  • lol their icon is SO not iOS7!

Seriously though, how does this compare to Bismark?

There seems to be a law of nature that soundfont player apps are looking so ugly ;-)

  • edited November 2013

Actually the UI is good. Everything is on one page. You can open in soundfonts straight from the web. Various sound shaping tools. Has midi. Built in recorder (haven't tested yet), vocal recording. Effects with modulation grid. Very clean. I like it. Definitely load your own soundfonts, internals are just basic. As a side note I've been loading soundfonts from a site someone left on this forum. It's more than drumkits. http://www.freedrumkits.net/sound-fonts

  • just SF2's Morris or any other?

  • "Seriously though, how does this compare to Bismark?"

Don't have any of em yet, but Bismark is multi-timbral. Doesn't look like this is ?

  • @Ian So far I've only d/led sf2. @ChrisG no it's not multi-timbral. I have both, but like this one for UI.

  • edited November 2013

The UI do look really good to me also, judging by the screens. Multi-timbral might come down the road, who knows...I was set at gettng Bismark as a sondfnt player...Hmm which one to get..I'm all confused all of a sudden....1st world problems...hate'em :(

That icon tho...can't hide that...I'll go with b16 for now...I think lol

  • Curious to know which one is lighter on the cpu.And hopefully it gets IAA,otherwise BS16 is the clear winner (for me).

BS16 is great, works a treat, seems v low CPU. Most of the time the UI isn't that important as I tend to record something in Cubasis or BM2 (depending what mood I'm in) so it's just the sounds. It's quite a big size, though that may be the fonts that come with it. Does look nice though.

  • Thanks,Is it possible to delete the internal sounds of either Bs16 or this one here?

  • Another thing to like about BS16 is the velocity sensitive keyboard, it's very responsive to touch when you're playing.

  • BS 16: not the internal ones, although they only take up 29.3MB. Anything extra you add in is easily deletable

  • Went with bs16. And the first thing I noticed was actually how well the velocity sensitive keyboard worked. Second thing, pressing the play button = insta 90s and Soundblaster Awe. Anyway seems like a really solid app. Probably gonna end up checking out soundfont pro later on anyways..being an appoholic and all

  • I know @jmsexton and @paulb made some SFs available, could only find this thread for now http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/1400/soundfonts/

@paulb's Sonatina soundfonts (seriously worth having, not sure if I ever said thank you, much appreciated). www.hammersound.net is a good source too

  • Good choice @ChrisG Can't go wrong with bs-16. If I didn't have bs-16 I probably would have made the same choice.

  • Guys,

I am the developer of SoundFont Pro. Thanks a lot for your feedback on the app. In the coming days, I will be modifying the app in light of your comments/suggestions. So please have a go at it.

    Regards,

    Azfar

  • Any chance of a video or even a look at the handbook to see what we can do? (Or send Doug a copy to do it for you?!)

  • I have already sent Doug the promo code for the video.

    Regards,

    Azfar

    .

  • No promo codes for the fans?
    C'mon Jafri

  • It looks good! A little competition is good for the consumer! :-)

  • I'm getting significantly more distortion in this app compared to bs16. (iPad 3 iOS 7.04). I've tried loading the same soundfont (a Rhodes from hammersound) in both, thinking it might be the built in fonts but it still does. I'm in aeroplane mode, and it does it with nothing else running, polyphony down to 6, and no effects. I even tried deleting an reinstalling. Anyone else?

Try turning the great big level knob down..to really low that worked for me....some soundfonts are super loud...its not the app..its usually the soundfont..this won't affect the global iPad volume...video will be up later today :-)

  • Thanks Doug, will have another go later

  • That worked for me also @Doug.

  • wow, you weren't messing when you said turn it low: about 1/10 and it works fine

  • Hers the demo...

  • @Jafri There is a midi bug in Soundfont Pro. When I connect midi keyboard controller to SP and change sounds, it locks up. Works fine until I hookup controller via cck. Thanks.
