PSP Rythm!

Tenori On
Still use it from time to time.
Renoise along with iZotopes Stutter Edit has been a dream combination for me.
that looks cool
That looks cool
Does that thing have Link support, though? I mean any developer who can't be bothered to think about AB or IAA clearly hasn't done their homework.
I had this:

And this:

And this:

And one of these:

And none of them were as much fun as my iPad.
I would prefer AUv3....IAA is dead for me. Audiobus is still what i use to glue things together (at least i try sometimes).
Boopbeepoopeep...
(Next level with midi out)
Still kinda want one of these...
I went in reverse order, got iPad one 2010, then went looking around for what went before: got PSP homebrew, Palm with Bhajis’(and SunVox and an early iteration of pixitracker) Windows Mobile with Griff (and SunVox, and early versions of 4Pockets stuff), then looked at trackers for PC etc
Roughly 1977 or so. I had another cassette player to play my first instrument track, so I could play a live track into the Mic on this one and multi track. I felt like a genius. Then my voice started changing...
48.31 - I'd need to check with my ex band mates, but I'm sure he bought that Dr Rhythm off us. If so that lived in my house for about 6 months.
There is a pretty good app...

Supported core midi (hardware out) back in the day when i tried it. I recall a thread here where people really kicked the tires on it.
...tight MIDI
and before that ....

Ah..... my bad... i appear to have ignored this bit of the OP.. : [ "What was your first experience with the freedom of PORTABLE music making? " ]
My first pro recorder mixer minus some plastic sliders
Yamaha QY70 for me. I still think about putting together a dedicated controller for all the QY's hidden NRPN and SysEx functions.

Hah, 6 string daw! I even saw a dude thump his palm on the body for a bass drum. Crazy kids!
I have the - i and the - e versions of the app and dig em - but the hardware is so neat-o
Here’s a cool video of Four Tet noodling with the hardware version I think I posted on that thread you mentioned
The thread makes me want to bust out the PSP!

Timbalands Beaterator!
Which was a phenomenal thing, which also resulted in a tragically nerfed app version..

And the home brew!
Piggy tracker...
PSP Seq:
This is a fun thread to read! Keep em coming.
Only thing I had besides a guitar and amp and a few pedals was this hear Yam-ee Haw. Classified as a toy I'm sure. But was fun to play around with.
I never had any "recording equipment" whatsoever. It was out of my price range. I was only able to record when someone I knew bought Pro-tools and a bunch of recording equipment. Then, a few years later, I bought an ipod, and was in buss. Even better when I got an ipad! Bought an audio interface, couple mics.
Of course there were albums made with this:
For this reason alone, I can't stand staring at the SunVox interface....
If you keep going back, there's always the classic:
Or at least something very similar....
Have you seen this one

@AudioGus Yep. I just had to reprogram my 6 string DAW today. Those strings were about a year old.
Oh Jesus... thanks but no thanks. That's some nightmare fuel right there
Protracker-based, and mod compatible, has a few extra features and a couple different pattern commands, uses attached or BT keyboard entry (unlike SunVox). Exports mods that SunVox can open however.
Going back a bit, parents got me a rattle. Some of my first explorations into multiple time signatures.
I said.... BHAJIS LOOPS!!!!!
C'mon people, pay attention now
