  • Woah. This reminds me of a more advanced cooler version of a physics based sequencer on the OP-1.

  • If I have to choose between 3 sequencers, Physicles will be there for sure! 👏🏼

Besides the tombola sequencer on Op-1, Physicles is the only physics based sequencer I know of in all of music production! ( and you don't have to buy a $2k device to use it ;) )

Have you ever considered adding the ability to edit the number of sides in the shape for Bouncy?

I think I tried it at first, but it only worked properly for three (triangle) and four (square) sides. That's why you can only select those in the left panel.

There is a cheap analog alternative, and a digital one.

Giving that Physicles is based on Electroplankton for Nintendo DS...

Using an iPad, you can connect the audio output of your DS to your iPad via a Mic Adapter.

And then use A2M real-time Audio to MIDI to convert the audio signal to MIDI notes :)

An interesting setup if you like to play with gadgets, and come one, everyone has a Nintendo DS in some lost drawer.

But you also have the more simple, entire digital alternative. Use a Nintendo DS emulator on your Mac or PC, route the audio of Electroplankton to your DAW using something like Blackhole, and use the free Dodo Midi 2 to convert the audio to MIDI notes.

You will have one of the most fascinating organic sequencers.

  • For an IOS "Audio to MIDI" solution use the free ($10 IAP for unlimited time feature) "A2M real-time Audio to MIDI". The App Store page does not disclose the time limit.

I have read many times that Thumbjam also converts Audio to MIDI but I've never tried it.

I did buy the Guitar MIDI 2 app with all the extras and it's wonderful for guitar but I'm sure many might throw some complex audio at it and complain. A2M also probably breaks down under heavy audio complexity.

  • @Pynchon I hadn't heard of Electroplankton, very cool!

As I was exploring other physics based midi sequencers, I saw this free Max4Live device that perfectly re-creates the Tombola Sequencer from the Op-1 in Ableton! Pretty cool if anyone wants to try it out! I don't have suite, so I tested it in the free 90 day trial of Ableton.
