Maybe we have started the "compare all the usual Tube Screamer" apps. Is there one you do like:
DC-9
TH-U "Tube Nine" (it's included in some of the bundles too)
GE Labs "808"
...
Drambo "Noob Screamer"
On desktop The Scream from Cytomic is interesting - it lets you change the clipping components to your heart’s content. You can even change the voltage it all runs at.

There were also lots of different Rats made.

OT! OT!
I know. Apologies! I was trying to provide some background information to the topic...
(I know... I'm just an addict and you're pushing the pure shit at an AA meeting).
@Skyblazer, @wim, @McD
V0.7 Update! https://patchstorage.com/the-rat-distortion/
My RAT can now distort better.
Skyblazer was right, V0.6 was a bit too polite to be called a RAT.
Thanks again @Skyblazer for providing the audio file including a clean version that helped a lot with fine-tuning stuff.
I have a hardware rat and have drambo but havent come close to figuring out how to do anything with it. My rat is on loan to someone but I’ll see him tomorrow so I can get it, and I’ll try to load that patch in drambo to compare for you. No promises on how quickly I can do it but I’ll try.
Holy crap... this Drambo RAT FX is more pedal than I can manage. It's got that Eddie Van Halen thing where string finger squeaking sounds are making a screaming sounds and it's trivial to pop into harmonics. It can get loud.
I tried to tame the beast but it blew my ears off:
FULL DISCLOSURE: I added Adverb 2 and an IR file in ThAFKnAR as @flo26 has instructed.
But no amp sim, no other saturation FX just Drambo with Rat v7. Great job @rs2000.
You can make this a Tube Screamer pretty easily. If you get your hands on a Tube Screamer this sounds like 2 of them already. But I'm NOT a metal head so this needs to be reviewed by more guitarists with some credentials but I think this is the real deal. It shits on the GE Labs
for insane levels of distortion but still very musical... not just Grind ugliness.
DC-9 is pretty good.
@rs2000 The new version sounds amazing. My new favorite distortion on iOS. Credit for the comparison recording goes to @Tim6502 though. @mrufino1 looking forward to hearing your comparison to the real thing, whenever you get the chance.
I'm super excited about this Dramborat. I can't say for sure if it's perfectly accurate, but it's close enough to achieve a similar tone. And oddly enough, it might be unique in that regard!
Tube screamer? I'll have to try that one too.
While we’re in the subject, doors anyone know what’s special about the Fat Lady one here?
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/fat-lady-guitar-distortion/id1273275127
Nothin’ really IMO. It works pretty well for warming things up. I don’t find a lot of use for it, but that’s mainly because I have so many other apps to distract me.
Fair enough, I guess it’s just nicely written copy,
I thought it might be a new take on it that wasn’t an emulation, ta wim
@rs2000 - ftw!
I can only compare to the miRack Rodent v2, but I can definitely say I like yours better, and that’s saying a lot. Great job!!
If you really want to play with the edge of destruction run 2 copies in series in AUM
or push one into a complex amp sim like a Nembrini MRH810 or the TH-U heavy guns.
What I like about @rs2000's creation is those little high power touchs like the finger
noise or an EVH pick scrape AND the almost infinite sustain without needing any other
FX to get those coveted sounds. This is the best experience I've had with Drambo and guitar.
Or with Drambo doing anything because the sound generally seemed rather "meh" to me.
I suspect it means the modules are getting polished up or @rs2000 is really figuring out how to make them work in combinations to generate a vibrant sound. This rack is worth study
and I hope one of the Drambo teachers takes it about to explain the choices being made.
After playing with it I need a clean fix and dove back into the "Funk and R&B" amps in the TH-U product. There are so many great amps in that bundle and many can be driven into
some excellent distortions too. With the "F 'n R&B" you get the Tubescreamer too so you can get pretty Ratty without spending the extra $5 for the real CAT (Rat clone) pedal in the app.
I almost didn't get into this thread because the ProCo Rat isn't really my sound but maybe I was wrong about that because it covers a variety of distortions from mild to death metal.
Thanks a lot @Skyblazer, @wim, @McD, @Krupa, @Max23 and @mrufino1 for giving it a try.
I didn't expect to get so many positive responses, that makes building new patches even more fun!
What a great community here. 👍🏼🤗
You sure do create them quickly. I'm intrigued by the concept of creating one based upon
the circuit details of a hardware pedal. Can you share some of those concepts and the modules you selected to build your model?
This patch sounds great!
Heh, it’s great, lost a few ear hairs instantly but soon tamed it in AUM, splendid work as always 🤘
Got an answer from Nembrini. The RAT pedal is on their to do list
😎👍🏼 too bad there’s not a decent CZ-101 app. My CZ through a Rat foiled several guitar players into thinking I could play guitar. 🤣
I’ve been wondering about the cz app and if it might be a suitable subject for mozaic sysex dumping, is it no good though? (I’ve put a request for my old real cz but I’m fairly sure it’s never coming home)
I don’t think the app imports sysex. Also not AU I think. Haven’t looked at it in a while. If it did import sysex I’d be happy. I had edlib software with randomize that was very useful!
Cheers @anickt good to know 👍
This is the best CZ emulation I've used so far, bummer it's Mac or Win only:

iOS version would be sweet paired with an @And_Nembrini RAT! 😃
I just traded a Volca Bass for a Behringer TD-3 and love the distortion within the unit. Supposed to be a Boss DS1 modelled but it really brings a lot to the sound.
I'll bet this goes into some serious RAT territory:
