I coded that this morning - you can now start the pad playing from any recorded beat by just turning a rotary.
I intend to add a rotary for the end beat (or maybe just beat length) next.
This works with loops so you only play the section between start & end.
Automation will of course add nice variations for you on this.
The one shot = loop count 0 as the looping check is applied at the end of play (so is extra plays).
Awesome, sounds very cool and useful.
I'm fkn excited about this. Will this be a update or new app ??
A fkn new app.
😂 dope I didn't get a chance to read all this just the highlights
just working on the sync options for the pads - its the last bit todo before I release it to the beta testers
Do you have your beta test pool lined up already or do you need volunteers?
And the members of the AB forum go...

Seems so... looking at the
I have enough for the moment.
Geez its just an app children! Made me smile though !
So as not to be accused of spreading f*ke n*ws ... It's actually kids at a school in Atlanta reacting to the news that they were all going on a field trip to see Black Panther. There's a longer version out there. So much good.
😏 beta you say ?
Yep I've let to loose on them yet
Time to share an update - still need to improve the UI (centre section) but here is what it looks like with the pad functions.
To recap - top section is recording midi to an internal buffer. You can save/load to this.
middle section are your pads - just 4 at the moment. You can name them yourself.
lower section are the controls you can apply to the selected pad which are:
Transpose +/-24 semitones - you can do this during play - it adjusts playing notes too
Tempo Division : 8/1 to 1/16 - to speed up or slow down midi file tempo)
Loops (1..16 or infinite)
Start beat - so playback (and loop start) occurs at that beat - so 0 would be from real start of midi.
Duration (in beats) so you can enter inf (value 0) or dial up to remaining beats in midi file
Sync Start : at the moment this is immediate, Next Bar or Next Beat - so playback aligns to host transport (if playing). I'm going to add Link too - but I imagine AUM say as a host will align host bar = link quantum & host beat = link beat.
looking good! really excited about this one.
Looking good!
Regarding the 'pads' will there also be a way to 'trigger & transpose' the pad(s) using a keyboard?
(For example Midi Note 60 = 0 transpose, 61 = transpose +1 while 59 = transpose -1 etc. etc).
This way the sequence(s) could be treated as 'samples'(with optional stop sequence on note off) when played back.
For recording a 'step entry' could also be handy (Rozeta Cells does this quite nicely).
I'm too used to the way Logic does this too where the sustain-pedal used for rest / tie
I can't help it but an integrated editor would bring this to another level ie. Midi Record (& Edit as an IAP).
This will once released be a very handy tool in the toolbox
I like the idea of adding rest/tie input feature.
Nice to see this moving ahead.
Nothing to add accept I’m dense on the pads. Can’t get my pea brain around what they are doing.
@samu step entry sounds good. I can pick up sustain pedal too to skip a step. you dial in a max length and resolution(quantise). The rec start button(showing immediate) can have another value step input.
@kinkujin the pads are where you place the midi buffer(the one you just recorded or loaded). Pressing the pad plays it with the options shown by the rotaries below (eg loop, transpose, speed, start. & length)
@samu trigger & transpose yes, I intend to expose as au parameters & include midi keys/cc so these are used for playback
Cool!
Don’t know if you’re familiar with Logic Pro X’s step entry but the sustain pedal can also be used to tie notes to the next step. (Ie. If notes are held when pressing sustain they are tied to the next step). Step lenght should be equal to the quantise value to keep things clear.
For iPad only usage it might be a good idea to add the rest/tie button to the UI as very few onscreen keyboards support ’sustain pedal’. Cubasis has a sustain button AUM only a ’hold’ button which doesn’t work like a sustain pedal.
Step sequencers are fun to use and when you nail this you’ve got a winner for sure
yes and i like to see hosts have sustain button implemented into the host keyboard. it is more useful in my opinion than hold button. Or have both.
@samu @[Deleted User] will add a sustain step input button then to hold notes and a < > button to allow you to go back (& re record) or advance( add rests).
Will make use of the pad area to provide this as its going to be used without pads
Me likey! Thanks for sharing the visual and details.
Ahhh thanks! Wow. This just got even more interesting ...
Wow - this is evolving into a pretty impressive playground for midi
Looking forward to this, going to be very useful
