  • What is insane or a game changer?

  • Have you seen the video? It pretty much explains it.. Just the chord track alone.. What does that?

Jocphone is right, we need more info. I tried the link, tried the FullscaleAV facebook page... couldn't get it to actually load. We need a reason to go find this so-called "game changer" ... or a youtube link? anybody still use that?

  • Bit like Bitwig meets FL Studio. I just wish the GUI look had more polish. But for $99 at JJR SHOP it’s looks a winner, the Captain Chord style functions built it would be my fav game changer of the app. Wish iOS DAW apps had something like this.

  • @Hmtx : Sorry.. my bad..here it is...

It does everything right that's supposed to be wrong in 'music' ;)
But it's likely the most smart boredom creation tool ever implemented o:)
Analyses the taste of the public to make suggestions that assure you're a copycat and always too late. Creativity in music is negligible.
Everything is perfectly timed up to the millisecond - but you may mess it up later.
Menu selection galore - and if you're done with those (say) 8 menu/popup selections on track 1 you may repeat exactly those steps manually for the next few tracks (as suggested).
If they had included an automated 'apply on next track', then it would at least qualify as a smart workflow tool. But to each his or her own.

Nope, still can't watch videos at work.

Hasn't Cubase had a chord track for several years?

  • @Jumpercollins : Even more amazing to me is the ultimate $249 pack w that new amazing new synth.. They just made the T7 version free... I’d love to use this w Patterning 2, etc...What’s really getting my attention is how much this has grown in the space of a year.. I can only imagine what Waveform 10 would look like ..’ Bitwig meets FL” is a great way to put it..

  • @Jocphone : Stidio One 4’s Chordbot track actually works w audio which trounces the Cubase chord track..The T9 chord track also seems to be next level.. Watch the vid when you get a chance... This DAW would work very nicely w ios

Tracktion, overall, is the easiest to use PC DAW for me to focus on making music, with the least effort. It's generally easy to copy and paste things. Not sure where the "(say) 8 menu/pop up selections" is that you're referring to. That said, I haven't tried a chord track, though I have used the chord tool.

Also, it'd be helpful if you were specific about what the word "it" refers to when you use it, as it isn't clear what you mean by it.

I'm using Gadget more often these days than Waveform, when all is said and done. But sometimes that's feeling more confining than I want, so, we'll see, longer-term.

  • @vitocorleone123 “It” meaning the video..

Yeah I will watch it later. Thanks for posting. Have downloaded the trial but had no time to play with it yet.

  • ooh, nice. looks really good!

  • I still think if you can afford it and have a decent machine to run it on Presonus Studio One 4 is the best of show in this music business for a linear DAW.

in fact I meant the DAW (not too hard to guess in a thread labeled 'Traction 9'), but of course based on that video.
I never missed the features presented and rather need chord progressions on what I play.
(of which I usually have no idea regarding the formal music scheme) o:)

Not all users have the same workflow and what's a killer feature for one may be annoyance for the next.
Like that 'most listeners favourite progression' feature, which will certainly be appreciated for some jobs with a deadline lurking. But as well might drag you off your own ideas/style.
I don't like stretching algorithms - they spoil the tone (usually at least to the degree a lower quality mic or preamp would have caused).
Many folks don't care or even notice and are happy with the saved time.

Tracktion 7 is now downloadable for FREE on their website

  • @Jumpercollins : Ueah, that’s hard to dispute . Except that this is half the price and it has some chord track features that are quite different than Studio One 4.. (You Tube “MG the future - Waveform 9”... He really explains the new features well in those 3 videos )
Studio One is a mutha though

On ios, Meteor has a basic chord track with a few editable parameters.

Wow buddy, that’s pretty clear on where you stand. I’m with you, whether it’s Bird or Zepp, it’s all the slight sloppiness that makes great performances.
But I would ask that aren’t a huge percentage of iOS apps based on the “do it for you” model?

But back to the point, I see a ton of features that are really cool - the faceplate/macro interface for automation, file management, sample slicing with midi creation, inclusion of meat and potatoes plugins. All for the (Apple takeover) cost of Logic - and third of the cost of Ableton or S1.

I ain’t pulled the trigger on the upgrade yet, but that harmonic editing feature looks incredible!

  • Waveform 9 currently half price in JRR shop.

    https://www.jrrshop.com/tracktion-waveform

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Install Tracktion 7 it is free, the upgrade to 9 is then $25 on the Tracktion website, just use the coupon code Labor18.

Make sure you check out the KVR forum first though, specifically the host forum, not the company forum where they can delete posts, there is another current thread discussing how unstable Waveform is, it is the least reliable host i personally have ever used, it crashes every few minutes here on MacOS and Windows and Linux.

It is a shame because other than missing some very obvious basics, if it didn't crash all the time it would be a really nice host for composing.

  • @Turntablist , after using Logic x and Ableton for years I decided to give Tracktion 7 a go, after all its free, I then decided to take advantage of the update for 25$ to Version 9, to me its worth it, included in Version 9 is Melodyne 4 essential a 99$ value.
To date I haven't had any crashes and for the price you pay for this DAW its packed with features.
    Well worth the money .

  • The “Whole shebang “ version is just $129 w all the recording plug ins and loop packs. Jeez... Good manual and video support too.

  • Melodyne 4 essential is given away with any host that supports ARA by the developers, they catch you with the full version upgrade pricing, which is definitely worth it for the synthesis features.

Anybody who stress tests Waveform gets crashes, if it is not crashing for you in your use case, that is excellent.
I am only trying to make sure people are informed of the facts (which are backed up by a lot of forum posts too)

  • It would be expensive for me because I’d actually have to buy a PC, lol.. Plus I’d have to actually learn windows and all the keyboard shortcuts, etc.. I’m all iPad now.. It’s tempting though.. I am getting weary of iOS as a sole means of musical support.. At the same time though w Audio Evolution going universal , I could buy that new iPhone ten plus w the 6.5 inch screen and just do more on the phone..What an app though..

  • @Turntablist : I just looked.. Aren’t those complaints from 2017? Look up “Admiral Bumblebee.com”, a longtime Waveform user and reviewer.. He’s been critical of certain aspects of it, you’d think that he would have mentioned it.. Also I see that the Tracktion developers are constantly on the forum to help
