Boom
What do you think of it? No hurry, I realize you just got it, and it looks kind of deep.
(You did get it, right? Boom?)
Bought on pre order, I’ll have alook at the built in tutorials and have a play today
Did someone port Excel to the iPad?
What is this thing?
Cue stuff looks interesting for playing combinations of effects live ... if I read it right.
Fairly sure I don’t need it but it’s going to be tricky to resist given I have just loaded up the iTunes account. I guess getting Dougged is the next stage in the process.
Lol 🤣
I probably want this
hihi
This app is incredible. I’m surprised there is not so much love here...
I likely would’ve gone for this, but I figured the pre-sale price would carry over to launch price too. Just couldn’t bring myself to commit to an app that hadn’t even launched yet.
So, since there’s no launch sale incentive, I’ll likely wait and see if it’s really something I might use.
Looking forward to hearing what early adopters do with it first.
Apparently it is still an intro price (50%). Well I agree that we need some concrete demonstrations with this tool. What I can say so far is that it is not as difficult to understand as it seems at first (once you understand the matrix - same principle as ApeMatrix) it is the very easy to use. The sound is awesome!! And the pitcher is unique. No other ios app can do that so far. It is very focus on live usage but you can of course use it in any DAW as a standard multi-effect tool. Only complaint is...no AU...
It’s showing $10. It was $5 just during pre-order I guess.

No matter though. At $10 I’ll pass until I know it’s an app I’ll use. I would’ve punted the $5, but I assumed it’d be that price at launch too. Guess I should’ve asked.
The discchord post was clear it would go up at launch, but it seems the thread here, or maybe it was a different post I saw that was kinda vague.
No biggy. Saving my shekels for Quanta anyway.
Still interested in seeing how this one evolves.
Nice to see some discussions about iLep here already
But let me clarify some things here. I am not the original designer of the app. iLep was designed by avant-garde composer Thomas Kessler and programmer Thomas Seelig. Unfortunately the programmer got into serious health issues, that made it impossible for him to continue to work on the app. That's why I was asked to join the team and to complete iLep.
To be honest - in the beginning I wasn't that convinced by the general concept of the app and the "Excel" look either. But after playing with the app for a while now I understand the basic idea much better. It's not as intuitive as other effect apps (like my own Elastic FX app for example), you need some time to get into it and to understand core concepts (audio routing, etc.). But then the app can reward you with some unique sounds and fun, especially when you use it together with a midi foot-controller (or any other controller) and change several parameters at the same time with just one move.
To make the start more easy Thomas Kessler wrote a great tutorial for the app I can only recommend to look into.

Here‘s an ambient live jam with ThumbJam sent through iLep and a Looper patch I built in AUM (using Kosmonaut):
Epic sounds there above!
Thank you 🙏😊
Indeed, quite cinematic. How do you like iLep? Seems like a cool concept but I'm not sure what I'd use it for.
Ok, I had to get it. That matrix and odd x2 style of effects just mad me wonder. So far, I am making insane sounds by basically using the matrix like a monkey haha. But then editing is so deep it was just overwhelming for the test drive.
It looked like so many parameters for each effect I was boggled. The pitch tracker was amazing so far and triggering midi or those samples was really amazing. It is So deep I'm afraid so any tips are welcome. And yea I got manual!
Sounds amazing to my ears and I don't mind the look one bit. Still, haven't seen anything about actually programming the thing though. Just a few videos showing the power of ganging multiple params to a pair of controllers.
Can you map other things via MIDI directly? I see their is a sequencer. Maybe a demo of that? Are there other modulation sources? Is it otherwise easy to manipulate in real time?
Aah, if it was AU I wouldn’t be able to resist. For now I will put it in the watch list. Would love to hear more thoughts from those who pick it up.
well done sir, well done
So does this app sit in the effects channel? great sounding delay, what other effects does it have. i’m really i treated in this one
This is beautiful.
Thanks a lot, everyone 😊
@eross, the delay is actually DubStation 2 (I also used Kosmonauts „Sound on Sound“ section for the looping. iLep has a PitchShifter, a Reverb, a Ringmodulator, a Pitchtracker and a Delay. All of them can be combined with the Matrix. And yes, it sits in the IAA effect slot.
@syropcore, every parameter can be controlled by MIDI but, as far as I can see, there is only one „modulation“ slider, so you can only controll them only all at once. It was obviously made for one foot pedal.
In my opinion the advantages of this are a great sound and the possibilities of the matrix (I like that in ApeMatrix, too). The downsides are that there is only one modulation slider (I could imagine using more than one knob...) and also that it receives MIDI on all channels at the moment (which makes it impossible to use a MIDI controller to play an instrument, as notes switch between effect „cues“.
Hey, so I feel silly again here but I'm tripping on the matrix. I can get stuff going but the routing is not clicking in my head. I thought I knew how matrix worked, can anyone help. Basically the routing and in and outs. I mean I am adding inputs for each fx I think but then the order is well i don't know. The manual is decent but not in depth. Thanks so much I know it click soon!
I want to see iLep, Dhalang, Different Drummer and Field/SoundScaper cage fight it out for the "Most Obtuse iPad Apps" grand prize.
Hi @oceansinspace I also had my problems with the matrix at the beginning, but I got it after a while. So if you keep on working with iLep, it will come
The basic routing is: Input goes from Top to the right to output a signal.
Go to Patch screen ...
a) First of all you need a sound source. If you want to use the iPad microphone, a testsignal (green sine button) or an external soundcard or if you want to use the app in IAA/Audiobus, routing starts in the first 2 rows. Select cue 1: pass in to out. This exactly does the job. It routes the input directly to the output. With no external headphones connected you probably get a feedback, because the iPads speakers feed the input. To Change this open the test signals overlay by clicking the green sine button. Then disable the mic and enable sine.
b) Then you want to use some of the effects: Select column 1 to row 5: This will route the input signal (still our sine test tone) to the pitch shifter 1. Then select column 9 to row 10 and 11. This will route the output of pitchshifter 1 to the apps output. Tap the yellow pshift button on the right. This opens the pitchshifter overlay. Play with semitones, etc. You now should hear the original sine tone and a pitched sine tone.
If you want the pitched signal to get reverbed, then disconnect pitchshift1 from out 1/2 and connect it with rvb: Column 9, last row. Then route reverb to the output. Tap on Column 14/15 and row 10/11. Open pitch shifter and play with the semitones. Now you should hear some pitched and reverbed signals.
I hope that helps a already. But a video might also follow.
Happy patching
Thanks, I feel better now too! But yea its a a fun one I thought I was perhaps overdosing on inputs and had now idea the signal flow was flowing. Cheers you rock,
@oceansinspace I created a demo tutorial how to create a patch, I hope this helps
Thanks for this!
