VIrSyn: KING OF iOS MUSIC APPS?
I took time today to jam with Poseiden, Tera, MicroTera, Cube Synth, Addictive, and Reslice. Plus the Fx and the other remaining apps.
Wow.
They have made a huge number of amazing apps.
Just an amazing set of apps for house/electronic music.
I don't think this company gets it due respect for the quality apps they contribute.
So, I would like to do so.
VIRSYN.....you rock and your apps are really freaking awesome.
Just please add the old Addictive 4 track recorder to Addictive pro and Poseiden please...........
Feel free to join in the Virsyn love and appreciation thread!

Own them all and agree 100% with what you are saying,
Yeah, I have all their synth apps and then some...
Actually I like the sound of Addictive synth better than Addictive Pro.
When I port the patches into Pro, the sound quality deteriorate.
All in all, VirSyn deserves a Fanclub
I mean not pure volume of apps- the quality.
The only 1 complaint I can say is I wish they had more apps and they were Universal.
I was shocked by the quality when I really took a moment and jammed with no apps or intention of a song.
Every app I could produce every sound.
Percussion
Drums
Synths
Bass
Pads
Almost every app does it all really good.
RESLICE is literally my Swiss Army app.
I use it 100% time for something.
I prefer Apesoft, Klevgrand, and Audio Damage out of the more indie developers with 10+ quality apps. VirSyn’s been hit or miss, and a big miss on all of their releases since Reslice. Their synths usually sound too clinical to my ears.
I hear, you.
You are right I guess in some regards.
For out there experimental stuff Apesoft dominates for me.
For more indie type alternative new age electronica Klev is there for me as top.n
I use multiple of the Klev on my Mac like Syndt and Enkl VSTs. I only use 4 VST synth total so I guess I am fond of them more than I realized.
I dig their apps, but lately I've been wondering about overlap
I want VoxSyn... but already have iVoxel... Do i need it?
And having Harmony Voice, should I get Harmony Eight?
But gotta admit my love for what I have of theirs (iVoxel, Harmony Voice, Tera Synth, Cube Synth, Addictive Synth and microSynth)
BTW, y'all talk all the time about Reslice... Putting on my watchlist, even if I already have Egoist, Yellofier, Blocswave Sector, and Samplr as my slicers (or 'slicers') for some of them
Virsyn used to be an instabuy for me, but they’ve been a mixed bag of late, and I’ve suspicions the recent (fixed) bug in ReSlice black screened my Air 2. Saying that ReSlice is still a favourite, as is Addictive Pro and Poseidon.
I often wonder whether organisations realise how off-putting it is for an individual consumer to be faced with duplication and overlap of choices. From the organisation it seems sensible, as you’re covering all market possibilities and permutations. Any organisation would benefit from making it clearer to an individual consumer that product A1 and B3 and D2 replicate functionality more than 75% and you only really need one of them and here’s how to choose. Instead of selling all three products, they sell one and gain loyalty and faith long into the future.
[edit] fuck, did I just say all that? I read it back and it sounded like some marketing suit had written it.
I agree. I have VoxSyn & Tera synth, and they are both top tier apps - love 'em. Then there's Harmony Eight, which is extremely hit-or-miss. It's too bad since conceptually it's brilliant.
Yeah really good apps . But seems like a lot of same sounds ... posiden is my favorite
Yes I love them, quality synths that you can rely on.
MAN, I have a fear of shower curtains
I have a fear of the name Arbogast...and staircases...and overhead shots...and just lots of things.

I get it.
It it literally the problem plaguing iOS apps lately.
No end in site.
It is a war of attrition in which market forces and the will of developers meet homeostasis.
Or it won't.
ReSlice is most important app of last year for me.
It has allowed me to use a drum app, Animoog, Thor, and Reslice for 80% of my stuff excluding piano.
I AM SHOCKED THAT NO ONE ELSE IS INTO MICRO TERA!
GOD I THINK IT MAY BE THE MOST POWERFUL OF ALL THE VIRSYN SYNTHS!
I thought about your post all night.
Not you, your post.....
What do you mean?
I bought some apps from them over the holiday sale. Picked up Poseidon, iVoxel, ReSlice, Emo Chorus, and Tap Delay. Already had Bark Filter and Addictive microSynth. Everything is awesome so far, and I am planning on getting their other synths eventually (Tera and Cube, maybe even a bigger Addictive).
@RUST( i )K I love your posts
I don't own any of the VirSyn synths (though I agree they sound amazing), but prompted by enthusiastic frothing in places like this forum, I've bought a bunch of their effects apps and find them hit-or-miss. The problems I seem to have with all of them are:
1.) Their interfaces are obtuse. I get the sense that maybe they're INTENDED to be easy-to-use and intuitive, but I do not find them so; quite the opposite. They baffle.
2.) Their presets skew a little weird, don't you think? Like they're largely intended to show off the extreme possibilities of the app, rather than provide much that's immediately useful. I'm guessing this is to encourage people to use them creatively, which I can't object to per se — but in my experience, it's a barrier.
The impression I've gotten is that VirSyn apps are designed for, and loved by, people who are already well versed in the ways of audio production and design. People who know their shit will carry on about how technically advanced and exciting these apps are. Which is great for them! But personally, as an amateur I guess, I've found them hard to get to grips with, on the whole.
All that said, I have made good use of some VirSyn apps in the past and will surely do so again in the future. But they're never my go-tos. When a new VirSyn app comes out and I read, "Must buy! Must buy!" over and over, I've learned to take it with a grain of salt.
tl;dr: VirSyn apps are by audio nerds, for audio nerds, so reckons me.
Micro tera is OK and fun, but in my opinion synths like thor, Zeeon, Model 15, iWavestation, Cassini etc. are capable of much more controllable sounds. For that reason, as fun as the idea of Micro Tera might be, I never rely on it when I'm looking for a specific sound to match my music.
What I dislike with Virsyn apps is that they usually just fix things, they rarely add new features. Also it seems that users' requests are not taken seriously by Virsyn.
I hear you but to be totally honest the apps I use the most haven't ever really changed.
You quoted Thor.
Thor Animoog Sunrizer Cassini are all really the same app the day they came out.
But I appreciate your feedback.
I think the lack of "pretty shiny things" definitely give the mental image of an app that is NOT AT ALL REPRESENTED BY THE IMAGE OR GUI APPEARANCE.
For real..
Don't judge book by its cover.
For instance Addictive Cube and Micro all have touch surface manipulation with XY pads or Cube has quadrant that have moving axis, like Animoog in ways.
I used to be a little turned off by the appearance but I realized what a great personality she had.......
+1
Without any reduce expenditures.‼️
@RUST( i )K
(shhhh about microTERA...its like fight club: it won’t stay a secret weapon if we keep recommending it)
Ah OK, I should have been more clear. With some Virsyn apps, I often felt that something was missing to be useful for everyday use. I prefer few apps with much functionality over many separate apps because I don't like juggling around with audio files, FX, AB, IAA and AU plugins more than actually writing music.
Most people complain about all the other app manufacturers doing precisely the opposite.
