand scheme of my small scheme these are nits however...
GB is a great composition tool, as are BM3 and Cubasis (which I also bought). As a multitrack audio amd MIDI editor and arranger, though, Auria is still in another league. When Rim adds multiselection markee, it will become even faster than Desktop DAWs.
Well, I don't really want to be so dismissive of the grander iOS sound universe. I think it kind of depends on your ultimate goal. If you're a musician composing songs (I am not) it's hard to ignore just how much GB offers for that end goal. I bet most musicians really don't need much more than GB and a handful of AUv3 apps to keep it fun and interesting. I've always wondered why some seem so quick to dismiss Garageband. I just accepted this in the beginning because I figured they knew better than me.
However, the more I learn... the more I keep coming back to GB and questioning it's detractors.
All that being said, if you're interested in more of a "Frankenstein" approach to loosely patching together weird and esoteric iOS sound apps, and automating some bizarre granular happenstance compositions with strange sequences and/or interesting little controller apps added to vaguely and expressively direct the overall piece interactively, etc. it's kind of hard to do that in GB.
I prefer having a simple, minimalist interface to begin with a clean slate, and start mixing and matching the various esoteric apps like modular components. For this, I love AUM... but I'm sure AB3 would serve well too. Then, after you've got this organically evolving thing that's beginning to emerge, you need some way to kind of organize it and direct how you want finish it out. For me, this is where Auria Pro really shines.
I like what this guy does with sort of mixing and compositing various hardware gear, into incredible aural pieces... kind of hacked together in the same sort of "Frankenstein" approach that I described above. It's kind of what I'd like to be able to do more of, but using iOS sound apps in place of his hardware components:
Is it possible to record midi on like Xequence and send that to GB?
Totally agree. I joke about being an Auria fan boy but I really do enjoy Cubasis. It seems for just quick, stream of consciousness recording experimenting that the Cubasis layout just flows.
Now where I differ from some of you guys like @skiphunt is I just can't get into GarageBand. I'll use some of the sounds of needed (especially the cool new asian instruments) but as far as making a song on it, I can't get comfortable with it.
Maybe coming from analog then into early digital (ADAT'S, etc) then the DAW's as they improved I'm too set on "traditional" interfaces. I like mixers, skeuomorphic or not, and I like the traditional 'DAW' edit window. With GB there's just too much stuff behind menus, sliders, etc. To me it just isn't user friendly. Pinching & zooming, traditional editing, etc You can do most of wat you can do on another DAW but for me it's just not intuitive.
But that's just my opinion. I do like the drummer stuff, Alchemy, etc. so for now I'm keeping it on my iPad awhile.
