@syrupcore Every time (not often enough) I open this app and spend more than half an hour playing with it I get the almost awful feeling in the back of my lizard mind that this is my true desert island app. It's all here, down to the proper pattern/song mode that gives you no excuse for staying within the comfort of the 'perfect' 16 bar loop.

I'm not even talking about using the bass and drum aspects, just importing your own samples, making the best HAM* sandwiches ever, and then exporting the mix for adornment elsewhere.

Seems smoother than before and the reason it's an almost awful feeling -and why I have always gone off elsewhere, whistling past the graveyard, nothing to see here- is that in this thing (for me) there's no excuse: Do the work and you will be rewarded. But, aye, there's the rub Malvolio....

I've just realized in the last couple months that Egoist is my "if you could only use one app" solution. BM3 is more flexible and deep, but everything takes me longer in terms of WRITING. Egoist gets something good and unique going so fast and easy that I pay closer attention to the key elements of composition (melody, lyrics, etc). I have even started to appreciate the bass and drums modules--and the effects are amazing! I really COULD do it all here.

Scary aint it? Look into the abyss etc and the removal of The Excuse. Think I better go eat some more roast potatoes...

Would Bebot ever make it to shore on your island?

Silly man. Bebot IS the island, and we, adrift, are merely the profiteroles of its pleasure.....

I have no problems exporting loops to AudioShare or Blocs Wave. The loops arrive seamlessly with no clicks.

Not just loops. You can export parts and even songs. All exports cleanly.

Hilarious, I hadn’t heard Ham Sandwich before!

I know exactly what you mean, after toiling for 20 minutes slicing and dicing to create the perfect groove then accidentally hitting the dice and thinking damn you Egoist that’s better than anything I could’ve come up with.

  • Had an enjoyable session with it earlier. Only downside is I tend to use the randomiser too much, and so anything I do in it is always very recognisable as coming from Egoist.

Yes, by the other ten people on the planet who use Egoist.

  • hey guys does egoist allow you to destructively truncate samples so that unwanted audio isn't taking up space?

    No.

No. It requires you to transcend your mortal boundaries as regards your inner awesome self however if'n that helps at all....
