    ElasticFX

Already have most of the FX offered by this, what does having this app offer over using individual AUv3 FX of the same types ?

Because of the big ,clean ,fun to play GUI ;)

I randomly picked up ElasticFX tonight, and I must say, it is much greater than the sum of its parts... The ability to switch between bump and hold fx is rad.

I'd like to hear how people are using iDensity outside of wacky granular weirdness...

Zeeon has the best sounding oscillators I've heard on iOS so far, even if control is a bit minimal... But with the mods
you can do quite a bit, and all the forum patches - there is quite a bit of range there if you dig.

Out of curiosity, what are your most used instruments / fx you currently have? I'm currently trying to an AU sampler / looper that feels right,

My dailies would be Patterning, ElasticDrums, Zeeon... For fx I use Perforator all the time - that is usually how I use iDensity, make a sound bed and run it through perforator for stutter beats. Kosmonaut sounds great too...

  • Oh yeah, Voice Synth has been blowing my mind too... Is there a reason to grab DerVoco as well?

Here in Australia it’s a bit more expensive...all these mentioned were more like 15-17

For Australians (awkward buggers :D) use A$15 :) exchange rates are a bugger in this international realm that we reside.

Actually I’m an American expat. Anyway, only app I use more than Discord4 is Rozeta. So Discord4 is my pick. AudioDamage did something special with that effect. And Discord4 is actually $9.99 aud...

    Save it for AudioDamage Quanta.
Sure it's a 'synth' but it's a hybrid VA and Granular with a mod-matrix ticks all my boxes.

And well DawLP is pretty neat to be honest.

when is quanta coming out for ios? pretty soon isn’t it?

  • something I use leftover itunes credit for are drums and percussion packs in groovebox. That sound really great. and each pack is $1.99. I do t so much care for the app interface, but I just trigger it from step poly arp, or rosetta midi apps in Aum or apematrix and it’s perfect.

  • Discord is very good, if you don’t have it. And although £15, Steppolyarp is worth a look if you use AUM a lot as dropping in multiple AU instances is great fun, and fast.

  • Apematrix and Thumbjam, DDMF 6144 and NYC compressor.

I work differently depending on if i am jamming or producing.
When jamming (playing live keys or pads) I always head for Groovebox as a start point, so easy to get things going, the synths sound great and are clear and easy to use, the Launchkey makes it even better...a great all in one with no setup time :)...for audio loops I use blocs wave.
apeMatrix is fast becoming my playground for sequencing combined with Rozeta and various synths..Model D...Poison 202, Ripplemaker being the usual first choices. Agreed that a good AU sampler/looper would really help here.
Other instruments I mainly use Galileo (and V2 as of yesterday) and Heavy brass on occasions too
For creative FX I tend to use Wavefolder, Kosmonaut, grind, FAC Chorus and VoiceRack FX...also have quatromod for phaser flanger etc..
Utility FX, when producing I tend to use the FX within Cubasis, except when I need a compressor to do more than a little limiting, DDMF NYCompressor is getting a lot of use at the moment

Hmm Discord4, will take a look thanks :)

I have those well covered already ;), but yes a good shout for anyone with a couple $ left over :)

Have those already...not used Thumbjam for ages....did just ponder Drumjam though :)

Dischord is great, we should do a preset bank on this forum... wait, I haven't even checked if there is one!

BlocsWave - I own it, and will give it another go and see if it can get me through my upcoming festival of debauchery, on a 2000 watt soundsystem, wall of sound, Jamaican style, in the woods, with my best and weirdest friends.

Ripplemaker was my first iOS synth, in part because I sold my 0coast to by the iPad. Another patch fest I should see if is here.

I think if I had £15 then SPA Unit might be the thing I went for.....maybe even worth throwing another £5 cash at it, just not sure if the same thing will happen as did with the IAA, I used it quite aggressively for about a week, then not used it since. BUT a lot of that was to do with having to save and reload files each time, which the AU will not need.

    CAN I COME TOO ?

The only problem I have with Ripplemaker is that I spend so much time experimenting with sound, I don't usually make much music with it, but hey, it's not all about making music, sometimes evolving and tweaking a sound is entertainment enough :)

  • Shoom is AU$15 ... it’s not a new bright shiny thing (hasn’t been updated ever as far as I know) but I have a soft spot for it and it’s uniquely clever.

I noticed you mentioned using Apematrix a lot, don’t have that myself yet but some of the folks seem to use SPA with that.

I would probably use it in both....but I do have hardware ARP.s and sequencers that are a lot less fiddly to use...I really want something to record the midi from those that I can then load in apematrix/aum.

Can’t miss with Beat Time, Voice Synth, Zeeon, and Xequence. How are you liking Voice Rack @AndyPlankton ? Been on the fence about that one.

PS...drum jam is as good as ThumbJam at what it does.

Voicerack is solid for what it does...can be high on CPU....still not decided if the pitch correction is lacking or if I'm asking it to shift stuff too far....one reason why Beat Time could be a winner for me.

  • Any doubts for me.

  • CAN I COME TOO ?

    https://mutantfestival.org/

Starts in 1 week, goes 10 days, its totally free (DIY culture to the extreme, ala early days of BurningMan), and totally amazing. I've gone 18 of 22 years now. I will put anyone with the cahones to make it to this thing on our soundsystem, we are camp 'Olytopia' - probably the 3rd largest soundsystem there.

ABSOLUTELY. I gave up being a superstar music dude long ago. Theres already too much music out there anyhow, I just like to mess with sound waves and annoy my neighbor!

Sounds good, wish I was in the US and nearby.
We've got laws over here banning us from doing this sort of thing due to the mis-representation of the Rave Culture in the 90's. It's pay mega bucks for the organised ones or nothing.

I'm a bit perturbed that before all the info on what to bring and facilities is a warning about Bears, something we don't have to worry about in this country....I hope the bears don't take offence to the music, otherwise it could get a bit hectic :D

  • We get around that (the 'MAN' has definitely tried to shut us down) by the amazing loophole: There is no central organization, its just a bunch of coincidentally random arrivals of camping groups...

  • Probably the most dangerous thing out there is what you decide to do when you take some drug called C3p0x4 from the mostly naked tattooed girl you meet at the Sun Ramen camp...

What you decide to do ? or Getting caught doing what you decide to do ? :D

  • SunVox is by far the best value of any purchase I’ve made on iOS (and it’s under your budget).

    For synths only, definitely Zeeon.

Good luck, and let us know what you get!

  • A few months worth of iCloud storage?

  • Perforator!
