I've recorded every take I've tried in Samplr with my camera when I was experimenting with those samples (it took a while, hehe), and used the ones that worked in the final edit for the video. All loops were done in Samplr as usual (it's a 6-track/64-beats loop). I've captured those loops on six separate tracks in my external DAW (could have used Audiobus), synced them, and then muted tracks when necessary to build the song, as I'm planning to improve it and release it in the future, who knows... (the loops in Samplr could be played back and tweaked in realtime the same way to achieve the same results). No external effects or processing, only a simple "volume mix" in the DAW, as I wanted to preserve the original sound of the app. String samples are from old Akai libraries, rhythms are factory samples.

Yes I like Bjork and it would be a dream to hear her singing over it :) Actually there's some sort of connection between her music and my trip into the iOS world, as Reactable Mobile was my very first app. I've always wanted to tweak the original table after watching one of her concerts, and when I knew it was available as an app it was one of the reasons I bought my first iPad, hehehe.

  • Such a great app. I dug into it again last night after being inspired by all of these videos. I think I'm going to be stuck in there for a while now. It was the same when I first got the app since it really fits well into what I like to do. I guess I just succumed to my app addiction and started playing with other new toys and sort of forgot about it. Never again! ;-) well at least not until there's another app or a cool update anyway.

  • is anyone else confused about the midi clock sync? no apps i use (beatmaker 2, glitchbreaks, dm1) can see it, glitchbreaks can send the clock but it doesn't stay reliably in time. no settings in samplr about it.

  • I don't remember how much pay for Samplr….
But I think this is an app to pay 35€ minimum.

  • My last live recordings I made with Samplr 1.3 through AB and WOW2 in effect and AudioShare in Output with Space as IAA effect at tha end:

  • @FRibeiro That is an awesome video. Great editing and nice track! What camera and programs did you use for the filming & editing?

  • @Sinapsya - nice tune. I like how the keyboard sounds evolved into a drumbeat. Dont ask me why but i pictured martin gore singing a melody over it

  • @gjcyrus maybe because the samples sound like a song from construction time again!

  • @gjcyrus You are the second guy that say me this thing…..I don't known Martin Gore, need to go on Google to see who is...

  • @gjcyrus ahaa ok, Depeche Mode….Thanks :)

  • @ nvrhxd - Yes I've had no luck either. I asked a while ago on this thread but don't think anyone else is trying to midi it cause no-one's mentioned anything.

Fortunately is sounds brilliant anyway and I can noodle in it all day, but would be lovely to be noodling over something in my daw ;)

I haven't tried to sync it yet, gonna try.

@gjcyrus, the camera is a Nikon D90. The video was edited on Adobe Premiere. Sound was recorded on Sonar X1.

  • Midi sync thing?...me too

i found a bit of a workaround to the midi sync issue...

it seems that out of the apps i have, the only apps that samplr will actually receive a clock from are glitchbreaks and loopy. recently i've been arranging synths and drums in beatmaker2 so i wanted it to sync to that.

so what i did was fire up loopy, samplr, and BM2, then set loopy as the master clock and have bm2 slaved to it. samplr still skips a beat sometimes but it's better than nothing.

edit: i don't know how samplr is receiving a clock either. midibridge doesn't see samplr when it's open, nor does glitchbreaks or loopy.

I had Funkbox and Samplr locked up last night. Didn't set anything; just opened them both and suddenly Funkbox was the master. Wouldn't mind more control but sometimes 'just works' is wonderful. Funkbox is a clock champ though - I haven't tried clocking Samplr with anything else yet.

    .

  • This is making me crazy, esp as the developer hasn't said much on this ... When you say you synced funkbox and samplr, did you have to adjust anything in funkbox?

  • oh, holy thread resurrection... wow...and a nasty sneak too. I was PUMPED when I saw the headline. But nope, it's just an ancient thread being updated to tease me. Damn.

    Yeah got me too :(

  • Hahaa, I was fooled, too. It's easy to get it wrong, when I'm opening the site each day drooling for new Apps and updates...

  • :----)
    yeah @Boone51
    me really too!
    holy damn....

  • Whoooooooaaaat??!!
