  • It downloads on my phone since I’ve read your post.

I don’t expect too much for audio damage suite since they seems to have issues with Cubasis too. What I will check is timing for bpm synced effects like FAC chorus, Perforator, Kosmonaut, and audio levels export for all other AU fxs. Will try with AU like Roli Noise too.

Sounds good! I will await your results with interest!

  • So, we are assuming that the Audio Damage suite has problems that are not the fault of GarageBand, since Cubasis experiences these problems too. Everything else is what I'm interested in.

  • Are we talking about Replicant? If the DAW doesn’t send transport info while rendering, the plugins won’t work. Happens in BM3 as well since there’s no real-time bounce

    Here are GREAT NEWS!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

Everything now is rendering properly B) B) B)

All audio damage AU fxs render as they should, even Replicant 2. All other AU fxs render well too.

All bpm synced AU fxs play and render with accurate sync and timing now.

Roli Noise with it’s nice MPE keyboard render properly too!! There was no sound after rendering before that update.

What I noticed however is still some audio difference after track fusion aka freezing: Perforator sounds louder, as Roli Noise. Lo fly dirt is the only one here which even sounds differently. But that is only when fusioning, all those ones have perfect rendering export. And it’s still possible to adjust levels after fusion.

That is HUGE!!! True game changer! :)

As an iPhone user, I’m so happy!! Don’t have anymore to always use AUM as an input with midi link sync.

Other iPhone/iPad users have to check, I will check more deeply later too.

EDIT: there was a bug with GB bass recorded in loop mode and then recorded in arrangement view while triggering bass loops. It’s now fixed, all parts first notes now play as they should (there was no sound).

There is still a bug when recording multiple times audio in loop mode, while staying in recording view. You will hear only the second recording even after 4 or 5 recordings. Not fixed yet, but pretty specific need. Workaround here is to undo/redo one time in loop mode view to hear last recording and see its waveform. That multiple passes recording feature is a very nice one, this allow to choose the better recording with undo/redo, like on desktop DAWS. Works also with midi. So I’m able to wait for that one to be fixed! :D

  • Well it also means that all other hosts have problem ....

    Excelente news thanks!

  • Can confirm it works. Now I’m off to blow this week’s budget on Noise IAP’s

  • This is GREAT news!!! Thank You for checking!!

  • Finally! I had resorted to routing my iPad into my phone via the headphone jack to record the Roli stuff.

For those interested, Apematrix works perfectly as an input for GarageBand, for example if you want to use Rozeta. ApeM has midi clock sync in, and GB sync out, with transport sync. So you can record ApeM audio directly in GB. Like with all that kind of routing on iOS, there will be some recorded latency, but if you zoom a part at max, snap to grid is disabled and you can move the audio part to adjust position accurately. Works exactly like Blocswave slip feature. Midi link sync is only need now for IAA apps using Link, like Blocswave, Figure, etc. Works greatly too.

My audio damage plugins seem to have issues in Auria Pro - mono signal only

Ravenscroft 275 is now 100% crackle free in GarageBand even not in AU full screen, when playing fast chords with external midi controller! Nice update!!!! Hope iOS 12 will have same quality :)

  • Fusioning audio levels difference is because of applied normalization in the process, just have seen that on long RS275 freeze, never seen the message before :D so it seems to be normal, just need to adjust track level after freezing.

So how are you getting around the issue?

  • No automation yet presumably? Until they add that GarageBand is completely useless to me. Otherwise it’s an awesome app as far as I can tell.

  • edited July 2018

There are still editable track level and non editable internal instruments automations. No difference.

I use ApeM or AUM as GB IAA inputs when I want to record real-time automations with audio.

Still the best DAW on iPhone IMO, but despite new bug free rendering and powerful loop mode, there are still better DAW options on iPad.

  • Wait, god this is embarrassing, but can you automate anything other than volume? I think I must not be looking hard enough....

All internal instruments knobs have automation. Just move them while recording. Even Alchemy uses gyro sensors for parameters automation. Same thing with 3D Touch on iPhone. They’re not however editable with curve and points like track level automation. You can record notes and knobs all in one pass, or you can record notes on first pass, and knobs automation on a second one using track overdub setting. Internal effects, AU and AUX don’t have automation.

  • Fantastic, Garageband is great on iPhone

I export all my tracks as audio and do the replicant effects in a separate app like Cubasis sadly

It seems to me that I could use the full automation capabilities of Xequence, along with AUM or Audiobus or ApeMatrix, and get it done that way.

  • @Janosax - just tried it, works great! Would be sweet if it was an automation track but I know I’m asking too much really... I think I need to modify my record settings though because after laying down a sequence and then trying to only record knob turning it clears out all my note data. Prolly something dumb or some setting I have wrong. Will have a play with it but thanks, this is great :)

You have to enable recording fusion (overdub), on track settings:

Also, I discovered than you can can copy audio and midi parts from song to song, it will also copy track instrument/fxs. Just do copy/paste, and be careful with transport locator position. Very useful after freezing but in other situations too, for merging songs, or taking a good track in an older song.

  • @Janosax Got it, just tested, works a treat. Was concerned I wouldn’t be able to undo without destroying everything but you can undo “cycle recordings” - brilliant!

It’s not a bad app, it gets a bad rap around some other places but as far as I’m concerned it’s come a long way
