Well as far as I can read from Tim over at Discchord the big thing is this is actually a VST in a iOS Wrapper. The VST 3.6 SDK is said to support iOS so basically any VST can now be wrapped for iOS and IAA ;)

  • Can we automate parameters now its got vst ?

  • @OliverImseng That's REALLY GREAT news!!! :-) That could open up a flood of great new apps!!! Now we just need preset saving and automation to work through IAA!!!

  • That is great! I wonder how motivated the VST devs will be though.

What's the difference from say Aurias SDK/Wrapper thingy for VSTs? Or well, I guess that it's Auria only once it's ported/wrapped . Where was I going with this? I dunno....where did I out my afternoon tea hmm

on a sidenote:i don't know if it's iAA or iOS 7 related(well,it wasn't there before at least) but i noticed that (iAA) apps now recognize the last edits i made. When i reopen the (iAA)apps, everything is like the last time i had it open without manually saving the preset. When i change to another preset without saving, the former preset is in its"saved"state again. If this is the case with all iAA apps that means:TOTAL RECALL WITH ALL IAA's LOADED IN YOUR CURRENT (Cubasis)PROJECT.As long as you don't change the presets (when working in other songs)you should be able to continue with a song with IAAs just as you left it the last time. Not perfect of course but better than nothing for now.Sorry, that one was a bit harder to describe in english for me,but i think you get what i mean :)

Yep. One probably wanna make sure the synth you use will recall its last state when its opened again though. Cube is one synth that always defaults to that cello preset so wouldn't work with that one (if it had IAA that is). Is that how you meant ?

I really hope Apple can squeeze in all that functionality with recalling parameters etc before iOS 8...

  • aahw, just checked it with addictive synth, that one has an annoying opener :) And here it doesn't reclall without saving changes manually. But it definitely worked with Nanologue,AUFX and Audioverb (but here i only testet it with the volume and wet/dry fader).

  • Yea I think most synths do open to a default state, haven't really thought about it until now. Nave will work I think, it did at least use the same preset when closed and called back up again by Cubasis.

One other thing I like with Cubasis IAA implementation, might have been mentioned already, is that it doesn't load the IAA apps into RAM from what I can tell. The graphic assets and all that in a synth/effect unit I mean. The downside though is that Apple didn't think that far ahead, so all the IAAs used in Cubasis that you don't load up on the screen, will be stuck running in the background until you do a hard reset or check what background processes are running and do the open/close each IAA app manually. Please fixy thisa here Apple? :)

  • Can't you set a program change at the beginning?

  • At least cubasis doesn't support program changes (yet).Don't know about the others...

  • Genome supports program change events. Most synth apps don't. :(

"Nanologue brings the power of VST 3 technology to the iOS platform" / Steinberg

Lol...No Steinberg, it doesn't. (Anymore then all the other ported VST/AU plugs)..

Looks like it actually does. On their site:

Available from the Steinberg website is the new VST 3.6 SDK boasting iOS compatibility with Inter-App Audio support...

I'm going to put a tick in the 'pretty big deal' column. Hello, flood gates.

    .

  • Ok cool. So it's actually a new SDK and all from Steinberg. Could be interesting. :)

well,i HAVE enough good apps (besides a good (Drum)sampler with IAA),i just want an app or a way that finally brings my apps TOGETHER in the most comfortable way.No need to create more and more junk for appoholics like me ;)

  • (besides a good (Drum)sampler with IAA),i

is precisely what I hope is addressed sooner than later!

  • You can do this with Audiophile, Cubasis, and Looptical in the input slot of Audiobus also.

  • Shame it can't be done the other way around...l
