I’m feeling similar, although I will probably grab the gen 3 Pro when it comes out (especially if they do a mini size one) for the most possible juice for Audulus. If I did not have an octatrack to throw my lil iPad doodles in, I would definitely have given up and gone back to looping my ukulele and beatboxing.

Pretty much every time o use BM3, it’s a battle between yes this is great, how easy to make lil octafood loops, and fuck this program, crashing againnn!

  • I have yet to have a crash on the latest build. IOS latest iPad 2017

  • Absolutely love IOS11 and my iPads.

  • so the consensus is that iOS 11 is the business or that it is not the business?

iOS 11 probably has more code from the upcoming transition (and meltdown ) between Apple OSes so brings a lot of spikes to non-Pro devices, freezes things to keep dock and shadows in place and bring things half cooked that will be implemented after ironing bugs which will be never due this rat nosense race called innovation...
Then if you want to use the promised killer apps you must enter the waterfalls and try to keep you dry.
iOS 12 will probably be an snow leopard version for iDevices. I’m not making a hiperbole, I believe it will be truly snow leopard ported to ARM

I can assure you that spikes happen on both ‘pro’ and non pro devices.

  • Cubasis with a bunch of au and iaa/audiobus apps are the reason I'll keep using iOS.
It's the only daw I tried so far without all the confusing options and crashes (BM3,AP). Gadget is closed environment and not an option for me.

I was thinking of trying Cubasis again, but I think I would miss Rozeta (only just got used to it’s name change lol) and using the pad grid to enter notes.

  • Cubasis is the only constant in my ever changing landscape

@Dubbylabby It's quite an old machine but I know a lot of people swear by the Yamaha RM1x as the centre of a live setup. Especially if you have a few modules to control. Often see these going for not much money in the used market.

Yes I check grooveboxes twice a week in second hand. Rm1x not my preferred but Roland MC909 are here around 400€...
Also electribes or Sp808/555... I was waiting for NAMM to see if Roland release something new but nope :expressionless:
The nearest thing I’m finding my way will be probably the ToRaiz or SU700 since I need something working with loops like Launchpad app (but midi thanks) or arranger-like but with audio possibilities (which usually means Roland once again o Ketron which are out of my scope ATM). Laptop/mac mini not an option neither until they get cheaper by getting old (but not my first choice anymore)

Roland's new SP sampler was introduced last August. A (slightly) enhanced SP-404.
    https://ask.audio/articles/roland-introduces-sp404a-linear-wave-sampler-for-aira-series

It received a lukewarm reception in most circles, especially after being announced on the heels of the release of BM3.

It’s revamped sp404 with specific Aira sounds and midi adapted to perform with the other Airas (in fact it’s possible to update the sp404sx firmware to be exactly the same).

I was expecting more an Aira sp808 or similar (the rumoured ACB sampler) but Roland released the Dj808 which is far from my definition of standalone and for Serato far from my definition of 2018 djing. :grimace:

Not updating your OS could be an option if you don't need connection to the internet and you don't buy or upgrade any software that uses/needs the newer OS to function. But if you do need the internet, remember the big security issue regarding CPUs, this could become a big problem for you, if you don't update the OS, unless a JB solution is available.

I updated to ios 11 for Rosetta too on my old air but I lost a lot of good apps ( SpaceLab,synthx, beatsurfing (10 euros),midibridge, electrosiren,i am tpain, caelestis etc ). But since Ios 11 i feel my ipad became slower (it take 2 minutes to see my storage And delete an app ). The Ios System is bigger And bigger And im not sure my Air 2 with 64 Go support Ios 12 .
