But, can it even import an midi file yet?
Haven’t try Garageband for ages...
I'm like @Daveypoo where I use both Auria Pro & Cubasis, flying the tracks between which ever app the song & stage of creation is called for. I know some may feel that's too much work, they just want one environment, and I understand.
I think maybe it's from coming up & learning recording basics in the early '90's where analog/DAT bounces, cleaning & demagnetizing tape machines, striping a track with SMPTE or other code to sync with MIDI, etc. that makes moving some files between apps seem like no problem whatsoever.
They say opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one. It's human nature however to think that someone's contrary opinion, perhaps like their asshole, stinks. I feel it's a bit fanboy to go that far, I mean if you love the Cubasis layout & operation, great- but there's no need to bury Auria's, or vice versa.
In the desktop DAW analogy:
Auria Pro is ProTools with pros: exceedingly good at handling audio and an excellent mixing platform, and cons: very complex and difficult to master.
Cubasis is (fittingly) Cubase (with a bit of Logic thrown in) with pros: excels at handling MIDI, easy use of onboard virtual instruments and relatively easy to pick up quickly, and cons: no subgroups/bussing or warp markers/elastic audio, perhaps not complex enough.
And BeatMaker 3 is it's own animal entirely...
Not sure if Apple would ever introduce Logic on iOS as they seem to be targeting everyone including laymen to use GB and making it simpler and fun to use (analogous to iMovie vs Final Cut Pro). For instance, they call the effect Echo instead of Delay to keep it simple with fewer parameters exposed initially until we add it as a separate plugin. Limited Automation for only volume. The new "Optimizing for performance" message is frustrating every time we open a project - this could have been an on-demand option. There is no Master out track exposed in GB yet. Now, the desktop and mobile versions are so different with the addition of new Live Loops, Beat Sequencer, etc. modules they are not even compatible if these modules are used in the project.
As in so many other things, I strive to become more like my cats.
Far from stinking, there are few things in life more interesting than smelling other cats’ assholes hearing other people’s opinions.
LOL!
@richardyot - guess I never explored Auria well enough. I always had a bit of a time getting around it it. Plus not really knowing what I'm doing doesn't help either! :-) Now (for better or worse) that I have both, I can learn from one and pass it on to the other...
LOL
Now I'm connecting facetious & faeces for some reason...
