I’d rather there be a concerted effort to get some peeps to bang out the remaining iKaossilator sound libraries.

you know how much I concur unfortunately the ikaossilator cannot crowd surf with only you and I in the room... I don't know why more people aren't vocal about that app. IOS users work in mysterious ways

For sure. I wonder if there’s a bigger Japanese fan base. They did release some weird Japan only version with basically a different skin to go along with some popular show or something. Problem is I don’t speak Japanese. And I think the original developers were some super talented dudes from over there. Honestly wish I could just thank those folks specifically (not Korg) for the amazing musical experiences and influence their creation has afforded me

friend of mine dropped a note in the comment section asking for everything we want, couldn't hurt to ask :)

  • @kobomato I’ve let my thoughts be well known to Korg many times lol. Even bothered a nice hardware division dude who was doing an AMA to pass some ideas along. He seemed like he would. Basically these people should have an entire detailed outline of my vision by now. I guess we’ll wait and see

  • I guess together we've probably written a book to them.... they just don't like money

  • where would we ask for an new controller app similar to the ikaossilator app anyway, I mean ask different devs?

  • Well tbf @jimpavloff is getting the ball rolling again on the Kaossilator front...

  • really, what's he doing?

  • @kobamoto said:

Grooverider, you may have heard about it?

  • :) yes, but how much kaossilator stuff does it cover

  • Maybe it could be time to get your unfinished songs and give them to someone who cares enough to finish them.....

    • or have you moved on to new songs?
      :#
  • Samplr app is still one of the best, unfortunately the developer has moved on to bigger things (he works for Apple now). He may of got the job partly because of his fantastic design and code in Samplr. I am sure he doesn't want to give that away and probably feels he's done enough by making the thing in the first place, which I can't fault him on if that's the case.

Great app, will always have it on an iPad.

People need to load up samples into it, it's a powerful remix tool. I load the stems from tracks I'm working on in Ableton to inject new ideas into a track.

    Anyway, bring on Nanostudio2.

So theres a chance logic for ios will be out soon, and then samplr will suddenly dissapear from the app store , and reappear in this logic ios. In white color. isamplr.

Well you get an xy pad that can play scales, although it is small. The octave range is adjustable from 1 to 4. The real great thing though is there is an erase button that you can play simultaneously with this scale touchpad. Basically iKaossilator style note replace but done manually. Couple this with fact that each voice can only have 4 notes of polyphony and you can work with voice stealing, the polyphony can be turned on and off independently for each voice, and there’s also an arpeggiator playable on the pad, and it’s really easy to just lay a bunch of stuff down and sculpt it with the erase button plus touchpad combo. There’s a simple chord mode as well with 5 different settings (unfortunately this is only available on the big pads) Also the synth and sampler engine is pretty much about as simple, yet capable as I would imagine an iKaossilator pro version. Also you have midi in AND out, etc. It’s pretty fully baked right now. Literally the only thing is the small size of the touchpad, which I’ve been begging for an option to expand it, I guess we’ll see. Also it has the patterns saved in 4 bar chunks like iKaossilator and you can quickly and easily overwrite the pattern or save it to a new slot which you will immediately be put into. So it is possible to do the whole record, save to new, punch in with erase button to change the phrase up, save to new, etc without stopping the music. My second favorite app of all time

I'd add that Grooverider comes fully loaded with factory pattern presets, more than 30 arpeggio modes, all the scales and some realtime pattern mangling so it does everything Kaossilator does and more.

Edit: the trig conditions are able to make 4 bar patterns sound like 8 bar patterns. And then you've got pattern chaining as well.

the last paragraph really made the difference, thanks db!

  • Any word on when Grooverider might get MIDI learn and allow us to use a bigger external surface to use instead of the internal small XY pad?

  • Grooverider....
Sigh-so bummed I missed the boat on this one when it was $10. I just didn’t understand what it was at the time, really. I have never used an Electribe, which is what it was being compared to then.
Oh well, next time there is a dry spell in new apps or sales I guess. :|

  • @kobamoto i haven't figured out how to use the arpeggiator on the pads. Could you explain?

  • Samplr is a classic

I wouldn't worry about that happening. When Apple bought Camel Audio it was a huge shock and the payout must have been a large one for Camel to abandon Windows users just as Alchemy 2 was readying for release on both platforms. (I think a few sound designers were still busy working on patches when they heard the bad news)

Samplr doesn't hurt ipad sales, I bought my first one for this app and several other classics. Im sure that someone at Apple noticed the outrage among iOS music makers since they put Alchemy and all the packs back online for previous customers to download after a while.
