Do you know if Fac Envolver could in some way "replace" a breath controller ? For example, if I blow closely in the mic of my Apple headphone set, can the wind noise enveloppe be used to trigger CC11

I’ve done this with SWAM and headphones, except I yelled instead of blowing on the mic . It works fine if you tune the threshold etc in Envolver.

  • You rock!! Thanks for the free improvements!!

  • Thank you @McD and @JudasZimmerman !
I don’t own the app yet, reason why I asked, but I think I will buy it and try.
    🙏

  • Cubasis 2 and 3 have still not been updated to correct the MIDI problems with Envolver and Perforator. Any time frame, @LFS, @brambos, @FredAntonCorvest?

Just for the record: these apps work fine in AUM. This is a Cubasis issue with placing an app as an audio consumer (FX) but also expecting it to generate MIDI content. Many MIDI FX are generator apps that do not need or expect audio in but probably leverage MIDI in... like Mozaic for example.

Do not be afraid to use Envolver if you use AUM or I'd imagine AudioBus or ApeMatrix.
But ask before buying if you need to know.

  • Awesome! Will purchase at the new price upon release! The main reason I’ve shyed away from this app was just cuz it needed an external source and that kinda freaked me out lol idk why, but with the update i Think I’ll be ok 😂

Note that Cubasis and Perforator are correctly following the official specs. This is a bug in iOS and Apple should be the ones to fix this.

Good to know. Would this probably be a good moment to let Apple feel how many iOS musicians are out there? Writing bug reports to Apple?

Yeah this is a bug in iOS which affects hosts. It pops up with plugins that output MIDI and can only be by the host (or by Apple, of course).

I’m already helping our friends at Steinberg to fix this.

So now Steinberg can’t correct this after all?

Plugins can't fix it, hosts can implement a workaround. I merely wanted to point out that technically it's not a bug or problem on Steinberg's end.

Cubasis hasn't implemented anything wrong here. Apple have, but they rarely take responsibility for these kinds of issues and let the music app developers take all the flak.

I have already filed a report for it. Not sure if any action is being taken.

Thanks Bram, hopefully you carry more weight as a developer. If Perforator weren't such a great app I wouldn't be as concerned  And thanks for your other excellent apps as well!

    Hi @musikeer,

Our next maintenance update is planned to be released sometime soon.
However, Bram mentions Apple here I suppose...

    Best,
    Lars
