Wow, that’s good news. Maybe it will stop me from buying the new Quanta. Last time I was using Tardigrain I had so many stuck notes it was unusable though. This was comming from different keyboards and on different iPads. More stuck notes than I’ve ever had on anything!! The last time I opened up I was so frustrated with the interface and trying to remember where the “secret” controls were that I stopped before finding out if the stuck notes were still there. I’m about to try it with seaboard block now.
@Dawdles I think he needs to enable a Universal File respoitory which is accessible in stand alone or AU mode and which uses the Files app for better access/entry points. And use AudioShare as a default document provider workflow for non iCloud enabled devices.

What source of MPE are you sending to it?
Nothing yet. I can’t afford the controllers. Any apps send MPE? Maybe ThumbJam, Ribbons, Animoog KB, anything?
I haven’t explored beyond trying to figure out what it is and what it all means.
Yeah, Thumbjam, Animoog if you unlocked, Model 15, GeoShred. I think AC Sabre. I’m sure there are others that’s all I have minus Animoog because I only have the iPhone version and never unlocked the MIDI out. They all behave in different ways. The update for Tardigrain mentions the Seaboard Block specifically and it’s just not doing anything other than playing MIDI notes.. Oh well. I’m just not sure if it’s something I’m missing or something they are missing.
Maybe you have to connect the controllers to the parameters by hand?
Try the ‘Aftertouch’ app. Works with Tardigrain. It’s great for pressure on a device with 3D Touch and y-axis. Not so good for pitchbend though.
I found I had to use Midiflow to get my Roli Block connected with Tardigrain for some reason.
Then in Tardigrain you have to use the ‘secret second control panel’ to assign the ‘brightness’ and ‘pressure’ icons to different parameters such as the filter or sample start etc. You have to do this for every patch. Then it works. On a per note basis as far as I can hear!

Thanks! Yeah, I’ll try using MIDIFire later and see if that helps. I do get note value. I have set up parameters in the secret control panel that work with the onscreen “keyboard” I don’t have “aftertouch” app or anything with 3D Touch. I could try AC Sabre and see if that works. My Seaboard Block is working with it for note just not pitchbend, pressure, or slide. So, that’s what I don’t get.
Try making sure ‘midi ccs’ is checked in Tardigrain’s settings. And midi is set to Omni.
This is exciting! Every time I’ve opened tardigrain I’ve felt it would be perfect with MPE.
But... I definitely agree that we really need a better option for sample import and the ability to share presets between standalone and AU. That’s what has kept me from using it often.
You know, I saved a preset in IAA Ruismaker, but it is not available in Ruismaker AU. @brambos is the freakin’ master of this AU/IAA iOS stuff. If his apps can’t even do it, maybe it can’t be done.
Then there is the issue of sample import. I cannot think of an AU app that loads audio files that has a smooth way of importing the audio, so again maybe this is an AU or iOS issue, not a Tardigrain issue.
Maybe we are expecting the impossible from this dev? I don’t know, just sharing my observations.
Yeah, that was all set up before. I’m going to have another go at it soon trying new things.
@CracklePot I’ve saved presets in Ruismaker standalone (and all of brambos other apps) and had them show up in the AU no problem so if you can’t its probably a bug!
Yes, AU presets should be accessible in the AU and the standalone version (may require restarting the app to force the ‘sync’ before they show up in another host).
Sequencer patterns are obviously only available in the standalone version because the sequencer is not included in the AU.
That is probably the problem, I am trying to load them up without restarting.
Just curious, is it particularly difficult to get the presets to sync across app versions? Seems to be a prevalent problem with many apps.
Should have known you would know how to get it done.
Wish @brambos would teach a master-class on this subject. Among a few others. I know he already writes plenty of helpful tips for AU development, but he needs to lay down the law, damnit!
