TOP 10 iOS SYNTHESIZERS 2017 │ iPad and iPhone - haQ attaQ 263

Mega round up time! Here's my TOP 10 iOS Synthesizer 2017 list. What I like the most about making these top lists is that I get to go back in time and see all the good stuff that came out during the year. Subtractive and FM synthesis seems to be the most popular types but this year we even had some proper additive synthesis implementation. On top of that, most new synthesizers have been compatible with both iPad and iPhone. It has been a good year indeed.

  • Excellent work @jakoB_haQ and lovely to see your videos evolve into such polished and well made gems.

  • Mention should be made of FM Player. Loving the layout and sounds of that one,

  • @jakoB_haQ nice video! You mentioned Kaspar is stand alone but it’s AUv3 as well.

but that is not synth.. it is sample player

@jakoB_haQ Yonac Kaspar works also as AUv3, not just standalone...

  • i shied away from kaspar because i read that it was crashy and glitchy overall. is that accurate?

  • That's a great list and another super entertaining video. (And I did a little dance when I saw I was actually in the list! :D )

Not exactly. Never had a single glitch never mind crash. Where did you get that from?Whether it’s for you is another matter

  • Awesome video! I keep hearing really good things about Zeeon, think that'll be my next purchase...

Thank you! It was fun going back watching older videos. So much have changed over this year alone. :)

Yes FM player sounds absolutely brilliant and I love it. But it's a rompler, not a synthesizer.

DOH! Completely dropped the ball on KASPAR being AUv3.

  • It would be interesting to see a top 10 Hardware synths of 2017 (one for bobeats perhaps), and one of the Desktop Software synths, just to see the gaps between the different platforms.
Having this each year would give us an indication of whether those gaps are growing or shrinking.

I can't speak for everyone however personally i have been using it a lot (IAA &a Standalone) and haven't had any crashes.

I'm happy that BeepStreet is back on iOS, his stuff has always been good. And I'm so happy that Zeeon was the first app that he made for his comeback. It's absolutely awesome!

You make really good stuff Bram! And you're such an active member of the iOS music community. I hope this year has been good to you and your ur business. I want to see what you'll make for next year! =D

    SynthScaper
    Zeeon
    Syntronik
    Kauldron
    Korg iMonoPoly
    Phosphor2
    RippleMaker
    Mood
    TroubleMaker
    NFM

    Honorary mentions:
RedShrike (if just in the date period?)
    Infinite

Soundwise this is the best that iOS has to offer, in my point of view.

  • It’s been a great year for iOS music making, hence my slight disappointment after reading that other thread regarding the vote for the best music app :(
But hey....at least we got a stack load of great noise making shit!

We've got some really similar choices. :)

After had published my video i realised that i had forgotten to invlude a whole clip about two minutes long with me sitting in front of my new studio section just talking about honorary mentions Kauldron and LayR. Had a lot to say about LayR.

Btw, Redshrike made my top 10 music apps 2016 list. It was released Nov 30'th last year. ;)

Will We be seeing a new Imseng sound bank for Zeeon? You're always making great Sounds Oliver! ;)

I promised @giku_beepstreet to deliver another one, but holiday prep and dayjob work were all I had energy for. I have started a new bank already with about 8 sounds, plan on expanding this into a new bank until the end of january. No promises but it is coming. That synth is too good not to

  • Ripplemaker and mood

Great list and video. Thanks @jakoB_haQ

  • Nice video! It reminds me what a great year it’s been for iOS synths!

I completely understand! I'm trying to prepair myself for Xmas so that I'll manage to get some of time too. I need rest.

Looking forward to your new sounds, whenever they are ready! =D

It truly has! We've had a huge amount of good apps coming out this year. I think I'm going to make a top list for fx too. So many good ones!

  • Nice list - I haven’t bought as many new synths this year, trying to make an effort to really learn some of those I already have, so I only had one from your list myself. Tempted by a couple of others though!
