Maybe with the mastering apps comes more mix routing options, eg buses

Waves is an industry's standard for Mastering. If this happens(hope so)...... it may put the Fabfilters in Auria Pro some competiton?

Feel like it's big news for iOS in general (Waves entering the market in any form) but I'm not sure if they're competition for Auria and Fab/SB. These Waves plugins are absolute classic (and for very good reason) but they're pretty mundane/utilitarian relative to say Timeless or Saturn or Turnado.

  • If the Waves plug-ins are only those three, I’ll wait for a better plug-in selection before dowloading Cubasis again, but all in all is good that Steinberg get Waves on board, so hats off to them!

  • I missed the announcement on this. This is not speculation but is happening? Very good news. And we think the update is coming this week?

  • Yes this is exiting news for sure. This app has definitely come a long way since it’s release.

  • Love Cubasis but unfortunately I can’t see myself giving it another look until it’s optimised for the 12.9” pro screen - it’s crazy to me that this hasn’t been a priority, even after 2 years of this ipad size. The workflow would be improved immensly imho by creating more space for the timeline and seeing more of the mixer. (And especially as a designer I just can’t handle the oversized stretched graphics). News that this still hasn’t been addressed in the upcoming update is discouraging.

It doesn’t bother me too much though, as Beatmaker 3 has taken over DAW duties (for so many reasons). Would like to revisit my old tracks in Cubasis more though. And who knows, if it gains support, might go back to using it as an alternative to BM3 / as well as.

I wonder if the new update will be as good as Garageband is now...

Love GarageBand but one recent show stopper is when I wanted to record MIDI keyboard along with live vocal. Didn’t seem possible so I ended up using the archaic Logic Pro on Macbook pro :)

I think Cubasis can do this though so next time I’ll give it a whirl. Looking forward to the update ...fingers crossed for increased MIDI resolution.

  • when does the update of cubasis drop?

  • Okay, help me out here. Either I'm blind, or I'm missing something, but how do I loop something in Cubasis? I'm not talking loop on the playhead, I'm talking essentially duplicate a section out infinitely like I can do in GarageBand? I see where I can copy and paste but there has to be a way to loop it like every other DAW lets you do.. right?

Use Copy and Paste to duplicate. Just make sure the playhead is positioned where you want the pasted section to be duplicated, then paste as many times as you need.

Like all the other ones out of the blue with minimal hype. (Cept this time there seems to have been a bit of a leak)

i think what is lacking in Cubase lot lot LOT more than another IAP plugins is AU automation, group busses and proper files manager with subfolders ...

    Agree 100%
I’ll gladly pay for these features. I hope they fix the export bug too in the coming update.

    Hi fattigman,

Please let me have more details about the export bug.
What is exactly meant by this?

    Thanks,
    Lars

  • My guess is the Plug-In rendering/freezing that needs to be run in real-time to avoid glitches...

OK cool. I have the FX IAPs already, is the Drum IAP worth getting? I've heard mixed reviews but i'm not keen on the original drum sounds ...

I've not bought it, but it seems like a decent enough deal if you like the sounds of old school drum machines like Roland's TR-808/TR-909. These sounds are still popular in hip-hop, trap, and modern pop.

Here's the thread when the Classic Machines IAP launched...

    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/19724/cubasis-2-2-available-new-classic-machines-iap-and-hello-summer-sale

I bought the classic machines IAP and really like it. I would have liked to have had individual volume controls for each drum, but a good workaround is to set the velocity for each drum in the piano roll editor, or have a separate instance of each drum in the mixer. Haven't bough the Waves IAPs yet as I have spent a ridiculous amount of money on software over the weekend!

  • Is AU instrument support MIDI-only? Or is it possible to record audio without having to bounce the MIDI track?

You and me both! Thanks for the info.

Seems to be Midi only. When I add an Audio track and go into routing, only IAA shows up as an option. Audiobus shows up as an option too, so I suppose you can record an AU that way.
