Wow. A lot of work went into that.

  • Well we know where we're going...

  • good thread here (cept the dancing cheetolinis bout made me wanna lose my lunch). somewhat to eno's point, i personally wish my gut reaction to the first drafts of lyrics i jot down wasnt to focus in on how shitty they are. i get how ya gotta keep at it til ya get to what works. but dang, its tough to wanna do that when yer staring right at a big pile of manure.

All I know for sure is that the best lyrics I've written always feel impossible to match when I look back on them years later. Even I forget (and I wrote them) that they took many disorganized drafts, revisions, moments of inspiration, moments of grind, luck, revisions, singing, editing, singing some more and then revisions. The trick of childbirth (and surely part of our success as a species) has always been that the pain and chaos of it is disproportionately forgotten...

'Tis why the total human historical memory, keeps repeating itself also. Sadly.

Nice, it does indeed encourage just starting something and not worrying about whether it is up to standard (whatever level that may be).

Actually, more creativity and less consumption is my aim on-going. I have a tendency for perfectionism and can stall at the slightest provocation.

The rabbit hole of YouTube and Appholism doesn't help. And this forum, but I'll allow it. ;)

On the subject of David Byrne I can recommend his book "How Music Works".

Another recommendation for "How Music Works"
A great book that is wonderful and wide-ranging.

Possibly including time travel, if you’ve seen the Baron Trump (alledged) fiction. :p

  • Nicely done!
Is there a similar one for Pearl Jam's "Jeremy"?
    I. Would. Watch. That. Shit. All. Day.

He has his fingers in many pies. Not very deeply, though.
