Cubasis 1.7 with IAA incoming!

  • Thanks Crabman. Now I can't wait for the Cubasis update so we can see how well they implemented IAA. Just to let you know I have had great success with StepPolyArp syncing to Cubasis using the Midibridge Localhost trick(method?).Works great sending Animoog or Thumbjam chord progressions through JamUp or Amplitude!

  • I would love to use a drum machine that syncs perfectly with cubasis.DM1 would be so great. Will the dream ever come true? :)

  • @crabman, I feel your pain. Love DM-1 and can't use it programming in Genome because of the virtual midi debacle. Molten is the only app I can get to play nice with GMS and I've not had much luck trying to import my own samples, so it's super limiting.

  • Molten also works with cubasis quite well. But I don't like the sound engine unfortunately. When i start to tweak sounds the audioquality is seriously going down.

  • @Crabman I don't get DM1 synchronized by Cubasis. Theoretically it should work, because synchronizing iElectribe with Cubasis works out of the box w/o any problems. Any idea what's wrong with DM1 (or Cubasis)?

  • There we go, soon soon :)

    Cubasis 1.7 update coming soon!
    by crohde » Thu Nov 21, 2013 9:22 am

    Hello,

The Cubasis 1.7 update is just around the corner. Here is what you can expect from the update.
Please note that with this update you will need an updated version of the Cubasis Project Importer to be able to read Cubasis 1.7 projects in Cubase. This updated importer (v.1.4) will be available soon.
The list of fixes, issues and solutions will be added to this thread soon.

    NEW FEATURES
    FULL INTER-APP AUDIO SUPPORT

    • Use Inter-App Audio apps as insert/send effects.
    • Choose Inter-App Audio apps as instruments for your MIDI tracks.
    • Select any Inter-App Audio app as input on audio tracks.

    OTHER

    • Inputs popup added to the inspector to easily assign tracks
    • New in-app help system including interactive search function.
    • AudioCopy 2.0 SDK has been implemented.

Please read carefully this important information before submitting bug reports:
    Limitations of Inter-App Audio

    • The maximum number of possible Inter-App Audio connections depends on the device. Newer faster devices can make more connections than older ones.
    • Connections are abruptly cut without notice by iOS if your device runs low on memory.
    • Connections sometimes fail if the node app is already running (due to a bug in iOS 7).
    • As a rule of thumb: Quit all audio apps, launch Cubasis and then connect Inter-App Audio nodes.
    • Don't launch node apps manually before launching Cubasis.
    • Connected node apps don't always appear in the iOS multitask mode when you double tap the home button. This is an iOS 7 issue which can lead to connections failing. As a workaround, launch the node app manually from the home screen, then double tap the home button and swipe up to quit it.Best regards,

  • I've noticed, unlike Audiobus, that none of the DAW's that act as receivers can act as instruments. To me this is weakness, although, from what I can gather, if you use effects via IAA you don't need a Cubasis to Cubasis like set up

  • IAA is great for what it does and might in the future. But there still is Audiobus :) So for me iOS Music making became heaven with the mini retina and air and AB and IAA. Perfectly complements my main Ableton Live Studio Setup, I don't care about some of the shortcomings, I have never been more flexible than I can be now :)

  • Audiocopy 2.0...i was really hoping they put in the damn oneliner of code for audioshare first.I tried my best to stick their nose into this in their forum :)

@klangsulfat:i guess you misunderstood my post.Molten is working with cubasis but DM1 doesn't.Probably with some magic from midi bridge but i never tried it.

  • Keine Sorge, ich hab das schon richtig gelesen ;-)

I just wanted to make sure that I didn't had overseen a setting. Now I know that DM1 is the problem.

Regarding to the Steinberg forum you can also freeze the IAA stuff. Yeah!

    http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=50572

    Also great:

    • Routing option “No Instrument” has been put on top of list in the instrument list.
  • edited November 2013

@PaulB Thanks. I already know that workaround but I hoped this fundamental feature was fixed in the mean time.

  • Regarding"routing option"no instrument"has been put on top of the instrument list"=HOLY CRAP,YES :)

And freezing IAA's sounds also great.I was really hoping that IAA instrument bouncing will be THAT easy.I'm still scratching my head how the project saves IAA's.I mean,do i just close a project and it will shutdown all IAA's in the background automatically or do i need to force close them manually after opening a new project? Can't wait to try it.

Nothing wrong with AudioCopy 2.0, glad it's added so everyone on iOS 7 still can do multiple ACPs between apps while still being inside the app you're copying/pasting from/to.

While IAA/ACP2 and so on is great, I do really hope Steinberg have fixed all issues that in the current (and earlier) version causes users projects to get wiped.

  • Steinberg says: 1.7 is available now!

    http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=50572

But it is not yet in the store. Hopefully it will arrive within the next few hours ;-)

  • Ok…Now I need an IAA Drum Machine….

  • I am very impressed with the MIDI sequencing of apps via IAA. Not something I expected to see for some time. Well done Steinberg!

  • Super Awesome, loving it!

    ST

  • +1 for a proper drum App, hope Steinberg would add their drum app as a VST with IAA . Now that would be something to look forward to.

  • Can iMPC now be used as an instrument in Cubasis? Shame if it can't. Why would an app. with no DAW capabilities whatsoever be have only host capability?

  • Thats an easy one:because they want to force you to use Tabletop.Retronyms made the app and i can imagine they made contracts about exclusivity.

I found this particular part to be very interesting:

    Hi Carlos,
Will it support multiple instances of the same instrument?
For instance, 5 midi track that pilot 5 instances of sampletank?

    Thanks

Nope, that's not possible.IAA is restricted to one instance per app.

    >

That's correct, that's an IAA limitation. You can however freeze one track, unload the app and then load it to a new track.

By the way, if you want to do quotes in messages, you just do like with old email, and add a "> " before each line of quoted text. You can also nest them by using ">> " or ">>> ".
