Coming from hardware (and computer plugins), I’m still amazed at how cheap everything is in the land of iOS. $16 total for the synth and all those IAP presets. Crazy times we live in.

Exactly. I have a full studio that I barely use because I’m so impressed with the sounds on my iPad.

  • Here’s a short audio clip of Quantum and KRFT driving 3 instances of Zeeon on the iPhone SE with Funk Drummer playing drums :)

These are all stock presets. Actually it’s the same preset on each instance :D

Quantum Zeeon KRFT Jam-MM4C at USA by MusicMan4Christ on #SoundCloud

Guys really recommend both IAPs! Seriously it’s like having IK’s Syntronik on the iPhone, seriously!

Yes and no. It´s true that the entree is very cheap but often iOS apps comes not with many patches.
There is not much different here anymore since most plug-ins comes with 100´s of patches.
Also synths are on sale the whole time (not a good thing if you ask me) and you get free stuff and cheap as hell upgrades and crossgrades etc.
There isn´t really a big different these days in longer term when i compare that.
But iOS is a tricky beast to look very cheap but things count after you started.
Not that it´s a bad thing, things just merge together more. I just think that a reality check is needed often because it´s just not true that iOS is sooooo much cheaper anymore when it comes to value of longer time.
Sorry, i just wonder if people compare it to hardware and plug-ins from 10 years ago.
More or less it´s everything balanced i think.
Back to topic.....Zeeon is a wonderful thing and it´s fun to create patches with it, even on an iPhone.
No analog drum machine needed anymore :)

    THIS

  • Thank you for iPhone support, purchased! :D

  • The sound fidelity and crispness, clarity what ever it maybe it’s completely refreshing for a synth not only on IOS but on the iPhone for goodness sake!

It reminds me when I first heard the mighty Korg Trinity at guitar center which was going for over $3500 back in 95 and was blown away at how the thing sounded. This synth gave me the same feeling!

I don’t know... I have pretty much every new shiny plug-in known to man on my Mac. I don’t really measure an app in presets, but power. If they gave me nothing, what could I do with this thing? How does it sound compared to omnisphere or my prophet 12? While nothing touches omnisphere anywhere (samplers and sample/synth hybrid instruments have yet to catch up due to hardware limitations obviously), I’m amazed at the sounds I can get out of Zeeon, Model 15, Mitosynth, DRC, Mood, FM4... the list goes on. And then the apps that are really special because of how they cater to and iPad specific workflow: Animoog, Synthscaper, Soundprism, iFretless, Samplr, Borderlands Granular... none of these could really exist on something unlike the iPad unless the whole approach changed. And add in the fact that we’re spending on average $10 for each? I really feel like we’ve got it pretty good!

  • Ive been going through the brice patches and they are so nice.
Remember to look out for Layer 1 switched off, lots of great stuff hidden/easter eggs.
We are very priveledged with these devs and patch men. As the old streetsounds electro albums used to say, this is aural sex!

Yes, yes, i agree in general but i also got most of my synths for nearly the same prices as some iOS synths and get a lot more content and stuff with it. I just meant that neither is really cheap or expensive for me. That depends of course from case to case. Omnisphere hasn´t really the best synth engine but it´s a powerhouse workstation and one of my fav still today. Model 15 is superb (but still far behind some virtual modulars for nearly the same, if i count the IAP). Power, yes. But that´s missing a bit in iOS still. Mainly no FX to modulate which makes a huge part of a timbre/sound sometimes. In general FX are not so good on iOS but i´m sure that will change too.
I always get a bit headache about the prices. It´s cheap entree if you don´t want/need a lot patches to start, yes.
I would prefer more features and content to start with for a higher price at start but i know that iOS works different.
You have to to lots of free updates and developers on iOS maybe needs to get a fluid income via IAP rather than a good start and then it´s over.
Like i said (that is of course just my useless opinion) at the end it´s very balanced and i see it as "i get what i pay for" in general. I´m not searching for cheap otherwise i would just use free tools and i think that a good income for a developer results in better and future proof tools.
I also agree that iOS devices has a lot pro over other things and vice versa. Neither will ever replace the other and that is good this way.
Having such a great DSP in my pocket is really great. Maybe i just got a bit tired of multi-touch since it´s not good for my back an neck to use these devices for longer time :) And iOS seems often to focus so much on iOS itself rather than the music creation process itself.
Sorry, i hav eto stop my out of topic posts but my mouth is faster than my brain sometimes.
At the end it doesn´t matter and as long as we are happy with our tools everything is fine.
Zeeon is a winner. I still would like to have it as plug-in since i prefer cross-platform and the iOS landscape for patch sharing, sound designers is still very small. So i will bother Beepstreet from time to time with this :#

    Ease of use 100%

  • Happy to see you guys are enjoying the new bank. I’m constantly inspired by this synth and what it’s capable of. Here’s a fun thing to explore: stacking presets. It wasn’t until i’d finished a bulk of the presets that I decided to try playing two or more of them at once. And when I did it nearly knocked me off of my chair.

Here is an example (with some clumsy playing) using Angel Strings and Phasey Noise Pad. I added some aftertouch routings for another level of dynamics beyond velocity and the modwheel. Understandably, polyphony mileage will vary depending on how many voices are active.

    How are you stacking them?

That makes since. I just spent couple minutes Zeeon trying to figure that out lol. Now if zeeon was able to stack inside the app that would be genius:)

  • Thanks for the screenie, @hellquist. Unfortunately that doesn't show up on my iPad 10.5. All that is available is the panic and hold button.

I would suggest you save/export whatever presets you’ve created and then uninstall/reinstall.

Just a heads up, the “shop” button only appears in the standalone version.

  • Yes, that was the problem. Thanks for your help.

  • edited November 2017

Edit: never mind had the same issue as others were having, got the update

Its disappointing the universal update is $9.99. I thought this was weird since I already paid for the ipad version, but I can't get the price to update and don't want to be charged as it states I'm going to be.

  • @brice you sir are the man! Thanks for some beautiful aural joy!!!

Here's my little contribution to the update today for this joyous synth :)

  • As always, super nice man!

  • So, i really love this synth.
It seems 5 instances (still simple) in GB is the limit on my iPhone 6S plus.
If i want to add one more it says Zeeon is not installed....?
However, i will try to put together a Zeeon only cinematic/trailer like track with custom made patches.
It´s an inspiring tool. It has a really dark and gnarly side which i like :)

  • LOL, i killed Garage band with it and i had to made a hard reset because all my GB projects had a question mark as picture. The hard reset solved it again. I guess it´s the RAM limit.
So a short journey into iOS production again :D
But anyway i will record it into Logic because it will be an about 20 tracks Zeeon song :)
Creating patches flowing fast with this thing. Some things it can´t do so well but in general this is a monster.
