That’s really strange because when a I go to my account that I use for Reason 10 and go to products all I see is my licence for Reason 10 and Reason 7 and a link to download Reason 10 and Reason 7 but I don’t see Reason 10 Lite in the list.
Maybe it’s because I have the full version of Reason 10 that I’m not getting a free copy of Reason 10 lite.
Same here. I guess we don't get one because they think we won't need it?
Yes same here, to be honest why would I use the lite version if I got the full one.
Yeah I’m thinking the reason I didn’t get a free copy of Reason 10 lite is because I already have the full version.
It’s probbaly a ploy by propellerhead to get more people on the Reason 10 bandwagon.
Maybe we will get some kind of loyalty bonus somewhere down the line.............
Probably not though!
Yeah, maybe a free download code for the actual iOS version of Reason 10.
That would be nice
Swimming against the tide here i know, but i quite like what i see & hear so far. No midi is a bit of an own goal, but it's not really aimed at hard core midi heads..........If you look at it for what it is, & not what it isn't, it's actually pretty good.....
(EDIT) I am of course assuming it will be possible to save our own user patches.......if not, then i will have to revise my opinion......surely they wouldn't do that, would they?
Maybe the could of given us some reward points to spend.
I’m quite liking this app also it’s got a marmite reception by the looks of it. Until the IAP drops it’s on the back burner for now as can’t get past these annoying demo screens.
Would be ok if you only had to turn them off once.
I just checked my Propellerheads account and it looks like I got 15 reward points for downloading Reason Compact.
Might spend much time in Reason Compact until we’re allowed to give them money through IAPs. But it’s nice to get access to Reason Lite.
There’s something to be said about these limited versions of major DAWs. We keep saying that limitations encourage creativity. Surely, there are some neat pieces of music which can be done within those constraints.
Besides, they can work really as a way to train yourself in those DAWs. For instance, using an Ableton Live Lite license from an inexpensive iOS app, was able to follow some useful lessons on Lynda.com and elsewhere, teaching me quite a bit about DAW-based musicking. Did something similar with Bitwig 8-Track. The main problem in those two cases isn’t really the limitation in terms of tracks or content, but the fact that they’re not updated quickly. In Propellerhead’s case, Reason Lite is based on the current version of Reason Full.
Reminds me too much of Figure
Not terribly exciting for me but am happy to see Props attach the Reason brand to iOS. One can hope for further development.
This exactly.
It requires a login.
Not even installed.
My first reaction was very negative: looks like a Groovebox ripoff, no midi in (what’s that about?), same Groovebox pack-selling cynicism.
But
But
But
But
But....
It does sound very good.
Same happened to me. I signed up with another email account.
Had to create a new account with a different email to log in (no password reset email received). Still no Europa or IAPs available in the app and no Reason Lite download available on the website when I log in with my new account on my PC! I am a very patient person but this app is pushing it to the limit!
Hmm. I think it’s an own goal.
It’s not Reason, it’s a stripped down version of Europa which - regardless of what they plan for the future - doesn’t reflect what’s available on the desktop.
If I was in charge of their branding and marketing I would have held off the release date until more Gadgets, sorry, instruments, were available.
Just contact the Props team, they are usually very swift in reacting upon issues.
And on the other hand, it's all free, I don't get how people can get angry for stuff they don't even pay for.
Sorry about my direct response to this.
I am frustrated at the process to get into the app and IAPs and access to the free software download not the app itself which I appreciate is free and rather limited. I am sure it will be built up with features as time goes on but why make it so difficult to actually access stuff in the first place?
“Go from download to downbeat in just 10 seconds” ...that wasn’t my experience nor many others
But I am glad to see this and eager to see it go in the right direction
Spent some time with it last night and it does sound good but the limited functions don’t help me soar or be creative
I DID get a copy of Reason Lite when loggin ointo an existing account, that had Reason 2.5 Adapted on it
man that was a while ago.
Once logged in through Compact, go to the website and log in, then Reason 10 lite should be in your products list.
There's always a backstory I guess. That difference between how you'd draw up the perfect release and how it often seems to happen....
Yes. Like at least half of my other fifty synth apps.
Rushed releases seems to be a common occurrence in iOS land. Whether it’s down to lack of planning or investment in the platform, it’s not a great endorsement for the brand concerned.
PH could lose a whole swathe of potential desktop customers who download this and think to themselves ‘is that it?’, and go no further. Of course many could be hooked in after grabbing the Lite version, but most people aren’t like us lot on here.
If there are other elements/instruments in the pipeline then these should have been available on the big release date. If not, it really shouldn’t be called Reason, because it ain’t.
Don’t mean to sound grumpy about this, but as an investor in the full desktop version I’ve got a vested interest in their products, so just wish this had been better thought out.
I’m not so sure about that 🙂 I checked in the dictionary- it turns out it was probably almost 100% accurate.

Oh dear
Love that here though
„Sitting with a guitar is beautiful, but you can create so much more in this electronic world.”
I cannot think of a way how in the world I could even begin to compare me playing guitar and jamming along to that app
I feel for the developers. It’s like being a parent who holds a big birthday party for their child. Lots of friends and parents are in attendance and everything so far has gone good untill the ice cream is handed out ...and then all hell breaks loose
