  • Yes, welcome back. I can't figure out what it is from my phone with that link though.

    .

  • From iTunes:

    • Effects are always perfectly in time with the music and Synths are always in key - you can't go wrong

Sales pitch of the century! :-)

  • I was a millimeter away from hitting the buy button but was able to stop myself as i decided to buy nanostudio instead since so many ppl here have said great things about it. Who's gonna be the first to bite? I took the bullet for different drummer so someone else go this time haha

  • Not me...actually I haven't a clue what this is all about. Especially with new concepts like this it would really benefit the developer to have an introductory video available at launch.

  • Yeh, I cant seem to find 1 single video on youtube.

  • I've looked all over too, including their website..no vids

    It's on the AppStore: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ctrl-music/id684836720?mt=8

...it can be used in effects slot with its 20+ different effects/synths (per app description)

    • Dynamic Effects Routing System - the order in which you trigger effects is the order in which the signal flows. Glitcher through Reverb sounds very different to Reverb through Glitcher.
    • Audiobus support. Use CTRL as a Filter or an Output
    • Inter-App Audio support. Use CTRL as a Generator. Filter support coming soon

Reminds me if the way Junglator handles effects

What AB slot does it drop in?

Uk store not showing iap's yet.

  • edited November 2013

I've got it..and will be doing a video in about 10 minutes so hold on...it is good though..very very good..it drops into the FX slot in AB..also works with IAA...has some useful IAP's and a cool way to get more gear for free...the guys behind this have put a lot of work into this and I shall explain more in the vid...but this started out as an installation project..in the mean time I would seriously suggest you scroll back up this thread and find the comment Simon made..it contains a link to an interview that Palm Sounds did with one of the devs...that persuaded me to get it, and I must say I'm not disappointed.. But hang fire for the demo..this won't be for everyone..

  • Also...for IAA,how does it work..as an effect or takes yr pick?

  • edited November 2013

AB effects slot and IAA node but IAA effect coming soon.

So it's odd to figure out at first but I like the concept, although it comes off as a game. It started and you have 6 effects available and you get so many slots (upgradable via IAP) you start off with three. So you go into menu where the synths and effects are and a lot of them are locked until you achieve certain things (play 5 tracks, etc etc) but there are about 7 more effects and synths unlocked. I started to select them and got through three and it said I ran out of effect slots. So you can but more in different amounts and up to infinity? I bought a $0.99 so I have enough slots to get the rest of the unlocked items. Everything else it appears you have to unlock through achievements or something. It's a little hard to explains haha

  • I belive you can get 1 slot by giving them a "like" on FB. I hate that kinda shit.

  • Yeah,I ain't feeling it either, but its still early... My mood may brighten later.

  • I got it after listening to the interview, but I am less than impressed. The "game" aspect is a real turn-off; I have to download Britney Spear songs and use certain combos to unlock things? What crap.

  • I said it won't be for everyone...

  • Im giving this the cold shoulder pre Doug video!
My iPad is and will always be a 100% Britney Spears free enviroment!

  • edited November 2013

It has nought to do with Britney Spears, thats just a track you can use to remix..your not downloading the track...the video will be ready in a very short while...there are stack and stacks if tracks to play with...but thats the DJ bit. In AB its just an FX unit..like I said this wont be everyones cup of tea...but I liked it..and I did buy this and have nothing to with the devs...

nope, not for me either, apparently. I'm not on FB and I'm not going to download unwanted songs.
If that kind of BS is what makes this app run...an absolute no-no.
Having said that, if Doug's video can convince me otherwise, and if that crap can be avoided somehow...I can't believe a developer would burden an app with something like that...wait'n'see time.

OK just seen Doug's reply which came up while I was writing. How does it compare to Master FX then? Hope to watch the video later tonight...

  • @thesoundtestroom - I bought it before you said that. Not that that alone would have swayed me either way. And I can't watch videos, yours or anyone elses, so they aren't much help for me. This isn't the first time I've bought an app that I wasn't happy with and I doubt it is the last one either. No big deal. I just posted my initial respose to the app.

  • @MrNezumi A thousand apoligies, it was not my intention to offend you in any way...

Yeah from what I've seen and heard it seems to be difficult to pin down, probably because apparently it targets both gamers, DJs and musicians. I listened to the interview and it still isn't quite clear to me. What kind of effects are they anyway? I just hope it isn't a Glitchy and Scratchy Show ;-) !!!

  • Its a tad cheaper :-)

  • Of course look on the bright side..I don't sing in this one..

  • edited November 2013

@mmp At the moment I think Master FX way better than this...I think that master FX is the best multi FX unit we have on Audiobus no disrespect to AUFX or any of the other stuff..Master FX wont do what they do....its just a nice way to mix in various subtle changes to a mix or track...you could I suppose think of this as a toned down, and easier to use version of Turnado with sone extra options...

  • I bought the app and played with the track portion and was able to unlock all of the effects and synths except the cowbell after many hours using the non audiobus, non IAA portion of the app. I found it to be a lot of fun and the first app that really takes advantage of the iPhone 5S size and power as it uses the motion censors extensively.

You can download tracks from a list on Soundcloud and then play them while you play the app (all from within the app). You can change the sound so radically that you won't even be able to recognize the track if you choose to do so. You can choose to record your performance after you're finished playing a track.

On the downside I found using audiobus to be very glitchy, needs to have detailed instructions from the developer on how to set things up in audiobus so it's functional.

    OK thanks!

I'm still on the fence about getting more effects apps since I already have quite a few...but they are all over the place (on their own, within a DAW or amp sim and some even inside an organ or synth), so I'm leaning towards Master Fx since it has quite a few within a single convenient and well designed app...and his other apps are great as well, so I am probably going to get it sooner or later...probably right after you have done a dedicated video of it... ;-)

  • I purchased Master FX too and it's like comparing apples and oranges. This app is definitely more oriented toward performance and it's strength is not in adding effects to your tracks or in AB like Master FX. Thinking of it as a synth you use to play using a track like a synth with an external sound source is probably a more realistic idea of where the app is at this stage in it's development.

I predict a lot of people will really enjoy it and others will hate it because of the gaming aspect to unlock synths and effects or iAP and not meeting their expectations of being a filter app or synth they can control consistently and the awkward AB implementation.
