Probably going to sell my OP-1, so you could save a whole load of time and just buy the real thing!

Cor, I've always thought I would love an OP-1 and hover round the TE website on a regular basis but some unidentified force has stopped me clicking the buy button up until now. What is it about the OP-1 that falls short for you?

Probably the opposite to Dawdles, in that I’ve hardly used it. Pretty much mint this one.

No reflection on the OP-1, I like what it does, the way it works/sounds, but I could put the money to better use - monitors for example, which would fit in with my iPad/desktop workflow. I’ve also been offered a Maschine mk3 controller for a decent price, which again is more useful.

It’s a lovely thing, but a bit superfluous to my current setup.

Shame you’re not nearer, you could borrow it for a bit, see what you think.

Yeah double shame is that I probably drove past your manor this morning on the way back from my mum's place.

If you’re passing again let me know, and if you want pop in for a cuppa and a go on the OP-1.

Very kind offer @MonzoPro but that may be the last time I make that journey.

I do still have an uncle over Carmarthen way, though, so who knows eh?

  • @audiblevideo it’s hard to tell, where is the project at?

  • @MonzoPro you've got me looking at the Maschine Mk3 as well now.. Does seem pretty sweet.

Back to the topic though, has anyone tried the software for this OTTO thing yet?

If you’ve got Komplete it’s ideal, and don’t be put off by the beat-making thing - it’s good for soundscapey stuff too. For example last night I loaded an Absynth patch, and was able to manipulate the parameters using the row of knobs at the top, dial in some fx and again control the parameters of those for live twiddling. In the background I had a simple beat and bassline looping, which I added variations to using the new lock feature. It sounded like a hyped version of the iPad jamming I do, so this will up the quality of my musical dabbling.

Without the controller all of this is slow, and a bit of a chore. The controller makes it into a proper performance tool, rather than a static DAW.

Haven’t been able to get it to do much in Reason, which is a shame, but still worth it for the NI integration, and now thinking about live/band jamming.
