So glad this app is getting some love finally. Nice. Quite obviously missing IAA, but still a great update.
YES!!! Best news ever! I have an hour left of work and it just got reeealllly long.
This is great news. For those who like to compose/experiment with samples, this is the best thing out there right now. (Not to discount the very good granular players iDensity/Pulsaret which are different beasts) But for manipulating samples/phrases in a lot of very musical ways, Samplr is outstanding. I'm very glad to see the developer continue to maintain and refine this app.
Wow I thought this was abandoned and now here it is,stuffed with new features, excellent update !
Amazing piece of software. This is one of those music apps Apple should always feature, as they seem to do with the Djay apps, since it's so well designed for utilizing a touch screen in various ways without it all getting complicated. Definitely a showpiece for the iPad. Anyway, mucho thanks for the new audio import/export options, and the arp is brilliant!
Hey guys, just curious how you guys are using it? What kind of samples do you guys have in there?
I agree it is an amazing, unique app but aside from unique sounds scapes or LSD'ing out a song part, I haven't written anything on it. I've throw in some drum loops, song samples, guitar loops I've written, etc so am curious how you guys use it?
Also, for you Ableton users, can this be used like the warp feature and able to beat sync it to another sample?
Cheers guys
GJ - Sort of.. You can put a sample in, and using the quantized appregiator, get a beat synced effect, but you have to press on the slices.. So far have had outstanding results with this ... Brilliant...
You can get some real messed up Lead parts using sound fx, lasers etc. crazy ...
NOW IS THE BEST APP FOR IOS!!!
Great news Awesome app !!!
Ample elements to the app - so you can make an entire track within it or use live.
Just a reminder of what you can get done with this app alone:
@syrupcore , that was awesome. I love videos of this app. They're always so brilliant. Good stuff. Imagine how good it would sound with some decent drum samples.
Awesome! I bloody love Samplr. Use it on almost everything. At first I used it to process samples but now I record audio in and mangle it to bits before chucking it into Cubasis.
It is also really good for quick sketches and jams. Awesome effects mods too. Just a really quality app.
So happy for this update Anyone seen any midi settings or does it just auto pickup sync? I've tried clock from Cubasis - but no chow yet
syrup, that was siiiick...did you make that? Excellent...
I bought it when it was released but i never found it that useful for my music.I missed a kind of grid quantization for more"structured"results.I guess i'll give it another try now.
This app is fantastic! I'm really happy the dev continues to improve it.
Ovedub recording is very nice, thanks.
This is something I did with it sometime ago, very inspiring app.
@syrupcore - very fucking cool man! Thnx for sharing!
I guess I just need to learn how to really use this app and the different parameters. Does it have a syrupcore IAP where I can just push one button that'll do what you did in the vid ?
Do you have any live vids of you performing?
@Jango Mango - thanks for the tips! I'll give em a go!
Gaz Williams has a new video with some of the new features.
I don't know syrupcore's real name. The samplr video that syrupcore posted is by someone who goes by the name JoLu MSosa on YouTube. Syrupcore probably just posted the video. On the other hand JoLu could be syrupcore. I have no idea and I'm not trying to stir up trouble. I just wanted to give credit to JoLu's work. The song was made entirely from samples that are already included with samplr, so in theory anyone could do the same thing, but of course it takes a lot of work and creativity to put it all together.
Bought it yesterday!
It's gonna take me some time to master, but really great stuff!
Cheers for the vids!
Great video by Gaz Williams. Pity he has had to sell all his furniture, carpet and even his shoes to fund his appaholism!
(btw: not seen a new Sonic Touch for a while now!)
Need to resurrect this app and have another go with it!
If im allowed to be a bit negative.
The app crashes a bit too often. Not while playing but usually while handling samples.
These videos are very cool. Especially like Ribeiro's stringsy work. My own Samplr adventures tend to be far less structured (or aimed at all) - which for me is the beauty of this app. You can create some amazing freeform musical gibberish or incredible soundtracks and soundscapes. Probably the best experimental app around.
Yeah,
About the experimental part.
This is probably the first "experimental" app i've tried, that i havent gotten bored or frustrated with within the first 20 or so minutes.
@Crabman Same here. I miss some quantization features. Maybe they are already implemented and I didn't found them ;-)
@klangsulfat - if you hit the question mark in the top right it will bring up a visual tutorial and will describe each mode and their specific settings, which a few of them have quantization but it's showed as an icon of a wave and line. Check out the tutorial tho....
That video isn't me!
@FRibeiro sweet video man! dig the tune as well.
nice work @FRibeiro! Did you mix the video streams to make the final mix or is the video a 'lip sync' to the original mix?
@syrupcore - lol oh sorry. thnx for posting vid regardless
@FRibeiro - is that you in video? Very cool vid as well. I like the song. I dont know if you like her but I could imagine Bjork singing over it.
i had a big "duh" moment when I realized you could adjust the markers.
