Do I have to make hip-hop if I buy this?

No, but I think it will help...
Don't remember who it was but long time ago some one called the MPC a 'Rap Machine'...

    Damn autocorrect.

    Harsh.

    So very harsh.

Sounds like my father in 1981.
“Rap? They should call it cr—”
“Um, Dad, can I have the car or not?”

    +1

  • I'd love to know how to import the kits and also download my free "The Vault" package, which still shows $7.99

  • Yes, I'd love to know how to move all of the kits, too, please.

  • so....regarding au's in IMpc pro 2, when you record using an au, does the part get recorded to the sequence itself, so that you can arrange them , like you can do in BM3? Or does it just get recorded to a timeline independent of the sequence? Can au get loaded to pads?

It will record to a sequence. But I was hoping maybe it could be recorded to an audio track, say, if you want your 4-bar beat to keep looping while you riff away on Zeeon or whatever. There must be a way to send the midi from the AU to a track and not a sequence. Just haven't had the time to dig in.

  • I've emailed Retronyms the following - Anyone else noticed these bugs ?

@Retronyms Liking the new impc pro2 though few bugs spotted

    1. When sampling via Audioshare as an Interapp - I sampled a mono sound and had to re balance the sampled sound to Pan Left 32 to get the mono sample centered during playback as the sample plays back panned to the right more than left.

2.The in built effect sends all 3 - seem in my ears to be panned hard Left?

3.Notes are cutting out here and there during playback.

4.Almost all my interapp effects are not loading .

    Couple questions -

1.Are you planning to implement Audio Unit effects?
    2.Multi stem export?
    3.Dropbox?
4.Multi sample layer - at least 2 sounds?

    Appreciate any feedback.

Cool, thanks! recording to an audio track would be cool too but if I had to choose I would rather be able to record au parts into sequences. When I used to use an MPC 2000 and wanted to riff to a sequence Id just copy the bars of the sequence and play to it. I have all the IMpc's so far so I guess ill go ahead and get the bundle. BM3 is my go to but Ill see what IMpro pro 2 brings to the table.

One piece that may be affecting IAA use: for some hosts, IAA fx won’t work unless microphone is enabled hit them in settings...a quirk of IAA that was affecting AUM users as well.

Get Auria Pro to send MIDI Clock
Use MIDI Link Sync app to convert MIDI Clock to Link
Set iMPC Pro to use LInk

This will only sync tempo...it will not sync start/stop

  • I'm quite enjoying this. I have a couple of questions:
Am I right in assuming iMPC Pro 2 can't remember which audiounit preset you selected, so always goes to the default preset?
And is there no way to start playback from any point other than the start of a song of sequence?
Thanks in advance for your illumination.

Yes, I'd love to know how to move all of the kits, too, please

For anyone interested in moving the factory kits (“programs”) from iMPC Pro to Pro 2, the caveat is that you need your computer and ITunes or iMazing or another file transfer app.
And you will be running everything through AudioCopy 4.

I use iMazing because it’s easier, and has a free trial. (I finally bought it, because in spite of my rigid policy to remain iPad only, the computer-iPad connection remains the easiest way to do bulk file transfers, which is what this is and what has allowed me to load 10-20gb of files at a time into my favorite apps)

Using AudioCopy 4 is actually a major advantage, as it does some things when building your kits into iMPC 2, that no other file app/host combination can do - see below

First step is to go into iMPC Pro and load an empty project (you can use the zero template)

When you load the program you now have a choice: do you want to move all the programs out of iMPC Pro at once (which involves separating all the kits WAV. into seperate files) or moving kits one at a time.

The downside to the all-at-once method is you will have every .WAV from every kit in one file on your computer, and you will have to sort and place them in separate files before sending them into iMPC Pro 2.

The upside to the “all at once” method is you won’t be duplicating 2-3 steps, 25 times...

So I’ll describe the all at once method, you can figure out the one at a time method based on this.

In your empty iMPC Pro project, you are going to load each kit into its own track, using the “Track” and “Program” setting at the top of the main screen. Starting with track one, assign the first program from the list that you want, and assign it to it’s own track, then move down the tracks, and assign the rest of the programs you want to it’s own track one by one.

“Quick save” the project in the settings menu, then “export project.” The project goes to a file sharing folder. If you’ve decided to use the one at a time method, you will do this for each kit, as the file sharing only stores one “project” at a time. The file sharing protocol over writes your last export.

Connect your iPad to your computer and open IMPC Pro in your file sharing application.
The path is iMPC Pro/Documents/MPCPro Export/MPCPro Export_[ProjectData]/ (all your .WAV here)

Move the stuff into file folder(s) on you computer, sorting as you go, or in one go. For the most part it’s easy to see which .WAV belongs to each kit, it’s in the file name...

The 2 tricky kits are “World Percussion” and “Ethnic Percussion” as the distinction between these kits are arbitrary and the .WAV for each have no distinguishing file names (and groups like Conga or Acoustic Conga [?], or Indian Bell are split between the two kits)
With these two kits, I sent them out of iMPC Pro one by one so I wouldn’t have to sort through 170 samples.

Once you’ve got your kits separated into their own file which takes a minute, plug your iPad back into your computer, open AudIoCopy 4 in your file sharing application, and drop the whole pile into the “Documents” folder

If you’ve moved any of the shop kits into iMPC Pro 2, the rest should be familiar. And this part is where the AudioCopy 4/iMPC Pro 2 combination really shines...

Open iMPC Pro 2, Open a project, go to Tweak/Sounds/AudioCopy in AudioCopy go to “iTunes File Sharing” and your kits await you. Use the “Paste all” option in The AudioCopy window.

ONE THING TO MAKE SURE YOU DO EACH TIME BEFORE YOU LOAD A NEW PROGRAM FROM ACP INTO IMPC PRO 2: before opening ACP, touch pad #1!!!!

This way the kit will load from #1. If you don’t have the kit anchored this way it will spread across the pads and pages where ever you happen to have touched last.

And when the pasting finishes, in iMPC Pro 2 a pop up will be ask if you want to “Load On Pads?” Which you do...everything will go in your sounds file in the app, but loading on pads allows you to save the kit as a Program in “My Programs”

And when you want to load the entire kit in a project, from Program at the top of the screen you go to My Programs and load it with a tap just like the shop kits. All the sounds can be loaded separately of course, and if the original program had more than 64 those extra sounds also are filed in all sounds.

I’ve used the same method to move my own kits in, “Paste All” in AudioCopy, and “Load on Pads” in iMPC Pro 2 works exactly the same with any file in ACP 4...Which is a beautiful labor saving thing.

  • @ExAsperis99
    Hope it helps

One redo- the hard to sort kits are actually 3: World Percussion, Ethnic Percussion, and Ambient Acoustic...all three share an overlapping set of 170 unhelpfully labelled Akai samples, so I ended up loading these kits in the above process one kit at a time.

Quite puzzling, they could if they wanted include the factory packs from the previous version (iMPC and iMPC Pro) in the AudioCopy content store and allow owners of the apps in question to download the packs for free...

  • Still not seeing any discount despite owning Pro 1 .
