  • Inspired by this amazing video with @jakoB_haQ i fired it up yesterday night... boy what a mistake... I got lost and ended up singing recording this daisy song HAL 9000 sings at the end of the movie and played it back real slow. So I finally found an end and a reason to go to sleep 😂

App of the year...? A strong contender

Here's a taster for you guys showing full 128 chromatic notes manipulation. The interface switches to this when midi input is activated. Clearly, the notes are so small that you can't really do accurate note manipulation via the touch screen (hence the reset button); however, you can see that there's a lot of fun to be had drawing on the notes haphazardly! sonic madness!!!

This is...it's...nope, I'm lost for words...

Cool looking forward to the update, different colour options will be much appreciated too.

The blue and orange is Argon Ion and HeNe laser colours - 488 and 532nm.

Yes 532 and 488nm is particularly in fashion again this season :)

  • I experimented with a white background theme which looks weird to me but some folk might dig it. I will assess the wavelengths proposed. ;)

  • I really like custom UI colours in apps. Probably harder to implement though I imagine, from a developer point of view. :)

  • @Carnbot with the way I've done things it's really easy. I just wanted to have a consistent, recognisable colour scheme until SC got more established. I'll do the colour options once state saving is implemented otherwise it would always revert back

  • edited August 2018

If state saving is possible in the end maybe a sample pack IAP from Developer would do well?

@RUST( i )K ! That really is uber kind of you to say that, with a massive umlaut! ;) I really do appreciate the sentiment. Thank you to everybody on this thread and on this forum for your support! This forum has always been ground zero for me since the release of this thing.

It's been a while since I've released an update but believe me I've been busy working on big improvements:
    1. state saving/presets (this is taking way longer than I expected, sorry!)
    2. midi (this is way more awesome than I expected! really excited about this)
    3. a special optional live sampling mode (see the 'J.A. Deane' page on my website)

These are still in internal beta and I'm waiting for the appropriate time to put into external beta testing. I have a lot of work still to do on this thing! Once the above are released I plan to celebrate with some additional options for choosing different colour schemes :)

Sentiments like these really give me the boost I need to keep working on this in my spare time. Thank you all for bearing with me as I've been adding AU features and fixing bugs etc.

    You are the real deal.

A true intellectual giant and creative genius.

    Very rare indeed.

The app is a game changer, challenging conventional wisdom on so many fronts.

Thanks for keeping users in the loop of all the improvements and hard work you do.

I guess one like myself starts to ponder at one point.....

What will he do next as far as apps!!

What type of artists or style music do you enjoy?

Are you a musician trained proper?

He could do "Satellite" the AUv3 looper.
LaunchPad and Kosmonaut are taken, though.

Great comment! Cassini also taken! They all make a great combo I’m sure.

  • It's not the kind of synth I love, but thanks for this pearl! You're a Beautiful Mind, surely! 😉👍

@RockySmalls the extra octaves really open up the sound , you can have some really interesting textures if you just draw notes randomly . You can also draw a path and have it follow. It's way more fun than I imagined, so really excited about that one :)

Any chance of having the full range of octaves - but just restrict to a minor C scale? That would be how i'd use it I think.

@RUST( i )K oh stop it, your embarrassing me now :D

I'm not one to show off, but since you asked: i love all genres and forms of music (esp. weird stuff, DnB), self taught mulit-instrumentalist (esp. tech, bass, guitar).

Regarding next apps, I have some ideas bubbling but I'm not one for hype so that's all I'll say :) an awesome thing about development is that once you make your first app I imagine it will be much much quicker to make other apps if you can reuse your classes for DSP, interface etc.

Thanks again for your support :)

    Hi Mark,
don‘t get yourself into a pressure situation ;)

I love Spacecraft too, each time I fiddle around with it I end up with a nice soundscape recording that I can use in different tracks.

  • Yes 532 and 488nm is particularly in fashion again this season :)

    488nm is always in fashion.

  • I'm taking wavelength requests

  • Yeah I see what the fuss is about. It feels like you’re in the pilots seat of a spacecraft, charting courses to new sonic territories. Also it’s all xy pads mostly (something I’ve been advocating for for a long time) so it’s very easy and FUN to use. I get it,I love it

Aside from what other folks have mentioned, is there any chance of a note gate/Adsr/being able to trigger the thing like any other keyboard sound?

OMG, just started playing with the beta and this drawing a path on the extended grid is one of the weirdest (in the best possible way) and fun things I've ever seen in an iOS musicking app. Thank you @deltaVaudio for not taking the well-traveled path. This is a truly unique tool.

  • @lukesleepwalker Yes!!! I love this new feature so much! Opens up some really interesting sound design possibilities.

And Trev, you finally got your chromatic scale option @[Deleted User] :D

yes, I second this request.. at the moment its all linear and constant with the only method of playing discreet sounds putting it into multi note mode and pressing scale notes then immediately off again ( which can create some nice effects btw ) but a selection in the waveform window menu box ( if you catch my drift ) to have it only sound when touching the waveform, possibly with some rudimentary release setting OR simple Adsr would make the beast more playable and give the option to be less restricted to “soundscapey” stuff..
personally i would prefer the waveform touch method but others might prefer it to happen via the scale notes perhaps?
    thanks for yr attention @deltaVaudio

  • Life is short. Make time to stop and smell the minutiae.

  • @db909 and @RockySmalls this is related to what I'm working on right now and is currently in beta. Notes played on midi keyboard (either hardware or the on screen one in a host) are not latched. There will eventually be an option to turn on/off latching both for midi and touch interface, at which point your request will be satisfied . I've also been looking into implementing some basic attack and release envelope on volume for the notes played; this is a bit tricky in SC but I think it's feasible.

then Sir, you are way ahead of us... my fingers await these delights..

the minutiae are pretty little flowers... and so prevalent this time of year. :)

  • 5 stars from me.

The new features are going to take this already stellar app light years beyond.

    Oh, stop your groaning.

  • Watching these gems evolve by independent devs is what I really like about this scene.

Reminds me of the old shareware stuff back in the day, but more social.

Hat tip to the AB forum for facilitating it too. B)
