  • Great advice Frankie. I never utilise chord progressions enough. I always find myself sitting on a key for far too long and I have no idea why. I know that cool chord progressions can make a lot of difference, I just don't use them. I think my approach to writing songs always ends up being focused on coming up with melodies and arrangements etc. to the point that I forget about the backbone, the structure. I've always neglected theory so that's standard for me.

It seems so obvious when I don't have my head in a song, but at the time my head is elsewhere. Like you say - focus! Cheers!

  • Diatonic just means all the notes are within the scale.

  • I always thought it was a weight loss drink!

  • Lol. Isotonic drinks. Not for me though :)

@JangoMango - diatonic chords in C Major (Triads - three note chords)

    CEG
    DFA
    EGB
    FAC
    GBD
    ACE
    BDF
CEG 1 ........ And so on. Master this and that will be half the battle won.

  • Amazing thanks Frankie, I'll learn that ..

  • In C major it's just triads on all the white notes.
