Xequence sure does have some fans around here. I am still trying to learn Quantum right now, but if that export option happens for Xequence in the mean time I will definitely give it some attention.
I’m about to start the Quantum learning curve lol
Gadget question from a Midiot: can I trigger a scene, or mute/unmute an instrument, via a MIDI pad (like a drumpad)? I have an Alesis Samplepad 4 that I would like to use to trigger loops/instruments.
Trigger scenes, no.
I don't think you can't exactly mute / unmute on the mixer. But depending on your controller, you might be able to automate the volume from zero to 127 and back with a pad. It would need to be able to be set as a "toggle", where it alternates between 0 and 127 with each press.
Ok, export to Maschine will be great here...
BTW, Maschine will be adding audio stretch soon..
+1
Been in love with Gadget for years, growing with every add-on.
Until beginning of this year, when the CPU/battery drain started to annoy me.
It has got to a point where I don’t enjoy using it anymore.... which is a real shame!
Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I had bought Xequence but did not look at it much. I just loaded the demo for the gadget song and wow. Might have to look at this harder. @ruggedsmooth was the learning curve tough with Xequence?
Turning unnecessary processes off helps. Kill the background audio, Siri, analytics and ripple animation, use in airplane mode, limit the use of effects and you should be good.
At first I didn’t like Xequence at all but it quickly grew on me.
The editing and zoom/scrolling is just super smooth and everything is simple and uncluttered. A couple nagging things like no metronome ( I just program down some drums quick)and audio playback cuts out after about 10 minutes ( if you have a track looping after 10 minutes you have to press stop and play again on the transport)
The keyboard is the most playable on screen keyboard I have used. It is fabulous.
It is made for iPhone first and I only use iPad so I guess that why it’s so uncluttered and simple.
It takes a minute to get accustomed to the workflow just like any new DAW type program but it clicked really fast for me.
Create a gadget project with 16 instruments and a Xequence project to receive them, save them as templates and there you go.
I am a total self taught noob so if I can learn it easy, anybody can.
No it doesn’t. I have all of those turned off already.
The problem is Gadget itself, not some background process.
Just 1 monophonic sound on Lisbon (with all effects switched off) heats the iPad/iPhone to an extreme amount.
Already done. My iPad gets dangerously hot when running some gadgets (mostly Lisbon). Tried all sorts and definitely don’t have the iPad either charging or doing any other tasks. Even after my last reload, the first thing I do is make sure my iPad has little going on in the background. No other app or collection of apps makes my iPad anywhere near as hot as Lisbon in Gadget!
Cool I'm gonna skip Lisbon then. Since you can put any outside synth sounds in wth Vancouver, which by the way, I've had no issues running lots of instances.
Just out of curiosity: how much % does Gadget use per hour on you iPad/iPhone?
Do you notice it gets hotter than average (or do you have yours in a case?)
Guys, that heat on the iPad just means that Gadget is cooking up some hot music.
Trying something new today with Gadget. Choooo choooo!

Octatrack sequencing the gadget beast.
And the final track....Using all 8 Midi channels on the Octatrack to sequence Gadget and noodle the cutoff and delays...and using 2 samples on a single Audio track to add some additional grit and grime to the piece...all recorded live into AudioShare on the iPhone via the iRig HD2 interface.
I listened to the track - when do I get my Free Jumper?!
