  • @JohnnyGoodyear First, thanks for the reminder on here to keep copies of things. Lost a love letter to a loose lever arch file and have cried continuously since. And YES, the predicament is familiar. Stop. Freeze. Chords. Ache. Faces. He pushed her down the bloody stairs Sir! Strewth. Mourning meadow grass.... The clips.... Are these visual emotion shakers tucked away in a drawer of despair, or sourced from elsewhere please? Astounded by the skill/creativity/CONNECTION to these heavy, blistered feelings. Didn’t take long to find the combination to the safe that houses the want/need for from the heart uncooked/unmilled/undisguised/unprocessed vocals. You didn’t sing this, you LIVED it. Pure pain philanthropy. Know what I’m trying to say, hope you do to. Words eh! B+

  • @LostBoy85 Excuse me Leo... Gorgonzola? Lake Superior snare? Hate it? No way. Love it! Smile rules molecules in The Poxy. On it like a drug every night. Surprised you haven’t worked out who ‘Timbre Tom’ is yet. And karaoke down The George on a Tuesday immediately after ladies darts.... Trying to harmonise with drunk Welsh women singing “Eric Bristow? I’d rather use a d....” to The Manics A Design for live, is incredibly educational to voice control techniques. But please Shevaun, stay where you are, and keep our Leo under control. You outshine your singing buddy but don’t wear a Casio watch. Can’t wait to take on ‘Ladies in Red’ with you. Love to sing that song but not as much as I love this. You two collaborators sing beautifully together and you must do so again. I thought it was quite spikey Leo. Perfect pop. Congratulations. See you tonight in the booth. B+. B+. :)

  • @AndyPlankton Well? Where’s the rest of the council estate song? Been off travelling?
Are you clairvoyant? Artwork. Sky Blue VW camper van heading to South Africa to dive (die) with Great Whites. The final tick off the list. Zebedee working through a bag of speed balls, springing around in Egypt, balancing on a camel and sharing Bow Wow Wow filtered cigarettes for fun. There’s a snake sounding like a bear and Alexis Sayle impersonating Darth Vadererer singing Cotton Eye Jose from the back of a rusty dumper truck that sits idle on a construction site. They’re building a new estate down the road. Number 89 is almost finished and the tenants are already dropping leaflets asking for old settees for their front lawn. Boing, boing, bounce. B+ :)

  • @cuscolima A tap dripping. It stops. The blocked hole ordered it to. It isn’t the usual smegma’d, clotted hair or lively limescales preventing exit for the electrically charged liquid, it is part of the process you choose. Good on you for passing down your knowledge of valves. See, your wobble is of the fluttering butterfly variety opening to allow the sick/disabled H20 to flow below to slow sewers to die in peace. There’s a queue. Mmmm, is that something in the pipes shouting ‘vocals’, to be provided by a talented gentleman who is from this Parish. Feeling tones of Brighton in here. Time for a bath. Walter hasn’t long left (it’s his globular, glandular, gasping) before you valve him. He was a lifelong thong wearer. Eventually it split his drip in two. Your song shall accompany his journey South. B+ :)

  • Not keen on February myself Luke. Every Feb since 1965 has involved hassle. Glad it’s gone.

Please bear with me. This takes me back to an American base in Southern Germany in The Cold War days. After a joint Military exercise, our American friends were presented medals for doing so well (we just do the bloody job :) ) and laid on an outdoor party to celebrate. A live band played upbeat country music and we all swapped weapons with the violent violinist who made us dance in heavy boots and hard helmets. It was a riot. Then, the stage lights dimmed, we shut up, jaws (that weren’t already broken) dropped as THIS song oozed like comforting salted caramel from the genuis band in front of us....All around us. It was in the air, inescapable pleasure. We swayed together, looked at each other, held each other, thanked each other, and drank to each other. This song could be that song. I cannot pay you and your band a higher compliment. B+ :)

  • The above is for you @lukesleepwalker. Sorry. The four Febs before ‘65 were even worse. :)

  • @Jocphone Simple. Your song makes me cry. Needed it. Thank you.

Thanks. And you. Ripped the bath from the bathroom, (whoops) and this ‘erbert Sid is off to show these youngsters how fast, fast should be tearing down mountains, out of control and through the white bumps (not over, where’s the fun in that?) with his dad Freddie the Beagle. LOOK OUT! :)

  • Thanks for the hilarious reviews @Bluepunk, you haven't lost any of your sharpness despite your loss.

  • @lukesleepwalker a pretty accomplished ballad, great to hear a full band on here as well for a change, most of us are solo dabblers.

Nice guitar playing, especially like the interplay between the 3 guitars, and the lead playing which is nicely understated.

Lovely vocals, both on the lead and also the female backing. Good melodies, and nice flow to the song.

Yes, sorry gaffer, honestly feel like I’ve let myself down not videoing this month and of course with the inclement weather had the time to do so, but it felt as though it wasn’t me telling me a give you all a rest this month. Thanks Richard, appreciate it. And your kind thoughts. From Sid as well. :)

Yes, top work reviewing Bluey, you are a beacon in the blizzard. I'm heading up to Morecambe this weekend so I will keep an eye out for Sid and Freddie flying past in a bath, when you overshoot the ski slope.

I've omitted couple of reviews this month, those people who've just dumped their tracks in the thread without interacting or providing feedback to others (you'll know who you are). If you don't actually take the time to listen to the other tracks that have been posted, why should anyone listen to yours?

Morecambe? Are you mad? Even it wasn’t for the snow stopping me..... :) Safe trip Bear Grylls.

Sorry Richard, didn’t ask how it is down your way? Talking too much meteorologists stuff may tempt this lying bastard down to our Club. Yeah Mike... :)

  • Yup the Blizzard has reached us down here in sunny Kent. Walking the dog in the mornings is a bit like going on an arctic expedition, I come home with a numb face and a speech impediment. I've learnt to avoid the beach (and therefore the worst of the wind) this week.

And that’s exactly why I continue to crawl with crooked back along every part of the coastline for that elusive ferocious-facial-freeze delivery I crave on a vocal. Glad you’re in one piece.

“Your right boss. Stupid idea. I just tried it and failed miserably.”

It’s colder down here. Wasn’t good at backslang either. :)

  • @LostBoy85 It was 1985 and I had a job working in a dry cleaner shop cleaning the bathroom and polishing the floor with this hulking beast of a machine that I still don't fully comprehend, much less could tame. Besides the smell of that place, which is imprinted so deeply in my head that I can conjure it any moment, the overwhelming memory I have is of the power ballads they played all day long on the radio (WARM98!). It is a testimony to your compositional skills and craft that your tune immediately brought me back to that dry cleaner shop. It is so authentic to that time/place that I felt like I was THERE for a couple of minutes. Well done.

  • @AndyPlankton damn, enjoyed that track quite a bit. well done! while I admit that it started to wear a little thin toward the end, there's so much good stuff in the first 2:30 or so, that I'd say this is worth coming back to and really stretch in different directions to see if you can take it over the top. wouldn't take much, i reckon. enjoyed it.

  • @Jocphone and @Bluepunk this one is back on track with the Christmas tune from a couple of months ago--last month's submission seemed like a left turn into some place where bad things happen (which can be fun and interesting if you choose to make it so). I'm a big fan of the Buckley original and even appreciate the This Mortal Coil version--your take is completely original, to be sure. The absolute pinnacle of the tune is at about the 2:56 mark as the lyric "my heart shies from the sorrow" trails off and the guitar (?) goes off in a most agreeably holy racket. I smiled a big smile when I heard that.

@rickwaugh Now this woodland wonder is yet to appear in National/Woodland Trust brochures down here. Yes, vivid scenes painted in sounds played by bluebells, then nettles, that you have me peering through laid on top of the moss bank overlooking the stages of a hunt.

“Stoats to the left of me, Squirrels to the right,
here I am stuck in the middle with you.” - Beavers Kestrel.

Your playing exudes calmness/pluckiness/coolness and congratulations on the crystal clear video/audio. B+

Many thanks for the vivid visuals, blue. You is a genius of prose, you is; I can see you ranting that quite nicely.

I do enjoy the bad places that @bluepunk and I get to visit but understand that it takes time to recognise another’s journey. It is quite heartwarming to hear that one of our songs provided you with a moment.
