2799 euros in Europe. For this price, I can buy a decent laptop for work, a good gaming desktop and a big TV to play my games on. As I move to Japan in feb, I think I will do just that instead.

True....but sadly i´m bound to Logic Pro X now.
However, they were always expensive and mostly it´s the SSD upgrades which people raving about (as if there would be no choice to not buy the 4TB option).
The problem is the new macbooks are really bad and the best example of form over function in any way.
They are mainly consumer ans lifestyle products like iPhones and iPads.
IPads and iPhones are not cheap either (maybe even worse for what you get).
At the end it´s the customers choice if they can go on with this.
As long as they still update Logic i will stay with mac. Not sure how long that will be.

iPad's not cheap? Look at that 2018 model and look at all the apps you can buy for a little amount of money for it. Then it becomes a cheap way of using a computer.

Sure, but i also could buy a windows 10 laptop for the same and use only free tools and this would be indeed a real computer then. IOS can´t replace macOS yet, even if iPads would be more powerful as macbooks on paper (which could happen this year maybe).
But i mean the top speced iPads which even could need more RAM and CPU.....at least for my workflow :)

  • I've not seen any tests with audio yet, would like to see how the new 15" mbp base and bto option stack against each other in a daw stress test. Few more videos coming out that don't show as much as a problem as the first batch of vids, i9 mostly outperforming the i7 2018 15".

Unnecessary review , he is focusing on how the i9 is faster than i7 .... the problem is with the poor , inefficient cooling design for a high end laptop .

I think I'm going to hold my judgement on this until the daw and plugin stress tests come out, I jumped the gun a little in one of my previous posts. But I agree, for video people the cooling system and thinness of design, hampers performance when pushing things to the limit. I'd love to see a thicker mbp, with replaceable ram, hd and better cooling.

  • Sorry, I’ll just have to find a way on iPad Pro. With all I’ll save on software vst’s bs apps , it’s just basic economics .

  • My plan is to not ever buy a new Mac again...
I believe that iPad and iOS is the future of all of my need concerning software...

$4500 for a new 15” Macbook Pro with decent specification is too much!

I wait for the new 2018 iPad Pro, although I had to put $1500 in Apples pocket (as every year when upgrading my iPads)...

You could buy a Windows 10 laptop but where are the apps like you find on this forum then? Yes, you can lots of software for free for Windows. When that's your goal, go for it, be it Windows be it Linux.

What kind of 27 inch 5K iMac can you buy for $4500?
