Another one I might have missed... really the last one for now... STEREOLAB

Lilimarlene Premilovich (if I remember her name correctly)
The best thing about that (although it is a great song too) is Emmylou Harris crying in the audience.
The Waitresses
@tomato_juice That sounds intense! Really like Angel Olsen too
This is a great thread so far, I have remembered some more...
Alexa Diane (love her first 2 albums)
Grouper
Sharon Van Etten
Waxahatchee
Soap & Skin
Agnes Obel
I also get goosebumps from this Lera Lynn song that I discovered watching True Detective.
It's quite dark and depressing but for some strange reason I find it really uplifting
Thank you whoever recommended Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. "The Kid" is a wonderful record. Reminds me of early Colleen (but more romantic) or the Knife (but less Scandinavian/dark).
For comparison.
Colleen, "Everyone Alive Wants Answers"
The Knife, "Silent Shout"
(This count?)
(Arp Odyssey, by the way)
Seeing the early Cher video freaked me out some, what with the gypsy campfire and the fortune-telling wagon in the background.
That got me looking back into early 70s stuff. One thing led to another and I found this Wendy Waldman song.
Three minutes in when Linda Ronstadt howls the wolf vocals sent chills through me. If I could time travel then I would love to go back to Laurel Canyon back in those days.
Pretty sure none of these have been mentioned, but I got excited and wanted to share
Karen Dreijer from The Knife (in a Roykksop song)
Florence Welch is a fav
Elohim is pretty neat, just found out about her.
Chelsea Wolfe is probably tops.

Rachel Sweet
Carly Rae Jepsen
Nina Persson (of the Cardigans and A Camp)
Olivia Newton-John (especially the Totally Hot album)
Shura
Scandal ft. Patty Smyth
Nothing beats a quality raspy female voice.
