If this synth isn’t AUv3 supported then I won’t be buying and I really want this synth on my iPad

    Hi guys,

This is Bulent from KV331 Audio. Just wanted to give you guys some information regarding the development of SynthMaster One for iPad (Initially it'll be for iPad):

I looked into the AUv3 specification, it looks easy to implement, and I believe I can easily fit it into our architecture. One big question though: Since AudioBus3 already supports AU, I don't see any reason to support AB3 at the same time. Also, the introduction of AUv3 makes IAA obsolete in my opinion so we might not support that at all.

As for the price we're planning $29. Some folks found that price high, however don't forget the fact that all 800 factory presets that come with the desktop version come with the iOS version as well: We might bundle the synth with 500 presets and when the users completes registration by entering their names and email addresses, they can download the remaining 300 (or more, because we will continue releasing new factory presets this year). When we start releasing expansions, they'll even be able to download the desktop banks they purchased from us, just as in the Player version.

  • FYI: The only feature difference between desktop and iOS version will be the polyphony: Desktop has 32 polyphony, but iOS will have 16.

  • I also wish to make the UI for AUv3 full size..

  • AU is the future so having just that will be fine (IMHO). Yes it sounds on the expensive side but it also sounds like a great synth!

I think majority of users would prefer AU over IAA/AB3. Running multiple instances and state saving is a huge advantage. I think $29 is reasonable but it does put it into the pricier range for iOS synths

Sounds good so far. i’m very excited for synthmaster one in ios. Couple questions though.1. when is the release date?2.you say desktop banks will be able to be downloaded just like synthmaster and synthmaster player. this process is currently very time consuming and doesn’t even work sometimes. do you have any plans to make this process more simple and more reliable.? I hope so because i am a huge fan of synthmaster, and would love to be able to share presets between ios and desktop easily. thanks

  • Synthmaster One provide AU support from day one. That’s good to know!

  • Will sound pack purchases made in Synthmaster Player be transferred to Synthmaster One when the app installs?

  • @Greg said:
It will have a great intro sale price, then the price will go up, and then next year during NAMM, it wil be totallt free.

Where does this reminds me of... The only thing I can come up with is BM3, which I got for free. So probably I'm holding of til next year's NAMM :)

This would indeed be nice, but as the architecture of the two synths is different, I doubt very much that would work.

It was a joke. I don't realy think that wil happen.

  • Awesome! Looking forward to it!

  • @kv331audio just an extra thought - with the MPE standard having been agreed and more people owning MPE controllers, having this implemented in Synthmaster One would be superb!

Only AU is fine (so happy you are going AU first!!!) and a fair price in my opinion. Looking forward for it!

  • I hope going AU doesn’t mean waiting for release until Q4 if 2018. o:) <3

It was great to interview you for the video and I cant wait to make music with it.

  • hmmm, $29.00. I didn't think I would get this app, I have SMP, and I love it. Bought almost every sound pack IAP in it, Transferred a lot of presets from my desk top SMP too. But, I think $29.00 is an ok price. More than Nave and the like, but, less than a lot of Korg synths. 800 presets too. Yay. I think I will probably buy this one now. :)

Full size in GarageBand as well as AUM/Beatmaker? (They use different API to accomplish this)

  • @kv331audio Will there be any support to already desktop users?

  • Meanwhile they never fixed the broken Synthmaster Player. They don't have a very good iOS track record so far.

  • What issues are you having? Mine works great!

I haven't used it in a while since I deleted it from my ipad out of frustration. It works great by itself, until you want to connect it to any other device. Last time I tried... Audio glitches, CC channels using virtual midi doesn't work at all on certain channels (CC 1) or doesn't work correctly on others. IAA doesn't work correctly in MTS... sending midi to the app using IAA doesnt work and/or MTS isn't receiving any audio from it through IAA either.

Such problems would not occur with the AudioUnit version as SMPlayer would run as a plugin inside the host app.

Right after I complete my work on SynthMaster One AU, I will add AU support for SMPlayer as well.
