@Cib the fact I was working on a song in the couch yesterday and someone ring the door and I go there with the song in my hands (BM3) is the nearest to put FT2 or Cubase at same level of my PT87/wakman/desktop in portability terms. Next mile for the iPhone and garageband anywhere freaking people with smart instruments.
I will never do music on my couch with a laptop (or surface due mouse dependency). It has compromises but also opened a new paradigm (which I enjoy most than old fruity producing which was my most beloved musicking time)

@Samu why not use sunvox directly? Snake? I remember it comes with it, no?

I can follow this. I create most of my stuff on the couch but with my notebook since i had bad experience to do the same with my iPad Air. A lot more uncomfortable to use since i can´t put it on my lap like i do with a (stable) notebook. And i use multi-touch and tactile feedback at the same time while i also don´t have to focus always what is on the screen. I also think that so much iOS apps are NOT very multi-touch friendly and that is a big contra too for me. But the biggest thing of course might be for me that the workflow is so slow on iOS if i want to create a whole track and have just spare time.
And if i create something there better no one rings at the door since i´m anyway in another world then :#
But in this case i just close the thing in a second an open it again after that in another second while my iOS apps are still not playing together. Fact is also that i just can´t have the tools i want on iOS and so i have no choice, even when i sometimes think "just use the damn iPhone and nothing else again".

I’m agreed on PITA but it could be done even on Garageband so portability focus is ok and most of the time laptop/desktop is a must to end tracks. I’m still dealing with BM3 and my Garageband tracks are far from “professional” (but wasn’t my idea neither )

Anyways workflow and tools are personal. I tried to go back with old laptops (core2duo 1 gb ram...) and Ableton 8.2.5 glitches (probably due ram) which made me wonder how marvelous is BM3 which also glitches a bit but is in my hands ATM!

So I still look for hardware based solutions becoming one of these headz I usually try to avoid... :bawling:

This. The ultimate mobile music maker. Ukelele if there are space constraints.

  • My first attempt at mobile beat making was on my PSP 1000. I put custom firmware on it and that probably was the greatest decision I’ve ever made. I downloaded this homebrew called PSP Rhythm and it was pretty cool. I never really stuck with it cause I had an MPC 1000 at the time and it just worked better. I did sample some of the sounds in it. This had to be around 2008-2009

And this was pretty neat too...from the makers of Grand Theft Auto...

These used to make a great 'I fell love' bass sound when attached to the cupboard door handle and using the cupboard as the soundboard/amplifier

  • Whistle on a blade of grass was what i did before as well. Something i could afford and play :#

But the truth is i really LOVE these self made or prepared instruments if they are really tunable and deeply sampled. My favorite kind of instruments. So characterful and organic but out of this world.

Or take it to engineer level:

  • Even techno needs no cables (in theory):

  • Before iOS, before PC, before Atari 1040ST, before Amstrad CPC-464, was this!

  • One of the (few) great things about humans is they always find a way to be creative and let other people enjoy this:

No apologize to have no tools :)
