  • Until now i didn't bought any iPad only apps like Auria. The price is heavy but what i really need is an app for great headroom when it comes to mixing. Seems Auria is great for this but with all inn-app-purchases i could get a desktop daw. Is it worth the price?

  • @Galaxyexplorer Aah but there's the rub... yes, if you buy Auria and all its IAPs, you'd have spent approximately the same as for a desktop DAW...but, without the IAPs...
Many of the Auria in-app purchases, like the excellent Fabfilter ones, are also available for desktop DAWs...but at 5-10 times the cost of the iOS versions, which have the exact same functionality...

@Galaxyexplorer To choice a DAW is a fundamental decision, I would wait for few months. Cubasis with IAA and automation has been announced. Nanostudio 2 is on the way. Beside this, I think there will be the one or other surprise in the DAW segment soon. Why not working further with BM2 on the iPad?

Galaxyexplorer, you have confirmed my mini retina order. Like I said before, my old mini was less powerful than my iPad 3, and yet I hardly used the 3. The light weight of the mini just means you can hold it for hours without a problem. And you just get used to the size. Full size iPads just seem massive now....

  • @Simon -- LOVE the Mini, the new screen is just perfect, and the speed is quite zippy, even if iOS 7 has some rough edges.

I haven't been able to put it to much musical use yet because I'm still restoring from backup (it's taking a LONG time to restore my previous 64GB backup via iTunes). I actually want to wipe it and start from scratch, but I need to backup some song file content from Cubasis, BM2, Loopy, etc before I do that.

  • Someone can post a performance of new Mini Retina with Auria?

  • I tried Cubasis both on the Air and on the Mini Retina. At least for my fat fingers, Cubasis on the Mini is not my cup of tea. So my choice will definitely be the Air. Now waiting that the black one is available again at the local dealers here.

  • I went with the iPad mini 2 as it has a smaller form factor which should make it more useful for apps that use the motion sensors for inputs. It will also give me the chance to see how I like the new size as I anticipate it will only be current for 2-3 years before I'll need to buy another iPad to run the current software. Traded in my iPad 3 while it was still worth something.

  • I just traded in my iPhone5 and mini for the iPhone 5s and mini retina. The retina is 32G, compared to 16G on my mini. Also got the cellular retina whereas the mini was wifi only. Both iPhones were 16G. Ended up costing me $200 out of pocket. Should have the retina in a couple of weeks.

  • My retina iPad mini has gone from processing to preparing for dispatch...:-)

  • Mine was supposed to be delivered today but unfortunately I waited in vain. I hope they'll get their act together tomorrow. I stayed home all day. Bummer.

  • It's been dispatched......from China!!

    Hopefully here Monday....

  • I got mine this morning. I love it so far!

Oops I read something wrong... disregard! :-)

  • ipad mini retina - audio interfaces??

has anyone tried the new ipad mini with an usb audio interface (roland duo capture-ex, itrack solo, scarlet 2i2, avid fast-track solo/duo...)??

i want to buy an audio interface, but all of them seem to be not compatible with new ios7 & idevices...

    any tip on this?

    thanks in advance!

  • My Retina Mini works just fine with my Apogee One. Of course the One has its own power supply and/or AA battery power. But the iOS compatibility is perfect.

  • Works great with the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, which of course is AC powered. I'm guessing you are concerned about the smaller interfaces using bus power? In the event you have issues there, a powered USB hub is the likely solution.

    thanks for the responses...

the 18i20 is too big for me, i am looking for a more portable option. the apogee duet would be ideal, but it's 600€! ...mmmm

i am thinking about an iconnectmidi2, as i always perform together with my mac to trigger video-mapping visuals, and i have an old presonus audiocard, which could make the trick using audiopassthru technology from iconnectmidi.

...i wish roland capture-ex would work with mini retina ios7. i really like that one.

  • @eccecelllo, this post is interesting... http://auriaapp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=11150 . They use an external battery and a Y USB cable to get around the power issues.

  • @sonosaurus cool idea... thanks. but i don't have problems to power it... ?? i just want to know if these audio interfaces are compatible with ios7 and ipad mini retina.
