Odd, because the www site mentions “Per Voice distortion tone control,” “Per voice LFO,” and “At it's core, VOLT is comprised of up to 8 virtual analog synth voices each including one multi wave oscillator, SEM style filter, LFO, AMP, Distortion & 2 ADSR Envelopes.”
Per voice distortion sounds different from distortion added to the whole sound. Added to the whole sound is like a guitar through a distortion pedal, you get that added crunch when multiple notes are passed through, while applied per voice it is more like multitracked individual guitar lines (think Brian May).
LFO per voice allows them to run out of sync, giving more of a chorus effect.

Wow, an iOS tsunami! Don't see that very often. @Cracklepot, you have contributed so much to this forum you are entitled to a takedown on a rude nonparticipant IMO.
Ok. I get it now... I think all those statements are correct due to the MPE per note/voice assignments.
You can choose to assign per voice slide and per voice press to the filter, the LFO, the Poly overdrive (distortion) and the oscillator shape or PWM (not sure about the 2 ADSR envelopes though).
If you hold down and modulate (via slide and pressure) up to 8 independent notes, you’ll hear up to 8 independent voices with different levels of filter cutout, LFO frequencies, distortion etc.
So it’s basically saying that MPE is how you get up to 8 different voices doing up to 8 slightly different things.

Ahh. I think I sort of get it now. Time to finally learn more about MPE I guess. Thanks for clearing things up.
This reminds me of the 90s when a lot of people couldn’t differentiate between polyphony and multitimbrality.

Just for the record (and I really hope this doesn't create flare up or hurt anyones feelings).
VOLT was on sale in May with the update AND then again in June for $9.99. That could be a source of conflict over when it was out there on sale.
There's thread on the Forum that kept pushing the $10 sale in early June after the price went back up. I begged the VOLT folks on the Forum to drop the price so more could participate in the Preset Project. Didn't work then but when it dropped I paid up and got it.
It's an amazing sounding synth and appears to be the efforts of a solo programmer who participates here. He's coding like a madman to stabilize new and old features... trying to keep new and old users happy with the purchase.
It opened my eyes to the power of an MPE Synth and the associated on-screen interface that gives us IOS folks a shot at something close to a Roli keyboard for $10. The Roli Seaboard 5D App is free with a few sounds but it won't export the MIDI events. VOLT does!
In a few months we'll be insisting all Apps support MPE (maybe).
Anyway, we can have drama here but hopefully not turn into the EGO cesspool that a lot of Forums become.
Usually that can be avoided by one or both factions saying:
"Sorry. You misunderstood me and I took offense." or
"I misunderstood you and took offense." or
"Looks like you were right but I was operating on information that was not correct."
Another useful idea is to just PM someone with advice (which is just another form of criticism). Then the issue can be taken offline.
There are some generous and extremely helpful individuals on this Forum and CracklePot is
near the head of that list. I got a lengthy PM today from another helpful posted (@telefunky) that was lengthy and just the type of advice I needed to get at this stage of my progress with IOS production.
Again, I apologize for my public meltdown yesterday. I can see that it could appear that I was quick to blast on that guy. For the sake of context, he was actually sending me nasty PMs. I initially responded with snarky humor, but tried to explain the mixup. He kept insisting I was intentionally lying, while misquoting me the whole time.
Then I saw that he also had a go at me on the public forum, so at that point I had had it. I kind of wish I had kept cool, but part of me thinks this guy had it coming to him. Really, the whole incident could have been avoided had he taken a more respectful tone.
I am pretty much over the whole thing by now. If the original rude boy came back on and asked a question in a more polite manner, I would probably help him if I could. No grudges here.
Dude - you don't need to apologize. Look - it's obvious who the majority of contributors are here, as we post all damn day long. I'm not saying that we only treat the regulars nicely - definitely not! But you're apt to get even less leeway being snarky with those who are regulars, so be prepared for the backlash if you want to get lippy.
Of all the boards I've been on over the years this is by far the most drama-free. Occasionally a conversation gets heated, but by and large we're all cool with each other.
TLDR: Don't be a dick and you'll be treated well. Act like a dick and you'll be treated accordingly.

I just went back the Keyboard Mag forum and I guy asked for the group to compare a Youtube piano sound to a specific PianoTeq model. 1st reply nailed it down and the 2nd told him to "seriously" do his own work and not bother to ask for basic advice.
I wanted to reply tothe jerk's reply but I remembered being on the receiving end of the aggression and I thought. That's just the culture on that Forum. Go back to the AudioBus and enjoy some civility.
What was the preset project? I recently picked up Volt and am interested in finding more presets.
