Or the SoftPop if you want mad analog stuff
I can’t believe how useful my Yamaha QY700 I’ve been trying to sell for the past several years is. If it wasn’t so difficult to use, I’d find it wonderfully easy to use, to the extent that other than the fact that I haven’t actually done much with it since the late 90s because every move I make I have to refer to the copious manuals, I’d be using it all the time, such fun as it is.
Look if you can find nord lead1 desktop. Still one of the best digital oscillators and i have seen them go for like 200€+
I also say JDXI, but with the proviso you spend the extra for the Patch Base editor, opens it up completely and is more like a JD800 plus a fun little analogue synth, an extremely capable drum machine and a nice bonus sequencer.
You can even use AUM to send to both poly synths at once, so layering effectively. Huge sounds then.
FWIW, you can get iRig Pads here for $99 USD. I've ordered from them many times, and while they're not the fastest, they always deliver. It was the best price I could find for them when I was shopping for a pad controller.

I have a microkorg and recommend TB-Midi stuff to break out the controls should you go for one yourself....it comes with a microkorg template that really opens up the sound design.
The most suprising (budget) syth with an uneatable sound by far is the Roland SE-02.
Als a very cool synth that sound like a Prophet for live performing is Pioneer & Dave Smith Instruments Toraiz AS1.
The Monologue with its on board sequencer is incredibly fun. Meeblip is also a great deal for a single (mostly) analog voice with some midi only goodies under the hood.
Another vote for the Bass Station II, it can do a lot more than bass and doubles as a great midi controller with aftertouch and many labelled controllers that send midi cc. You can find them very cheap on the second hand market for unknown reasons.
They're extremely popular among lofi hiphop producers. I'm surprised you haven't found a taker yet.
I got it traded in, and I have 10% off the store. They have a minilogue... im about to
Pull the trigger, got confirmation from the wife. Is it easy for midi?
I think you'll love it. Just accept and enjoy it for what it is. Does the store have used stuff and are you ok with that? You might find a lot more value in that direction even if it means you have to be a little more patient.
I don’t understand who it is you’re about to kill – the shopkeeper, or your wife?
LOL. neither they are both being very pleasant today.
They do, they are pretty slim in that department unfortunately. I kept my cash and I may order something with my discount soon. Because I almost like the idea of minibrute more. Not sure
Monologue is more fun to play due to the motion sequencer.
Update. I found a used Bass Station 2 for 279 and I'm filling out my information now. Couldn't be more excited.
Agreed. One thing in particular the Minibrute does that I can't seem to coax out of the Monologue are really soft yet full sounds. In most ever other way, I prefer the Korg to the Arturia.
No matter, BS2 is a great synth and yer gonna have a blast @DrippyFaucet.
If I ever go hardware, I'm going the budget route as well...Behringer Model D clone and Deepmind desktop would cover all the bases for me, and are very tempting. Not sure I really need it though, already have a ton of great PC synths that sound nearly as good to my ears, including Alchemy, Sylenth, Reaktor , etc.
Very much looking forward to the release of the new virtual modular VST: Alpha Forever , from what little I've heard, it sounds as good as top shelf Eurorack hardware
