The ATH-M50x are hard to beat in the price range in terms of decently balancing enjoyable listening without being too crazy in terms of boosting frequencies (except that one spike around 10k) so that you can be reasonably accurate with mixing once you get to know them. That said, I'd probably look for different headphones for mixing vs listening, like the Sonys mentioned earlier.
KRK KNS 8400 work for me - they really are excellent. Comfy, well balanced and sublime clarity.
