Though, I’m really resistant to buying it though; I find the VirnSyn aesthetic really unappealing 😔
Freezing Poseidon AUv3 can be a bit tricky...
The 'Audio Unit Mixdown Compatibility Mode' or 'Real-Time Mixdown and Freeze' needs to be enabled in Cubasis 2.4.1 in order for the freeze/mixdown to work properly. I hope @virsyn will have a look at this at some point.
(I will test the other Virsyn AUv3's as well but I suspect it's the same as they most likely share quite a bit of code in this department).
update.
Only Poseidon needs to 'Compatibility Mode' for Freeze/Mixdown. The other Virsyn apps/effects work as expected.
Finally....... but AU is not working for me. The wave page is black and the preset manager is also empty.
This happened to me as well. Reinstalled, and it seems fine now. Sometimes AUs require that you open the standalone app first before using the AU...not sure if that’s the case here.
Will start using this again, I suppose. I’m somewhat obsessed with the flute sounds in this thing.
Did you launch the stand alone app first?
(This is usually needed in order for the app to migrate the preset to a shared storage container so the AUv3 can access them).
Yep, reinstalled and it’s working. I agree, it’s great for blow/flute sounds and also when you analyze imported samples it works best with these kind of (blow) sounds.
This is great news, now only Cube remains in that other folder
I’ve got both and I spend more time with Poseidon. It’s a weird little thing, but I find it fun to use.
This synth is capable of some really great sounds! Been anxiously waiting for AU. Happy day.
I reinstalled it completely just to make sure the "open as standalone first" thing wasn't in the way, then I rebooted the iPad. I have plenty of memory. First I tried to created two AUM lanes with Poseidon as the input. I switched to MF Keyboard to play some notes and nothing played. When I switched back to AUM, AUM had crashed.
Then I restarted/rebooted and started AUM and added a different AU (one of the LaPlace things). Switched to keyboard and it played fine. Switched back to AUM and it hadn't crashed. Added Poseidon as an AU to AUM lane 2 and switched back to the keyboard. Nothing played. Switched back to AUM and it had crashed.
AUM works fine until I add Poseidon to a lane, then it crashes. I just sent email to virsyn support.
I’m profoundly in love with Poseidon
but I never get this freeze shit to work.
I’m waiting and waiting and chainsmoking and waiting for the file to appear, the meter is full... but no audio file.
Instead I use to record the audio from midi to an audio track. Much faster on my iPad Pro.
So why do we need this patience testing freeze function?
Anyone else getting no wave and no sound since the update?
Mr. @tja
I have received your question and rush to help you, being worried about your confused state of mind
Well, in Auria Pro you can route, just like in Pro Tools, so it’s very easy to it in Auria.
In cubasis I have to use another technique. Let me try to unconfuse you:
First you have a midi track.

Then you route the synth to the audio track.

Thus making your chosen synth sound in your audio track. You arm the audio track & record your midi.

Just remember to route your midi track to the same synth and you should be “ding ding” ready to go.
Here’s where Auria Pro shines.

Hope that helps you @tja
Have a wild night. The beer is on me 😝
@tja
Do you have both cubasis and Auria Pro? I don’t remember your list.
I work with both apps, sometimes together. They sort of balance each other out.
🍻
Yep, completely screwed in AU and standalone.
I'm not seeing a waveform page any more.
Guess this means 1.4.1 is going to be a big improvement:
@tja. Yeah you have the right idea. Just host the AU in AUM or Audiobus and bring that back in as an audio track into Cubasis. Send the midi from Cubasis to the AU instead of the IAA like in the other example.
Fixed it: deleted the app, restarted the ipad, reinstalled.
@tja
I noticed also that it didn’t work with AU, but I thought you’d find out soon enough
The thing @CracklePot suggests is a Nobel Prize Pulitzer winner Solution. It might just work.
Reinstall seems to have fixed it, lost my user presets though.
Can you add your own wave forms and share presets yet?
Yes clean install sorted it.
To save CPU if multiple instances are needed.
Freezing Poseidon works quite well in the Cubasis 'Compatibility' mode which is a bit faster than the 'Real Time' option.
The other Virsyn apps freeze flawlessly so I suspect we'll see an update to Poseidon soonish.
