Pads are places you can load midi files to, so it made sense to allow you to pick the starting beat, duration & number if loops you want to play.
Yes midi cc, midi note & au parameter can trigger actions(like play pad 3 or start quick record) & midi cc, au parameter can modify settings (like start beat)
I dunno. Might be good to have a chance to get the eyeballs for those who search 'MIDI'. No idea how app store search ranking works though so grain of salt, etc.
Oh, I see. In this screenshot example, the start point is 82.
Why don't you put 'AUv3' in the app name? If I found it via searching on the Appstore (unlikely though that is) that'd be the key term I'd be looking for. "Photon AUv3 Midi streamer" - ?
Itunes store search works on keywords, so doesnt have to be something from the title so midi record auv3 will be in my set of keywords.
Instead of Photon I was thinking Groovy (like the java script language)
And there is what people are looking for to plug into those shiny DAWs - We need more AUs!
@lukesleepwalker
Yes, thats beat 82. The controls know the length of the midi to allow you to pick any valid beat.
0 of course will be the default.
Rather than work on end beat I prefer duration, as for example you can have one large midi file played in 4 beat sections by automating just the start beat
Makes sense. Looking forward to this one!
Occurs to me that this also means it should be pretty easy/quick to set up MIDI echos by copying a pad to another pad and setting a start point offset.
I find that the App Store search is so flaky it's not worth using at all. If I search for AUv3 on the App Store I get 51 apps from the developer A3M Communications Limited - presumably because it has 'A' and '3" in the developer name.
I don't get any music production apps at all.
If I search 'Midi AUv3" the first hit is Piano: Songs & Simulator Game - which seems to feature neither Midi or AUv3. After that some of the more expected results turn up, but certainly not all. AUM is not there, nor is BM3, Cubasis etc etc.
I find most apps through this forum. If I need to go back and look for an app I've read about here it's usually quicker to Google the forum entry and use the link than it is to use the App Store search.
ApeMatrix usually for me.
Normally when I see a new app - after reading a recommendation here - the first thing I do is go through the description to see if it's an AUv3. Searching for an omitted term is frustrating.
Listing in the App Store owes a lot to web SEO - the first rule is don't be afraid of stating the bleeding obvious, and stick your main search terms as high as possible. There's no higher position than the app name.
Yes Ive had that working by just copying in the same midi file to another pad.
My other auv3 midi app is a midi echo, but before I release it I was just watching Reason’s Echo Note so want to add buttons to mute/enable each echo to play quartal chords now!
@pauly yep the name is still the most important
@midiSequencer
Live Midi Groove
Midi Groove Live
Record Live & Gruv
Midi Unit Groove
Live & Midi
Real Time Midi
Yesh something along those lines could work. I'm glad you're giving Photon a try. That was me on Facebook btw
There could be a better name but I think keeping it interesting and in the same particle vein as Quantum is a good idea for branding. And is more memorable than just sticking together midi terms, although you can do both to make it effective. Also it's better SEO with an unusual name attached.
Groovy Photon
Groovy is for those of us who just want to wear our flares and grow our hair long and not be thinking about all this difficult getting the connections right thing maan all the time we just want to make our music you dig, whereas Photon is ideal for men wearing sub-Kirk boffin t-shirts who should really be down the shed and all alone with their flow diagrams and robot dogs that don't work.
I'm giving it all she's got, Cap'n!
Search “audio units” for best results.
Yeah, but they are quite geeky apps which is why Quantum works. Embrace your inner geeky, Scotty
There’s a Photon - DMX Light Controller under Music.
Photon Midi-Groove
I think a flash browser for iOS was called Photon.
thx for all the ideas - Photon it is as I'm playing Trexels 2 - so @Carnbot thanks for the initial idea - you got to name an app!
sounds good and fits with the name of Quantum.
Good choice
btw I didn't go through the whole thread. But it would be cool if there also would be a possibility to control velocity realtime.
Great, yeah a Star Trek connection is always a bonus too
A sort of mixer level -sure I can add that for playback so its non-destructive
Cool! Thx
